Netplay commentaries has the same problem as streaming. Wouldn't it be too laggy.

You could just commentate on a saved replay or something to prevent lag.

I just mention commentating on a streamed ranbat match to make it more beneficial for everyone.

Sadly its gonna lag regardless during a streamed event to some degree on Netplay

no new ideas from me but just confirmation I guess

running Skype does cause lag on people that are running below average internet. Me and the guys run Skype almost all day and we play our games normally (even GG) but I know that there is people out there that WILL have problems with lag because of Skype (or not have a computer at all). Shit I have heard people complain more about the lag when running their console's mics than they do from Skype.

on the topic of money in netplay ranbats, I can definitely say that money inspires people to join. Me and Shin ran an online tourney for $100 for 1st place and $20 for 2nd and it got a whole lot of participants. I also believe someone donated $20 on a Xbox Extend ranbat and got a few people hype. If someone can put money down every tourney then I see no problem other than for the person that has to constantly pay up.

I'm planning on continuing the online ranbats for CP when it comes out but since I'm poverty as hell I can't really put down any money on it. I stopped the Extend tourneys because of the small turnout (except for the $100 grand prize tourney) so I said fuck it, and besides Extend sucks :toot:

Netplay commentarys? It could be great too, sure i really like to watch this, and am honest!

But ya, If Vent or Skype, i could not having a problem with vent/skype since i used both back then.

Also its difficult "generating content" when YouTube bans you for burping the melody of a BB theme.

My Akihiko combo vid is blocked in Germany

Xsplit with Skype integration, those who commentates doesn't have to be actual players in the room. And with all that said, I'd be more than glad to provide my streaming services if a said event was to happen.

Ya bibi i was thinking the same thing about this. I can't tell i know a lot bibi, but he a very nice guy, he live stream a lot of games and stream at the BlazBlue group at Montreal for sure. his tips are sure maybe gonna help out.

I see - mixed reports on Skype. I haven't used Skype much at all, so I'd need to test some things out. Does Dustloop have a Skype channel or something? Or is it just one-to-one connection like I have used it in the past?

I personally have never had problem w/ Ventrilo, and it is so easy to set up w/ individual rooms. Though anything that transmit data WILL eat bandwidth, just a matter of efficiency then.

Hellknight, thank you for chiming in. I am now definitely willing to donate some money for online ranbats, though I can't shell out $100. I'm going to cut down on my other vice-money (booze and cigs) and use it towards my nerdlove that is BB.

Yes - Extend is really a BBCS2.5, but in hindsight I think it's still better than P4 (AGH DONT KILL ME)

Ok, let's focus on some specifics. Current topics:

1. Online Ranbat (with monehhh) - Yay/Nay? Any possible concerns? Anyone in EST-Northeast (SUMMON:Zeth!) willing to show me the way to putting this together?

2. Skype or Vent? Would you hang out on Dustloop chat for shit talks and drama? Cuss someone out for mashing? Or are we too wrapped up in our netplay anonymity to chat? Or is this not needed?

3. Streaming - Lag issues/ Logistics concern. I am interested as HELL to watch some of the netplay heroes I've encountered in the past all duke it out for some prize. Whatever happened to Plebeian's Playground?

There isn't a singular Skype channel for DL, but there are a ton of groups that span the community. (character Skype groups, regional Skype groups, etc, etc).

Streaming by a third party (a spectator in the room) should not affect anyone's connection. While as if the leader of the room is streaming and using too much of his bandwith, even if he doesn't play the other players in the room will still be affected. This is based on my own personal tests.

1. I cant participate cuz I dont have ps3 but if someone could take the stream and upload to youtube then i'll watch it.

My netbook too low-tier to watch streams sometimes.

2. I know Iora uses the Mibbit website for the chat room on his ranbats for P4U/BBEX. It works nicely

3. I would like to watch another U-12 play. I could benefit from it. Why didnt they finish Plebeians's playground and we could use an XBL version of it on CP maybe

Skype can run group conversations, it can be both text based or voice. idk what the limit is however but I know it's pretty big.

I don't know if there is a Dustloop chat on Skype, I use the Team DAI chat on Skype to talk to some DL people

if I were to choose, I would choose Skype over Vent mainly because I'm too lazy and I already have Skype lol

Zeth stopped the Danisen League for Extend about around the same time I stopped the online tourneys, I don't even know if he is still interested in running anything anymore, you would have to ask him yourself.

Voice chat limit is typically between 25 people, but you can bypass it easily. For total people allowed in a group, it's 300 last I checked.

Then if we could get LK to put down $100 for every tourney there really would be no problem (j/k).

I wonder if no xbox version would help or hurt.

I guess skype would work with more ppl then.

I dont think we should run too many netplay events for extend at this point but we should always get someone to stream an online event for cp if its possible. It makes it more interesting to be apart of it that way.

I would like an xbox version of whatever yall do lol

I wouldn't mind starting a DL chat on Skype, but only if people actually want to do it.

On the matter of money for tourneys inspiring people, that is indeed so. I don't see why we'd need someone to donate it though. How do tourneys work offline? The participants all chip in and that makes the pot. If we have enough of an interested crowd then it should make up for a pretty decent pot with a small-ish individual fee. Also, having people pay up quite before the time of the tourney would do well to curb the amount of no-shows which typically plagues online tourneys.

I think the issue with the ranbats is that it seems almost intimidating with all the ranks it has and stuff. People can see it as a time investment or as something more than a single tourney so they may be driven off while if they just tried it they may end up liking it and stuff. I think for the beginning just a normal style tournament would be best.

Well, I tell you what, guys. Tomorrow morning I'll pick up a headset since my old one is broke as a broke dick dog, and I want to give a test drive with Bibiquadium (if it's fine with you good sir, you are awesome for volunteering). I won't be able to play until Thursday sadly as I'm going on a hiking trip, but on Thursday or any point thereafter I want to get

1. Skype set up

2. Have some matches going

3. With Bibi streaming (so everyone can see how awful my playing is)

4. For your pleasure so you can Mu-gasm

I agree that extend is running out of life, it just got burst-baited and will die from chip damage any time, but I'd like to get this thing started in anticipation for CP, so that by the time CP hits, it'll be as infectious as a full-blown AIDS epidemic.

Honestly the only prevailing problem I see with netplay right now is that CSE was a terrible idea. CSE should have been CP instead. I tried defending it but I can't even convince myself that CSE's existence is justified.

I have 3 mics and I have no desire to use them with anyone besides online friends (sorry match finder thread, you don't qualify)

Why all the Extend hate. It's supposed to be pretty much the best BB iteration.

Dreiko brings up a good point - Ranbats do tend to intimidate. I really shouldn't talk, as I only played in a couple, if that. At least until CP, a regular tournament format might work better. As for everyone chipping in, I don't think that will be feasible, as I see folks getting upset with lag a lot more if they feel they put down the money. As I've mentioned, I'd be willing to put in $20 (it's small, but hey, it's money), but any more than that may have to be offered through others' donation.

For tournies, you might want to have a league set up so only people in the league can enter so they have to work their way up and commit to playing. That way you don't just have someone beast like LK or someone show up out of nowhere, auto win the money and leave every time. Nothing against LK, but if you want to motivate people who don't play as much to play, they have to feel like they have a realistic chance to win something, right? So then you might want to divide things up into several groups or leagues of people based on skill level.

Or just let anyone join, I dunno. Just trying to think what would make a prize most attractive.

This is the 1st Good Idea of 2013 for Blahblue

I support this even if im never able to actually be apart of it.

I remember banning the top players of the ranking once to let others catch up. Say if someone like LK were to do what mAc said then he would have lots of points and could be viable for a quick ban for certain pick up tournaments. It may sound lame but it worked for me before
