Ctrlaltwtf Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Next on my list of things to do is to get some smattering of FRKZ BnB down pat followed by challenging our campus BB players. 6C -> j.4C -> 6 -> j.4C -> 6 -> j.4C repeat as necessary. The funny thing is I'm not even kidding.

I totes have the video bookmarked of it. It's lulz. Edit: So what IS the deal with FRKZ in CP? Is it's duration not fixed anymore? I'm confused by what I'm seeing. :S Edited January 7, 2013 by Krackatoa
Krackatoa Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 So. A few problems with Tuesdays. Schedule suddenly changed to put a 5 to 9pm class in Tuesday afternoons. Luckily it's one I'll be exempt for soon, since I took an identical class at another college. Until then, I kind of have to go to it. That means late Tuesday gathering tomorrow and shift of the Gonq meets to Mondays at 6pm until I can get my paperwork finalized.
Rigel Cyrosea Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 So gathering is on for tomorrow, but not till 9:00?
Judgment_Flame Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 (edited) I have a class ending around 9 today, so any time after that I'll be there. Edited January 8, 2013 by Judgment_Flame

LiveWireX Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Was thinking of checking it out, but I have to bow out since the person bunking with me needs my car for the night.

Krackatoa Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 (edited) Anyone know where I can get a HITBOX for a good deal? I know that there's guys who sell Hitbox-style plexi for TEs. That's your best bet. www.tek-innovations.com/arthobbies/ Custom orders and stuff works too. This guy used to sell Hitbox style layouts specifically, don't know what happened. Essay Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Is HQ open tonight? If so, anybody going to be there who plays GG? I'm not quite good to go for a session yet, but I'll let you know as soon as I'm game.
Krackatoa Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Now if I can only land these sweet combos in a real match... -_-;
Essay Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Now if I can only land these sweet combos in a real match... -_-; We talking impractical starters for your character or just execution troubles? And which game? I just found out about BB and P4A's advanced-input buffer on held buttons. Godlike feature that. Now all of a sudden I can do Aigis combos. :bad:

I just found out about BB and P4A's advanced-input buffer on held buttons. Godlike feature that. Now all of a sudden I can do Aigis combos. :bad: General execution troubles. A lot of it to do with me just having shitty timing when distracted, plus how proration might differ depending on when you OTG. :S I won't know if it's a problem until I get a chance to play against peeps.
Rigel Cyrosea Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 If you're having trouble landing combos in a match that you can do consistently in training mode, play arcade mode. People tend to disregard the value of arcade mode, because computers don't act like real players, but it can definitely be useful if you focus on the right things. Hit confirming, doing combos in a real match, spacing, converting off of weird situations like trades... Also, if you're not already familiar with the entire cast, it can help you learn what each of the characters can do.
Essay Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 (edited) If you're having trouble landing combos in a match that you can do consistently in training mode, play arcade mode. What he said. In games like these with so much going on on the screen, it's hard at first to try to juggle hit-confirming and general execution on top of pacing, movement, reacting to your opponent's character, reading your opponent, timer/meter-management, and wacky ArkSys character-specific sub-systems. When we go into training mode, that whole second group is usually out of the way, but it can hit you like a ton of bricks as you jump back in. Best advice is getting as much drilled into memory and "feel" as possible to free up your mind for the stuff that you're actually worried about and lacking in. Feel that framedata, hurtbox gif, run speed, or whatever in live matches now (even if you've only got the computer to work with) and you'll have an easier time thinking about execution later. Fewer distractions. plus how proration might differ depending on when you OTG. :S With someone in Guilty Gear, or is that in BB and P4A too? Because, yeah, it's there in GG and it's more timing-imperative than it looks, unless your whole OTG is just about setting up a tech-chase (which can be a valid use of it). Haha, yeah. But no. No Aigis combos for you, I says. Now I have a hit-confirm string. Ho-ho-ho. Edited January 14, 2013 by Essay
Krackatoa Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 (edited) I'm doing Bang FRKZ BnB combos in Extend. End of the combo looks like j.D > Dash.3 > OTG 2B > [Dash.9 > j.4C > Dash.6 > j.4C > Dash.6 > j.4C > Land] x 3 or 4 depending on the combo. I'm wondering if I have to worry about when I hit the 2B, since I read that proration can alter based on when I hit the downed character (They might have a bouncing animation or something) Also, Algonquin College meet is Monday! 6:10PM onwards. Student Commons, Room e206b above the Starbucks. Edited January 14, 2013 by Krackatoa
LiveWireX Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Bah, boo your hit-confirms, Essay. Them's the scrub thing to use, lol.
Judgment_Flame Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Can't make it to algonquin tonight, monday evenings are busy for me.
LiveWireX Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 I also have to admit that I thought the DL/Not-Capcom meetups were either on Tuesdays or Thursdays though...huh...
Krackatoa Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 I had to reschedule it. As soon as I fix my schedule, we'll be back to Tuesdays. Also, the Algonquin meetups are an "all title" meetup, but I have everything on hand, and will have ample consoles to go around sometime in the near future.
