MisterBadguy Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Bitches got SOAKED for Bruno Dude, I'm ill equipped and I got soaked for Bruno...
ChimeraCoinFlip Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 With all the Speedwagon in the trailer, I was really hoping maybe they'd throw him in. He's like the most important non-Jojo in the whole story.
SoWL Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 With all the Speedwagon in the trailer, I was really hoping maybe they'd throw him in. He's like the most important non-Jojo in the whole story. Nah, that would be Dio. I'm getting way more hype for Diavolo than I expected. That transformation intro, that King Crimson effects, that genuine fear of his bullshit ability and that rageface... I already expected to main/sub about four characters, might as well go for five.
Le Shad Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 3hype5me. Seems like Japan doesn't like Stone Ocean much, though - or at least the ladies there didn't.
ChimeraCoinFlip Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Nah, that would be Dio. I'd agree if the all encompassing Speed Wagon Foundation wasn't everywhere throwing their money around. Bruno doing a suplex into a zipper portal was pretty cool, i'm guessing he's just going to be portal attacking for most his stuff then. The button mashing when attacks collide thing doesn't look that great to me. It's been an annoying feature in any game I've played with it, but that's probably just me.
Pete278 Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Oh my god this conversation just made me realise that part 6 is Dio's evil influence upon the world vs Speedwagon's good influence upon the world, with the SPW Foundation fighting against Pucci, how has this never occurred to me.
Krusiv Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 PV5 in glorious HD: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xe9pvmZM1mA
SoWL Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 I'd agree if the all encompassing Speed Wagon Foundation wasn't everywhere throwing their money around. If it wasn't for Dio, Jonathan wouldn't have met SPW, not to mention that most of his company's money is spent on fixing consequences of Dio's actions in some way. Doppio's RURURURURURURU made me appreciate my new avatar even more. Not to mention that Diavolo's voice is great.
Le Shad Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Hmm, I wonder where the other half of the video is at. It'll be released in the coming weeks, I guess…
Ichipoo Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Read, watch, play Jojo and also LIFT like Jojo, get bitches. It all makes sense now.
ChimeraCoinFlip Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 If it wasn't for Dio, Jonathan wouldn't have met SPW, not to mention that most of his company's money is spent on fixing consequences of Dio's actions in some way. We will have to agree to disagree in silence or continue this somewhere else. re-watching the long video makes me hopeful the button mashing attack clashes are story mode only or something else. also still hoping for a couple more villains. Anyone think we'll get atleast 3 more characters for parts 1 and 6?
Pete278 Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 The button mashing attack clashes were in the old one too, its not very often that you'd actually trade oraora and mudamudas though.
SoWL Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 An unexpected, yet still great Famitsu article: http://www.famitsu.com/news/201306/13034733.html Not only does it cover the game modes, but it also shows some more gameplay mechanics. Bruno Buccellati (CV: Noriaki Sugiyama) Battle style: Stand (Sticky Fingers) A character featured in part 5. Though initially an enemy of Giorno’s, he has taken a liking of Giorno’s “Dream” and invited him in his team. Buccellati himself is a calm, level-headed leader of the team who earned everyone’s trust. His Stand, Sticky Fingers, has the ability to create a zipper on any object it hits to take it apart. Command move: Closing zipper! Buccellati can move quickly while his Stand is off thanks to this move. By holding onto the zipper on the ground, he is able to quickly zip back and forth around the battlefield. Moreover, thanks to being low to the ground, he can dodge projectiles and other attacks. While moving this way, you can perform “Looks like I’ll have to dispose of him!”. Command move: Looks like I’ll have to dispose of him! Command move: Over there! A punch with great range from the zipper! Command move: Ariariariari Buccellati’s Stand unleashes a flurry of punches! Command move: Opening zipper! Buccellati attacks the enemy with a zipper in the ground. Command move: Bloody bastard By unzipping his own arm and that of his Stand’s, Buccellati can attack the enemy from far away. Command move: I already realized that, too! Buccellati and his Stand punch the ground simultaneously. The hand emerges from the zipper far away, hitting the enemy from an unexpected angle! Command move: This isn’t my “Arm” Normal throw: This has already become a “Torture session”. Taunt Heart Heat Attack: Are you ready? I will do it. Buccellati grabs the enemy and falls into the space below the zipper along with them. Both players then erupt out of another hole and hit the ground. This move deals a lot of damage, though it deals some damage to Buccellati, too. Great Heat Attack: Arrivederci After being launched into the air with the Stand, the enemy falls underground through the zipper. The Stand quickly erupts from underground and unleashes a brutal “Ariari” combo! Finally, they are blown away with the last hit, as Buccellati says “Arrivederci” (goodbye). Narancia Ghirga (CV: Yuuko Sanpei) Battle style: Stand (Aerosmith) A character featured in part 5. One of Buccellati’s subordinates. Though he may seem innocent and unreliable, he has great spiritual power when it comes to protecting his friends, allowing him to face any danger head-on. His Stand, Aerosmith, takes shape of a plane that can attack with bombs and machineguns. It also has the power of detecting carbon dioxide, allowing Narancia to attack targets he can’t even see. Command move: Can’t run away! The Stand is summoned after a punch, firing machineguns. Command move: I’ll make you talk! Narancia raises his left hand upwards, letting his Stand fly and fire machineguns diagonally upwards. Command move: If I can’t shoot, then I won’t The Stand charges the opponent, cutting them with the propeller. Command move: Take flight! While in Stand mode, Aerosmith flies around the screen. You can follow it up with “Go, over there!” and “It’s worth shooting the hell out of you!”. Command move: A beehive! Aerosmith continuously shoots bullets with his machineguns. Command move: Disappear! Aerosmith drops a bomb, damaging the enemy with the explosion. Command move: Go, over there! You can change Aerosmith’s flight route with the direction buttons. Command move: It’s worth shooting the hell out of you! After traveling the determined route, Aerosmith unloads his machineguns on the enemy! Throw: How about this! And this! Taunt Heart Heat Attack: Get them with the bigger one! Aerosmith continuously bombs the opponent. Great Heat Attack: Volare Via! The Stand unleashes its guns, while Narancia is saying “Volavola…” – of course, ending it with “Volare Via” (have a nice flight). Diavolo (CV: Morikawa Toshiyuki) Battle style: Stand (King Crimson) A character featured in part 5. Boss of the gangster organization “Passione”. So no one knows his identity, he usually acts under the guise of a young boy named Vinegar Doppio. His Stand, King Crimson, can see into the future as well as erase time. Vinegar Doppio (CV: Ishida Akira) Diavolo’s second identity. A young boy who is deeply loyal to “Boss”. Boss himself takes over the body whenever he wants, but Doppio is not aware that Boss is inside of him. Command move: It’s over! A powerful overhead punch with the Stand! When the enemy is hit, they are forced into the knockdown state. Command move: Time goes on again! A powerful body blow from King Crimson! By holding down the button, this attack can be made unblockable. Special move: Your life is in my hands!! Command move: “King Crimson”! Step movement: I’ll only skip half a second! Before Diavolo’s forward step and backstep, he leaves crimson traces of teleportation. The enemy’s attack will never hit him while in this state. Counter-move: What a meaningless act A special counter-move that activates right before getting hit by the opponent. Though it costs Heart Heat Gauge, you enter the “Time erasure” mode, able to rewind the enemy’s attack as if it never hit you. Command move: The time has been erased…!! While in the “Time erasure” mode, the enemy repeats his attack over and over again, while Diavolo is completely invincible and can do whatever he pleases, moving out of the attack’s trajectory. After a certain amount of time or when you press an attack button, the “Time erasure” mode ends. Throw: I won’t let you go! Taunt Heart Heat Attack: Epitaph The ability that lets Diavolo see into the future with 100% precision. While in this mode, Diavolo dodges most of the enemy’s attacks automatically with Stylish Action. However, it does not drain his Guard Gauge. Great Heat Attack: Pinnacle of Eternity After activating the Great Heat Attack, the enemy’s attack is parried, as Diavolo activates the “Time erasure” mode, approaches the defenseless enemy from behind, and delivers a brutal blow from King Crimson. System infoゴゴゴ (rumbling manga SFX) "Rumbling" Mode: When HP is low, this is activated automatically, attack power increases and gauges fill up faster. Preparedness Mode: Attacks no longer make you wince/flinch. Only 4 characters so far can activate "Preparedness Mode": Giorno, Bruno, Mista, and Hermes.
Final Ultima Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Adding this because SoWL mentioned it elsewhere but seems to have accidentally omitted it from the post here. Buccellati's Unique Trait Unique trait: This is the final chance “Heavens” gave me When Buccellati is one round away from defeat, he activates this unique trait. If his life drops to zero, he rises again with some health recovered! While striking a pose from the manga’s climax, he can outlast his enemies!
ChimeraCoinFlip Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Buccellati's Unique Trait Seems a little fair I guess because he's the only character so far that seems to hurt his self when using a specialty. They're managing to squeeze a lot of little things from the manga in here. Kinda cool for things like this but kinda annoying on other things (joseph's soda bottle/Dio's stop sign).
SoWL Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Adding this because SoWL mentioned it elsewhere but seems to have accidentally omitted it from the post here. Whoops, my bad. Seems a little fair I guess because he's the only character so far that seems to hurt his self when using a specialty. There is also Okuyasu, who also loses some health after performing a super.
ChimeraCoinFlip Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 There is also Okuyasu, who also loses some health after performing a super. I did not know that. Wonder if these specials will be really damaging then. With every part I finish reading, two things happen. One: I get way more excited for this game. Two: I hate Araki even more. Part 6's ending was BS. Part 6 was a lot of BS looking back. More on topic... Something I've really not thought about, will stands be controlled like in the PSN/Sega Saturn Jojo game, kinda like Ignis/Nirvana in BB?
Le Shad Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 I'd be surprised if Hermes doesn't take some damage from some of her own attacks, too.
Pete278 Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 I'm pretty sure she takes damage from any move where she puts a sticker on herself.
SoWL Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Yeah, totally forgot to mention the stream here. The CPU is certainly not the sharpest tool in the shed, but it did shed some light on the gameplay aspects people were worried about. I guess I'll leave it to Pete to elaborate on this, since he was going to write his impressions later. And man, the OST is fantastic. So glad they're going with the character themes.
Pete278 Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Writing's for nerds, real men talk. http://youtu.be/Bds87r04IyY (I'm sorry I'm not very good at talking ;_
Final Ultima Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 (edited) I actually have some general observations to add to that too. Stylish Move seems to have a pretty generous window, considering that the less than wholly competent COM manages it on multiple occasions. It's hard to say how much invulnerability it has, but it looks very potent. The opponent is in hitstop (dodgestop?) for almost the full length of the animation. The Guard Gauge does drop by about 20% whenever you do it, but it's hard to tell how crippling that is, if at all. Depending on the speed of normals in this game, the neutral game may end up being very safe out of pure necessity. Josuke uses Stylish Move to dodge "Ariariariari" and responds with "Dorararara". This triggers Rush Mode. This suggests a couple of things about blazing fist specials. First of all, they have a crazy amount of active frames, although that should come as no surprise. Secondly, notice how Josuke is actually pretty damn close when he throws it out, and he's throwing it at Sticky Fingers who is currently just punching the air off to his side. This suggests that the conditions don't actually require that the moves themselves "clash", just that one blazing fists special touches another one in progression. So you might see this happening off trades or something. The amount of Heart Heat Gauge you lose from being taunted has been reduced significantly. In PV4, DIO taunts Josuke with his iconic WRYYYYY! and Josuke loses about half of a stock right there and then. As Pete mentioned, now it's more like an eighth of a stock. This is probably for the best. Buccellati's Heart Heat Attack deals damage to himself, as we already knew from the latest Famitsu article, but now we know that the damage he deals to himself is recoverable. I wouldn't be surprised if all self-inflicted damage is recoverable. Recoverable life functions somewhat like focus damage in Street Fighter IV. If you take a hit, you lose it all. In the case of DIO and the Pillar Men, all damage they take is partially recoverable, but being hit by a move with the Hamon property attached to it removes all of their recoverable life. Match-ups in this game are going to be bananas. Josuke's Barrier looks really good. As Pete mentioned, it's too large for Buccellati to get around in a single sidestep. With good positioning, you could easily bait an opponent into doing something really stupid. Jumping over it or dodging around it looks like it would be really obnoxious. Gogogo (Rumble) Mode and Kakugo (Resolve) Mode seem to only activate once you return to neutral, much like Awakenings in P4U. Buccellati clearly gets knocked into the appropriate amount of life, does an ukemi, lands, and then enters Kakugo Mode. The confusing thing about Kakugo Mode is that Buccellati still seems to flinch as normal, so I'm wondering if either the original entry was misinterpreted and it's just a defense boost or if both characters entering their comeback mode cancels each other out. Either way, Buccellati was hardly taking a massive amount of damage from Josuke even though he was in a mode with raised attack power. Jonathan's Zoom Punch is damn slow. It doesn't seem to have much range compared to the anti-air one shown off in PV4 either, but apparently it can be extended by holding down the attack button, so that explains that. Jonathan's Heart Heat Attack does not appear to be classed as a Hamon attack, despite having the Hamon visual effect. It seems to compensate for this by doing a pretty sizable amount of damage though. I can only imagine that Sunlight Yellow Overdrive will sting like hell on DIO though. The full Road Roller animation is ridiculously long. I am perfectly okay with this. DIO's "This is "The World"!" special appears to have a decent amount of invulnerability during that momentary teleport. When Jonathan tries to hit DIO with the Sword of Luck & Pluck, DIO uses Stylish Move to dodge the first hit. The second hit then clearly whiffs even though it looks like it should've at least hit The World, if not DIO. The additional hits of Sword of Luck & Pluck look like they might auto-correct to an extent, possibly because they're additional commands and not automatic follow-ups.
