Eh, primers are kinda irrelevant even in Ex imo. When did you ever guard crush someone as Relius? His damage was pushing 6k in Ex, so after 2 214C mixups, they were essentially dead lol.

And honestly, I'd say CP Relius is what Ex relius should've been from the start. While Ex 214C oki that devoured anything will always be amazing, wegot better mixups, better combos, and just over all more efficient. A lot of things stay the same from Ex, but now we have ways to make them even more impatient when getting out of our blockstrings.

Things that are amazing when compared to Ex:

2C>6C frametrap

CH 3C. Just CH 3C

Gad leis. If you dont use this move randomly, you arent doin it right lol

Honestly, we need to get a Relius video guide made. Just need the capture card. Not some cheap 10 minute long thing either, since while great for something likr Guilty Bits, isnt good for people only focused on one character.

I miss Lich, he needs to drop some mad Wai-fu teachings on us other Relius players. Necro, I think you're fantastic, but I don't think newer Relius players should learn from only our examples, we need some tourney level shenanigans up in here.

I honestly don't trust watching too much high end players, especially RYO. When I watch him, because people know who he is, he can get away with a loooooot of stupid stuff. Not saying its bad, but he's got people respecting him for days. Like [5B>5C>6C>41236B]xN is a legit thing for RYO cuz pdople are too afraid of what he -could- do. At least that's what I feel when I watch him play.

I credit that to tourney nerves in general. Although if you do end up scaring a player by resetting them from full HP to zero HP you will get a lot more respect during the next round I find. That just means fear's another tool in our arsenal.

Yeah, but if you tell someone new to watch RYO, and see him do xx into 236C without ignis and not get punished, we're gonna get a lot of bad potatos (joke about one of the first Relius players I had a mirror with in Ex) thinkin this will work all day and they'll never get punished for high damage.

Well then they'll get punished that one time and learn it's not safe, but then they might also pick up how to get the opponent shaken up to the point where it is safe. :V

I hope. When I was on vita extend, a Relius player only did this: 5B>6C>236C>lyra. When I first started playing, I thought this was bullshit, but now that I'm capable... I die a little inside when this player was in the top 100 relius players for vita.

Is Val Tus/214C + 5B our go to Oki setup, disregarding unblockables?

Whats our best stuff without ignis? All these delayed tech timings and rolls make 2B/5B meaties seem not that great. Do i just have to deal with it if i dont have ignis out? I'm new to BB so not sitting still on wakeup is foreign to me.

For 3C oki? Yeah Tus is best unblockables aside. I usually go for 3C>jump>falling j.C to catch rolls in the corner though. If they try and late/quick tech you can 3C them for another combo. if you don't have Ignis out then use the 3C oki to do 3C>5D and get Ignis out.

 

on j.214B>airdash oki 5B or more realistically 665B is your best bet for catching rolls, and if that misses, 6D won't. Look out for DPs and you'll be fine.

My absolute favorite oki after j.214B ender is 22BD. 22B will meaty, and if you do it early enough, 2D catches rolls. Its also dp safe from most DP's, I've had plat's bat and Izayoi's JP beat it, but thats still 24 cast members it works pleasantly on. Bad thing is that if you do it immediately, it will blue beat. However, this conditions them to respect midscreen oki into 214C, which is much more plus on block and leads to a good combo both OTG or regular. Also, for some reason, people forget 2D hits twice which leads to a free combo regardless. There's probably a better combo route for it, but even the simplest combo sets you up again (22B>2D>66B>j.B>dj.B>j.C>j.236C>j.214B

So is ignis dying while in OD a glitch or just very... rare and annoying? I'd be in the middle of a n OD combo and ignis die right in the middle of it.

That's Bizarre, it's never happened to me. What move does she die after? Is she dying right as you initiate OD, because you could just be using OD too late and she's already dead. Can you get it to happen consistently with a particular combo?

Shes dying after 214C in the OD 214ABC pseudo-rekka, even when at like 10% hp.

Yeah, you can break Ignis in OD if you aren't careful.  It's not exactly easy to do...generally have to spam Ignis pretty hard or start at low IG, but it is possible.

so i just wanted to say thank you to every who's posting here, the combo thread, and the match up threads. I just picked up Relius about a week and a half to 2 weeks ago and he is way to much fun. Also for me personally the match vid of Ryo vs. Azreal ft10 in CP1.1 was an amazing video to watch and learn a bunch of combo timing and different mixups/pressure. If any one wants to learn Relius i highly suggest watching that video. Keep throwing up the great posts guys I just keep absorbing information and slowly but surely getting better and better.

No? Ignis can't die in overdrive. If I see her health go to 0 on accident sometimes I'll just overdrive so she doesn't die.

Well that's good to hear, lately its been just Necro, myself and the occasional lovely guest star. -_-" (Sorry 'bout the mod thingy)

 

It'd be super cool of you to stop by the 1.1 Combo thread and add any necessities that we may have missed. Things like frame tight fatal loops and OD combos are all but foreign to me.

 

I'll be checking up on your FAQ to see if I can improve my understanding and efficiency with the character. I already have new oki tech to try out thanks to you!
