I had a good deal of fun at the last monday AC session, and I'd like to try going to one of the ottawa HQ meet ups. I got an idea of where it is, clemow and bronson iirc, but is there any way I could get a specific address? Would love to play more when I got the time!

I am out to get your Valkenhayn.

Love, Bruce.

Event Details

Algonquin Competitive Gaming is throwing a giant gaming event. We've come across a trove of 360s and EVO Monitors thanks to Gaming Ottawa, and with the help of the community and the Algonquin Student Body, we plan to throw the most sick set of tournaments ever. The event will be livestreamed, and HD recordings will be saved and uploaded for perusal after the event.

The venue is some serious dope ass shit. There's a well-stocked cafeteria open late into the day, and a Starbucks open until 9:00pm. Restaurants/Tim Hortons close by. A minute South off the 417 highway.

We're going to try to run tournaments for every game, with either Top 8 or Top 3 for every title broadcasted and recorded. If the FGC is up for it, you're free to set up shop and do your own broadcasts/recording. We have the space, and the government-level upload. We'll make space for you.

We're going to try and have a free-play area for casual matches and a place to bring your own setup. I'm going to bend over backwards to make this event as legitimate as possible. Since I come from the FGC almost exclusively, I'll be keeping an ear to you guys to tell me what needs to go down.

Every dollar you put into tournament entry will go right into the pots. Venue costs are pending, but should be free for console play.

Give me input on what you want to see there, and any suggestions you can make towards running all these tournaments in as smooth a fashion as possible would be great.

I'm still going to shoutout for volunteer setups and consoles. More can't hurt. Just bring out your gear and set up. We have security cameras in the conference rooms and I'll be implementing some extra measures to keep things safe.

Anyways, more info coming down the line. Stay Hungry.

Well um....holy shit, that's amazing. I'm so freaking hyped at how much awesome stuff going down that I don't even know what to think. Time to start hyping this thing on SRK, TekkenZ, Dream Cancel, Smashboards, GFAQS, and pretty much any other fighting game based board I can think of. I might just wind up signing up for like...5-6 games for the hell of it...even if I don't really play them that much.

There's still a lot pending. I'm in talks with Myles and Co. so things don't end in explosions and shitty tournaments. The LAN may end up very rag-tag due to size. It's not big, only around 60 stations. This means MOBA tournaments are very tough to do properly (Especially since non-MOBA players may be taking up station spots). I wanted to try to organize a remote tourney, but that understandably brings a lot of complications to the fore. Preparation is going to make or break the MOBAs, and I don't have much time.

Luckily, I'll be doing one of these every semester. If this one is a bit bumpy, I'll just do another one... and another one... and another one...

I can do about five before I graduate.

Or I could just Van Wilder this shit.

Haha, that's a pretty good dealy then if you can manage to do that. Though, I'm back and forth on thinking if KOFXIII would run better than SCV or than a game without a physical copy like Skullgirls. On one hand, I want to suggest switching one out for it, but on the other I don't want to be messing with what you got setup only to find out the suggestion bombs, lol.

Anything with fewer entrants runs better. :P

Oh snap. Tis such a shame though, because KOFXIII is godlike.

I'm definitely making it out to HQ tonight. Let's see how much Skullgirls I've forgotten in the past 2 months, and how Aigis (or my week-old Tao) do outside of training mode. Or just GG. GG überall, and such.

I can finally test out this e-sports converter too and see if it feels as lagless as people say.

GGs (c wut i did thar dohohohoho) last night! Definitely a ton of fun with different characters to face. Insert obligatory Potekmin hate here.

But yeah, good to see people picking it to the point where we needed a second PS3 station. The white PS3 is meant for my room but I think I can nab a spare 360 as a dedicated GG station. I might even resort to making PS2 sticks and get the PS2 hooked up again. Get that true 4:3 play going.

In need of a 2nd PS3 station, well hell, that's pretty cool number-wise. For what it's worth, in the next couple of months if I'm going to swing by HQ on a Friday (as I'll probably wind up alternating on trips down between the Algonquin stuff on Mondays and HQ Fridays once I'm more able to make more drives) and you need a 2nd PS3 setup, then I can bring my system since it's already got Extend/P4A/TTT2/SCV/KOFXIII and the PS3 version of AE2012 installed on it.

I'm heading to HQ tonight, and on the topic of ps2 games, the only really cool one I have is CvSNK2, it's been ages since I played that. Also, I'm pretty crap at it XD

Man, GGs last night! I totally thought BB couldn't have rapid mixups but those Valkenhayn wolf movements...My perception of the game has completely changed.

Actually, I'm actually super excited that we have more BB players. We can definitely start that game up back in Ottawa.

Keep on coming and keep on playing!

My goal is to destroy all Valkenhayns.

Had a blast at HQ yesterday, GGs! I'm getting psyched about playing more Order-Sol, I have a ways to go if I want to compete XD

Next monday I'll try and pop into AC after my class ends at 4, but latest I can stay will probably be about 6:30.

I'll be on the campus because I have to get a textbook for my online course anyway on Monday so I expect to be there. Hm...how close proximity-wise is the bookstore to the student commons at Algonquin again?

Go out of the bookstore. Walk straight. 2nd Floor above the Starbucks. Room e206b

Ha, and here I was figuring I had to park in that mall near the student subdivision and walk it from there. Good to know.

People don't seem to believe me when I say the venue is Tits McGee.

Haha, I think people might just assume it's like a typical small 30-person capacity class-room since I dunno what else to picture. Also yeah, I checked the map and was surprised they're next door. Now, any suggestions on places to park? I heard the mall tows people who park there for more than an hour if they're not actually going in the mall so that's kinda off the table. And debating if taking an online course there would make me count as a part-time student since apparently you can park in a couple of lots (I think 8 and 9) after 5pm for free if you're a part time student. I dunno, just trying to find avoiding spending like $12-$15 for a couple of hours worth of parking.

3 and a half hours later edit: I found a place on there I can just camp for $8 the entire day, so I might wind up parking there.

Yo. Algonquin College Monday Meet is tonight. Going to give a good run on those EVO monitors. huehuehue

e206b. Second Floor Above the Starbucks in the Student Commons. 6pm onwards. There will be another stream. I'll get dat overlay going.

I MAY hold a second Tuesday meet with a stream on the following day. Stay posted on that. The way I figure it is that I can leave my rig overnight in the offices. That way I can set up shop two days in a row. I have to make sure I have enough time for homework.
