And if it wasn't obvious she was the creator's favorite (borders on Mary Sue for me). The Saya clone series and Platinum (and Caelica) are the only female characters in the cast that I would never want to be the main character. Sadly, Noel basically IS at this point. I was also hoping for more Jin emphasis this game. Because I really want to see his character development follow through, and because I'm biased. In all honesty, I feel like Makoto is the unofficial heroine of the series. Before you laugh me out of the discussion for saying that, let me explain. Makoto's actions are rather important to the overarching story, whether it's stopping Hazama from killing Jin, stopping Tsubaki and Noel from killing each other, or protecting Tsubaki from Carl. She also gave Noel the inspiration she needed to even continue on her chosen path. She may not be a main character, but she's one of the major players in my book, as her actions have directly foiled several integral points of Hazama's and Relius's schemes.

Makoto stepped in to save Jin since he was hurt and could tell Hazama was likely going to kill him, but then once she did she realized that she was nothing to Hazama and was completely useless. Jin, now not just worrying about himself, has to worry about Makoto and takes her and leaves. If Makoto wasn't there, Jin never would have stepped down, but if Jin didn't act to defend Makoto, she'd be dead too.
