NumeroGaijin Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Is there anyone here on DL that can get a hold of CP and test one combo for me. Since the game is basically going back to CT with revisions for us tagers I am trying to revert back to some old CT combos I used to use. I will post notations later or when I get someone to try out for me.
NumeroGaijin Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Ok I have more time now. The combo I used to use in CT was something along the lines of.....(on a mag opponent) 5C>6A>2C>5D>Spark>5C>6A>2C>AC>stuff depending on where you are and position.
Gerk Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 5C>6A>2C>5D Dunno how this combo worked in CT, but I tried this today and 2C won't link to 5D. I wasn't able to cancel 5D with Spark either, but that might have just been my clumsy hands messing things up. --- After seeing a whopping zero Tager players since CP's release here, I managed to run into two of them today at the monthly tournament; one fellow who went by ピンクの悪魔 / "Pink Devil" (he uses a pink palette for Tager; get it? aha) ended up winning the tourney, and is apparently considered the best Tager in the prefecture; of course, I was able to osmose some tactics from him. He really got a kick out of this combo versus magnetized opponents: [basic 3C setup] > 3C > AC with 1 or 2 extra held frames (whiff) > 5C > 6B > j.C > j.D > 63214A Versus smaller opponents, he would replace the j.C to D with B to C instead. Against Rachel he seemed to forego all of that in favor of a 6A > AC > Followup (I forgot where exactly it gets switched in there.) Also, greatest combo ever, which he managed to land like 8 times tonight: SB > KOT Apparently you've been able to do this since the Calamity Trigger home version, however.

Its great to have a player from japan that can give us actual first hand info about the game and test stuff for us!
Osuna Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 Ok I have more time now. The combo I used to use in CT was something along the lines of.....(on a mag opponent) 5C>6A>2C>5D>Spark>5C>6A>2C>AC>stuff depending on where you are and position. That is a really hasty and terrible generalization and 2C doesn't cancel into 5D anymore so that combo was doomed from the start.
Heartless Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 I've compiled a lot of Tager combos from a lot of videos. Shout outs to the channels for their help and support with the CP footage. Hope this will help. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ArqcF30fyYI
TagerTime Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 I've compiled a lot of Tager combos from a lot of videos. Shout outs to the channels for their help and support with the CP footage. Hope this will help. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ArqcF30fyYI WOW this is great thanks very much! It will be great to see how japanese players figure out how to evolve these very early combos into fully optimized versions.Cant wait till the best Tager players from extend like Akira, Akizuki, Hage, etc who are hiding out in the combo lab come out to finaly show us what tager can realy do. Yumura is the only one of them trying to figure things out in the open.
Mucky Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 uuuugggh that body slam move has such horrible recovery I thought the purpose of a move like that was "hey you did an air combo, have some knockdown oki", but apparently it's possible to roll away before Tager can recover. What's the point of that?
mAc Chaos Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 > what's the point of that welcome to tager

What's the point of that? I'm sure I saw a vid where Tager does GP > 5A and it caught someone rolling away.

Manta Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 I'm noticing one rather large flaw with the CT combos; You basically end up using more than 25% heat in real terms, since you spend 25% and then crap on your heat gain for a good proportion of the combo afterwards. To the point where not using CT and sticking MTW on the end would get the same net gain and more damage too.
Heartless Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 (edited) I thought the purpose of a move like that was "hey you did an air combo, have some knockdown oki", but apparently it's possible to roll away before Tager can recover. What's the point of that? If the opponent is magnetized and you roll after Grand Punish. It's a free 360/720/1080. You have to neutral tech. I'm thinking of other ways to punish rolling after Grand Punish without magnetism. Won't know if they work until I hit the lab. Edited December 9, 2012 by Heartless

What's the point of that? From all the videos i have seen Tager recovers fast enough to attack first before they finish their neutral tech.
Brice Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 i'm pretty sure it's similar to bang's ashura. sometimes the combo has so much proration that you can tech while bang is doing is finishing animation (and completely invincible :P) and you're like wtf is happening. should be the same with grand punish, because there is video evidence of tager doing grand punish and having good oki on it. also as heartless said just spin the stick while waiting the recovery and if they roll just press the driver of your choice... but that's only what i'm thinking right now, not having the game surely don't help...

A.X.I.S. Posted December 22, 2012 Author Posted December 22, 2012 Scottie Yosh posted the Tager combo bible in Tager skype not too long ago. I won't be able to to put this in the thread for a few days since I am still settling in and I am not doing this on christmas. If you guys wanna do it before me feel free to. NumeroGaijin Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 I have to be honest....After seeing the combo video with Tager I am impressed and looking forward to Tager now. Before I was very skeptical because he defintely is once again in his own tier below the others. But I feel that I can make things happen with him with his new tools though they kinda don't mean squat if his matches with half of the cast in the game. Tager also getting over 5k in the corner is insane. Tager getting 5k midscreen even if its situational is an even greater shocker.

We still haven't even seen any Fatal combos yet, and only a couple basic CT and OD combos. However it is nice that they are finaly working out the new BnBs to replace the old AC combos from extend. There is still new stuff to be discovered with CP Tager so there is still more to look forward to.
