SolxBaiken Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 (edited) A fun little gem that was lost in the annals of time thanks to the Sega-Sammy merger, but now Dimps (the original developer and current developer of the SF4 series) has re-acquired all rights to the series and they have plans to revive the franchise! A new portal site was made an in particular a new website for RF2 has been crafted, along with a fresh Twitter! [more information forthcoming] SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE! As of this time (7.19.2012) we are now currently in possession of the copyrights to "The Rumble Fish" and "The Rumble Fish 2" which were previously held by SEGA, as such we will consider future developments with the series to please look forward to the future! Thank you. Concerning the graphical style__________ A new graphics engine (for the Atomiswave - the arcade system which it was released on) was used to animate the various limbs of each character separately, allowing for more fluid animation. This engine also allows the clothes of each character to rip from wear and tear as they take more damage throughout a match. Edited July 20, 2012 by SolxBaiken
Blade Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 If this got a PS3 console port, I might get it. I definitely liked the original. On a related note, just how many more games are still under Sega's grasp that need to be freed?
Starlight777 Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 I actually like the way this game looks. And for once I see a shoto-esque character I do not hate. I've actually been watching arcade matches of this for a long time lol.
floatwater Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 I'm defuddled, it looks jerky yet. . .clean. I like it.
DogsofWar Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 This game has the coolest name ever. i want it now!
Hecatom Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 its nice to see that this game is free at last of the hands of Sega im pretty sure that TRF has the potential of becoming a successful series
Dr. Stormlocke Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Interesting! I enjoyed RF2 quite a bit, and played it for years at Arcade Infinity. A port would be awesome.
OutlawVinegar Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 TRF2 was the first fighter I ever developed an interest in competitively. And then TGA closed. ._. If this game got a PSN port, I... I can't even put into words how I would feel. Just seeing a thread on this series make my heart skip a beat, no joke. Here's hoping Dimps decides to do something with it. My day has been made.
Yggjrasil Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 I loved this game! Garnet and Zen were my favorite characters.
Starlight777 Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 If this game gets a PSN port, my heart may explode into confetti since I've been wanting to play this series for the longest. Zen, Viren, Beatrice, Sheryl and Lud look fun lol.
Agni Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Wait, what the hell? The only Rumble Fish I know is an American novel written in the 70s...
Dream Maker Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 This game was so much fun, not very well balanced but it had some interesting mechanics and the overall atmosphere was great in both episodes. It would be great if they plan to make a new episode or at least release the 2nd game on console. I was lucky enough to play it thanks to friend who had the atomiswave and the game for a while, haven't seen it running in Japan yet for the time I've been there. Boyd FTW, I loved kicking ass as a wicked small grandpa with a hawaiian shirt lol
SolxBaiken Posted July 21, 2012 Author Posted July 21, 2012 only Rumble Fish I know is an American novel written in the 70s... Yeah that was Rumble Fish, this is THE Rumble Fish :3 haven't seen it running in Japan yet for the time I've been there. Well the game was in operation in the middle of last month at Nakano TRF, not sure if it's still up or if they were just running like seasonal ranbats or something. Video recording to do list: - Systems video - Individual Movelist videos - Character overviews (only select ones that interest me = w=) - Fan requests? Anything you guys want to see, cause I'm about to start making and editing vids :D
Starlight777 Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 I was gonna request a run-through of Zen, Sheryl and Viren's movesets, but I believe you have that covered under "Individual Movelist videos".
Kyosuke Kagami Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Only thing I remember from TRF was mah Kaya That, and also the fact that I could only play the PS2 port. Only game from DIMPS that I thought it wasn't a full piece of shit.
Blade Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 It's just my honest opinion...but DIMPs has yet to disappoint (DBZ and Saint Seiya come to mind). Heck, one of the devs in Dimps invented Street Fighter, so you can't really go wrong with that.
Kyosuke Kagami Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 PS2 SS games were shit AND OFFENDED ME AS A LIFE-TIME FAN sorry mime but this time YOU KNOW NOTHING
SolxBaiken Posted July 23, 2012 Author Posted July 23, 2012 I was gonna request a run-through of Zen, Sheryl and Viren's movesets, but I believe you have that covered under "Individual Movelist videos". Of those I'll probably get to Sheryl's first (I actually already started planning it out, lol) however I'm gonna make the system vid first because there's alot to cover and I can avoid certain things by just explaining them all there :V Kyosuke, sometimes you can be so uncool :<
Kyosuke Kagami Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 "Kyosuke, sometimes you can be so uncool :< " ;___; Well, not my fault that DIMPS, most of the times, makes... well, things. And sometimes they try TOO hard (lol @ demolish fist)
Blade Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 (edited) Whatever Kyosuke...haters gonna hate. But Saint Seiya games are always cool in my book. As for DIMPS...they just help devs out from time to time...they don't do everything. If you got anything to whine about, whine at Bandai-Namco. Edited July 23, 2012 by Blade
SolxBaiken Posted July 23, 2012 Author Posted July 23, 2012 Ok, before I head off to dreamland, I was planning out the systems vid and when I came to the HUD, I got curious if everyone had the same health, this led to a lengthy test of discovering an interesting curve; so for the test I used Beatrice, with her I could land 7 reps of HP>HK, which (more times than not) lead to 396 damage, which appears to be the "magic number". The Rumble Fish 2 - Character Health Values Zan =393(+3?)Hikaru =396Garnet =397(-1?)Orville =390(+6)*Greed =396Sheryl =397(-1?)Boyd =397(-1?)Bazoo =374(+20)**Mito =396Lud =396Aran =395(+2?)Kaya =396Viren =396Typhon =396Hazama =396 *after the 7th rep I did LP>LK which did 6 damage, K.O.'ing him perfectly. **after the 7th rep I did LP>LK two times, the first doing 11 damage and the second doing 9, tally it up and he K.O.s at 394...
OutlawVinegar Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 ReXXXSoprano uploaded more TRF arcade videos of The Rumble Fish 2 two days ago: those who haven't seen the game in action ought to check out his channel. Random recent video samples: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Et6HHLyU44M&feature=plcp http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5AXuy5Tum0&feature=plcp http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkaJqy4gJcY&feature=plcp Usually around half of the cast are used in these videos; the only character I've never seen used is Typhon, so I can't vouch for him, but every other character seems to have a fighting chance. To my knowledge, Hazama and Hikari seem to be the strongest characters if all the vids I've watched are any indication, but Boyd, Sheryl, and Aran all have strong playstyles or powerful gimmicks.
jedpossum Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 The Rumble Fish 2 - Character Health Values Zan =393(+3?)Hikaru =396Garnet =397(-1?)Orville =390(+6)*Greed =396Sheryl =397(-1?)Boyd =397(-1?)Bazoo =374(+20)**Mito =396Lud =396Aran =395(+2?)Kaya =396Viren =396Typhon =396Hazama =396 *after the 7th rep I did LP>LK which did 6 damage, K.O.'ing him perfectly. **after the 7th rep I did LP>LK two times, the first doing 11 damage and the second doing 9, tally it up and he K.O.s at 394... With numbers that close they're the same. Also, I hardly trust what the HUD shows, unless they're the developer tools. The memory shows the life at value of 17664 in decimal.
