bwiyon Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 I've seen a few videos where R.F. and Osaka B manipulate the opponent into falling for a Mettakiri. I was wondering if there were any Mettakiri Set-Ups or Traps other than the basic Item Throw (Meteor, Poison) > Mettakiri. well here are a few things you can use. first run up and use 2k after the first hit cancel into the item throw then right after do Mettakiri. The opponent will usually expect to block 3 hits but the item throw usually confuses them and by the time they can react mettakiri will be hitting them. (don't use it too much but it catches people off guard when you mix it up). If you are using 2k the opponent generally will be blocking low you can run up and do 5k and this will whiff the opponent if they are blocking low in which case you do the mettakiri to catch them. The last thing you can try is to throw a bomb bag right behind them (usually in the corner). You don't want the bomb bag to hit him but right behind him so the explosion will hit him. then you land and mettakiri.
Anakron Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 There's plenty of shit you can do with items. Coin: Once this hits, your goal is to get them with the scalpel into whatever. If it they block it, you get to do a block string. Poison: This one is completely situational and you have to do whatever it is in your power to trick them into getting hit by it. I like crossing up with this one. Meteor: Combo into this or do pressure. It's awesome but I think people are just way too intimidated by it. Chibi-RoboKy: Mind games. I'd like to say that this gives you a good advantage in the air while this is floating. Chibi Faust: Meh. This guy falls down straight so unless this is happening while they're in the corner, I wouldn't say that it's that good. Chibi Potemkin: If you end up getting him, your job is to get your opponent in the corner because lil pot + corner = maximum pressure. Hammer: o_O anti-air... Pray that your opp is stupid enough to airdash into this. Tub: Same as the hammer but falls down faster. Leads to dizzys. Bomb: My favorite. You control a giant portion of the screen if used correctly. This combo has to be timed correctly. You do whatever into air dust to hit them down into the explosion. After that, do their launched into the air do the air bnb (jk js jk JC js jh) Chocolate and Donut: Bait people with this or take it I guess. There was a sweet setup a Faust did on a Roboky in one vid where her locked him down in the corner with items and the roboky went for the chocolate but the Faust scalpeled him. I'm sure someone already posted something like this so I'm basically talking out of my ass right now. :V
dice Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 http://youtube.com/watch?v=Fmlrjd8Pu_Y I enjoy this match alot because the faust player really does some interesting set ups: @ 0:22 - 5s 5p 5s 5p and block, I dont know if evryone really noticed this awsome way to bait a burt, normally alot of us would have probably thrown a 2hs in there and would have ate the burst but this was a really nice burst bait out @ 1:10 - he times a drill cancel 5k right before the bomb hits, iv tried this to aswell with the poison, little roboys pots, hammer and meteor especially, because ppl can tell if you want to dash and do Mettakiri they tend to jump. but because the drill cancel 5k has good reach it really is a mind fuck @ 1:19 - another crazy set up for Mettakiri, it even works mid screen if timed really good.
Senkei Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 yeah this is Defure he's damn good 1. R.F 2. Defure he runs a very close second but i've done the 5k mettakiri many times it's a good set up 5s 5p....repeat is also a good block string to end with 5p-6hs
Superslash2 Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 I can't check on AC because I'm still getting used to it but in #Reload for the PC, if you manage to get the opponent to land on Chibi-Faust, it acts as a floater and sends them up a little higher (about as high above as a non-CH 2D). Does that still work and is it useful for much now? In Reload, getting some one to fall on was quite nice.
Effenhoog Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 I really like that FDC jK JC j2K > land > etc combo in that video, I don't think I've seen it before. I'm having trouble doing it consistently, but that's probably just because I suck and often do dumb shit like FDC so low the jK can't even come out. Also how is Faust's normal throw range compared to other characters? I feel dumb for not knowing after playing Faust for so long, but I guess since I also play Dizzy I just assumed it was less than hers (like most everyone else) and didn't really think about it. One more thing, if the opponent is getting used to blocking FDC jK mixups, sometimes I like to just FDC > land > command grab. it seems stupid, but it works sometimes.
Diirty_Kiickz Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 ^FDC fake outs to command throw is a good strat. Especially if u whore FDC jk period ya know?! Nothing stupid about it at all man On FA's throw range.....IMO it basicly dwells among the worst in the cast...its obviously nothing like Testy's/Dizzy/Ang's, etc. maybe there is some pixel data out there to help out w/ this...
Zoogstin Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 according to the frame data, Faust's throw range is pretty normal. 45 (pixels?) other characters are 43 and chipp has the worst range with 36. Many characters, if not most, have 45. So he is by no means among the worst in the game. Not the best either but still.
Akira Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 according to the frame data, Faust's throw range is pretty normal. 45 (pixels?) Yes, pixels =] I can do throw with Order Sol much easier than with Faust(OS's throw range: 43, which's smaller than Faust's) So Faust's gamestyle isn't for doing so many throws XDDDD
dice Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 and a match up section set up to would be really appreciated
Senkei Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 not gonna happen unless Zinac wants to...but from his last few previous posts about it looks like it's a no go im down to do it though i got plently of matchup exp
Zinac Posted July 2, 2008 Author Posted July 2, 2008 http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4898 I thought we had a gameplay thread. Guess not.
Akira Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 and a match up section set up to would be really appreciated We don't need it: we have it. We only need someone to organize that(I think only Zinac can do it u.u)
Lanowen Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 More than half of the other characters' have a matchups subforum.
Zinac Posted July 2, 2008 Author Posted July 2, 2008 More than half of the other characters' have a matchups subforum. Find what you need to ask, and ask it in the Matchup thread. I still don't believe it warrants having a new sub-forum.
Kyle Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Jump into bag IB, IB, Air Dash... NICE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0wte6ocGwo
Alternate275 Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Just game ago, I just ran into an interesting scenario. I was battling Faust as Johnny. And Faust did his command grab/capture move. Before/During the move, I saw the pink flash that indicated a throw escape. However, Faust himself continued to do the animation for it. I myself was free from the command throw. BTW, I'm playing on the North American version of Accent Core. I was wondering if anybody knows what happened here. I'm not sure if I teched an ACTUAL throw and the command grab was buffered.... Or if I teched the command grab... Or what... But something funny happened and I don't think it should've.
Zinac Posted March 3, 2009 Author Posted March 3, 2009 You can't tech the command grab because its technically NOT a grab. It only is an unblockable move that activates in situations the opponent can be thrown.
Zoogstin Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Maybe the faust player did the motion but because you guys were so close he actually did a normal grab on you. After you broke the throw he released the HS button creating a negative edge moment and his unblockable move came out. Just speculating.
Alternate275 Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 You can't tech the command grab because its technically NOT a grab. It only is an unblockable move that activates in situations the opponent can be thrown. Well either way, it's something that shouldn't have happened, and I'm fully aware of at least that much. I just wanted to know why it happened. Maybe the faust player did the motion but because you guys were so close he actually did a normal grab on you. After you broke the throw he released the HS button creating a negative edge moment and his unblockable move came out. Just speculating. Sounds logical, but I really don't know...
Senkei Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 I've had this happen to me about 3-4 times, the command was put in while my opponent was trying to grab me and metta kiri came out like i was planning, but the throw tech purple flash appeared.
