[Feb 23-24, 2013] Winter Brawl 7 (Road to EVO 2013) - Philadelphia, Pa

Most of the time when I seed a tournament, I do it by skill, and then region. This time around I did it randomly then by region because it's free entry.

There are only 3 people who I would have moved, based on skill, if they were randomly seeded in the same pool using the pre-registration list: brkrdv, LK and SKD. LK did not pre-register and SKD/brkrdv saved me the trouble because they were randomly seeded away from one another. Other then that I tried to move people based on region. The reason it's those three is because SKD could be considered the strongest player in the US right now based on tournament performance, with LK and brkrdv close behind. I didn't go past top 3 because it was my choice to make. Deal with it. Thank god I wasn't forced to play favorites cause then I'd have to do it for everyone. Guess what happens when you do that? You're technically rigging the brackets.

You're getting randomly placed into the brackets if you register on-site as well. That means LK might have to play SKD/brkrdv in pools. Please shut the fuck up and don't tell me how I would plan on making brackets. You are not me and you are not running this tournament. This tournament is free entry. You have no room to complain. If you want to complain then go talk to Eric: it's his money, not mine. I'm doing my job. There are no rules on this, it's up to me how I wanted to seed. And take it from me, if you were to complain about this at the tournament and I explained everything it to Eric, you wouldn't get anywhere. If I were to rig the brackets then we would have a problem, but guess what? Everyone was seeded randomly and WILL CONTINUE to be seeded randomly. That's as fair as you can get. Hell, I even streamed myself making the brackets and pools. I suggest all TO's start doing the same.

My job as a TO is not to try and make everyone happy: you'll never start the tournament. Please seed, run, and stream a 100+ man tournament and make sure everyone got a "fair" bracket on top of that. What the fuck is fair? Fair is subjective. This is a tournament. You play to win. If you're not prepared to play everyone that could possibly enter then don't enter in the first place.

I talked with Psyken on Facebook and he's confident that he'll beat Kyo and make it out of pools. Stop posting on the subject.

EAD.

See you all there tonight or tomorrow. Travel safe.

woooooowww....

I ask "is this tournament seeded? Cuz this may be an issue?"

And I get this.

I had already let it go, my question was answered, and then you had to go off like this.

Come on, man.

he's just saying it like it is. Almost every TO organizes brackets like this.

Yeah, but I don't have to be talked to like that for simply asking a question. It's not cool.

I get it, unless you're one of these (A,B,C) dudes, the tournament is regionally seeded then random. I'm ok with that, and my question was answered.

What if you seeded according to previous tournament performance or something. Would it really be "rigging" if you set it up in a certain way.

And if you are going to do random, would it be that bad if the best players knocked each other out earlier. Sometimes I like to host small tournaments of my own so I always ponder these questions.

There's a difference between small tournaments and 100 man majors.

Yeah, I am fine with how he does it. I'm just curious about what's considered a "good way" of doing things.

There is no good way. It depends on the person running it and the type of tournament.

This tournament is different because it was free. TSB is done differently because it's a small monthly. NEC was done differently because there were qualifiers held before it.

I'll be there Saturday/Sunday, if you have a minute, I'd like to talk to you about Civil War. Hopefully, with a minimum amount of "EAD"'s as possible.

As long ZomB faces SKD during the tournament (first round preferably) it is all fine.

Ah, okay. When I do stuff with my friends, I just hand pick the brackets because I know everybody's abilities inside out. But I thought there might be a standard way to do it or something.

Are these seeded? brkrdave's first match could be Lord Knight (assuming he enters of course). He got 1st at SB beating Alex Valle and duckator, then got hit by brutal impact in the finals.
