I don't want new characters, I want to own some ass as Faust and Zappa. And maybe Potemkin. His dash would be hilarious.

Considering how diverse the GG Franchise has been lately, we can't really predict the next one will actually be a fighting game. Consider several "other" GG installments: --Guilty Gear: Rise of Arms (Cellphone Game) --Guilty Gear Isuka (4-way chaotic beat em up survival + pseudo 'Final Fight'ish Boost Mode + Robo-Ky Custom Builder) --Guilty Gear Judgment (Take Boost Mode and mulitply it times 5, though I must admit, Boost Mode in Isuka is harder) --Guilty Gear: Dust Strikers (somewhat like Isuka but you have 4 rungs you can knock people off of and fight a freaky monster to boot, Dust Strikers also has a lot of mini-games in it besides). We might actually see a Guilty Gear RPG next time...

Hmmm, an RPG style of Guilty Gear you say? Doesn't sound too bad ~ !

I'd play it. What about a GG/Soul Caliber knockoff. That would be fun.

Just create That Man for Soul Calibur. Easy enough with that Overture art of him...I think. I still prefer creating him in Soul Calibur III though.

Considering that Ishiwatari considers Soul Calibur to be, "frankly, trash", I wouldn't count on it.

Unless you mean something like character customization, which could be awesome. Not many 2D games pull that off. The only one I can think of is the Korean MMORPG, Dungeon & Fighter, which actually has pretty Guilty Gear-esque graphics and plenty of different ways to customize the characters.

I think the main thing to consider is that Ishiwatari and co. seem to want to try and keep Guilty Gear as a competetive franchise, so straight up RPGs or singleplayer games probably aren't very likely. Maybe a full RTS game, or something more like Warcraft 3? GG2 was based on a WC3 mod, after all.

I'd guess it's most likely that we'll just see a followup to GG2 with various upgrades and fixes to make it better. A straight up fighting game mode (1 on 1 arena battle) would certainly be welcome, though, if the engine could support it.

at the very least, they want folks to remember GG exists

that would explain the saucy new Queen's Blade book based on Dizzy (just like the ones that were done for Mai & Iroha from SNK)

Well. If they are gonna make a Warcraft like RTS. I think it is gonna be called:

GUILTY GEAR: FACTIONS

But it is still abit unlikey. since RTS game don't do well in japan. :sweatdrop:

Anyway ontopic.

I was busy doing my fanfiction, but i just cannot get it finish. Because i'm stuck with a few things.

First thing is , is how the guilty gear world looks like. i did saw the drawings and backgrounds in the many GG games and in the GG extra manga. And i try to image how the world really looks likes:

-The farm grounds: large fields of certain kins of crop. the farms are old, and are littered with many protection charms such as crucifixes that protect them against bad luck and certain monsters that still stalk during the night. Their ways of harvest are old-fashioned. no high-tech machinery (maybe steam powered ones who's water is heating by magic?)

- Towns. large busy places. where people from all places gather for trade or bounty. the towns have a medieval look but the houses are way more modern inside. the buildings are powered by magic.

- Cities. very large places, lots of machinery present (maybe look like those steam powered ones in the stream age?). The place is littered with lots of gothic like structures. everything is powered by magic. certain buildings even float in the air. the place is chaotic and busy and shopping districts kris cross the place.

-The forests and grasslands: Lots of ancient trees because of cleaner air, water and soil (thanks to magic being mankind's main power source). Lots of unique animals and humanoids walk the lands (maybe because of mankind's use of magic?) xD.

-The forbidden area's: Area's that are forbidden to enter, the soil is tainted with the blood of a giant gear (such as the hydra megalith gear) Or the area is used as a testing ground for certain forbidden experiments with magic. The soil looks black and scorched and i also think that mutated vermin such as giant rats and acid spitting cockroaches walk on these area's. Fences, walls and barbwire are put there to prevent people from entering these area's, highly guarded by soldiers who kill before they ask questions.

-Graveyards: lots of maple gravestones. lots of shady and scary figures inhabit the area. sometimes remains of gears are present there, hang on a certain wall as a grim reminder of how horrible the crusades are. Some places such as "the wicked forest" are littered with 10 meter long crucifixes for each person that has died during the crusades(not sure if that is true.. ). a few temples near the graveyards sell good luck charms and other stuff.

-Ghost towns. Towns left behind because of a certain disaster. mysterious crystals littered the place. their origin is unknown.

What is important to understand that the main source of power is magic. But how much that affects the world is still abit unclean towards me. Maybe Blade can enlighten me with his points of views

The second thing i have trouble with is about how the humans fought the gears during the crusades. did they use firearms? Or did they use medieval weaponry such as spears, swords and shields? The things i do know is they did use cannons, mostly on the airships, and i did saw a little drawing on the GG extra manga where i saw someone holding some staff towards some Gear suggesting that the soldiers during the crusades also got support from people who know who to use that magic without the use of a outrage weapon.

But i do think that trying to control magic without a outrage weapon, is very hard to do. And people who did control it have a big force of will,But i doubt that they will ever reach the same level of power as Ky,Anji and Sol because of the lack of a outrage weapon.

Blade what do you think?

Magic is sort of a pure, green, energy source. After magic became scientific fact, all old world technology (including conventional modern weaponry like guns, bombs, and tanks) was outlawed as Blacktech because it harmed the environment; Blacktech is rare, and, when discovered, is often destroyed by authorities. The only nation that doesn't comply with the laws against Blacktech is Zepp, though neutral organizations (like the Assassin's Guild) seem to use it if they can get ahold of it. People are capable of using magic without the Outrage; the Outrage only help to focus and enhance magical energy and make it more easy to control. Jam, Kliff, and Chipp can all use Ki magic, for example, while Axl can use fire. Some types of magic are easier to control than others. There were entire divisions of the Sacred Order of Holy Knights that specialized in magic.

Regarding locations that Sunnyday mentioned: A lot of "cities" that have appeared in GG are either recently rebuilt or hidden away from the natural world due to Kekkai (seals) barriers and other dimensional uses of magic. That, and there has been a recent outcropping of places that exist "outside" what is considered the natural world, one I can think of is the Makai or Underworld where Yokai beings exist (think Izuna/Slayer), and then you have areas that are actually "floating islands" (see Zappa's stage for reference). A lot of stuff by now has been constructed by magic and there are whole cities where mages/witches/wizards reside in (see GG Isuka). There are wild wastelands where gears actually roam free from what I understand. There is a lower/upper crust in societies where you have noble classes and lower peasant classes so it's somewhat like a mix of modern and middle ages, depending on the location. Some places still maintain a sense of technology even if it doesn't involve cars or something futuristic, as usually blacktech is associated with weaponry/security systems. Remember, Zepp is an Airship Nation, they don't have a geography to speak of. There are still farms and villages of course, but these are scattered apart from what I understand. There are still major cities under IPF's protection and jurisdiction. And of course castle and city ruins all over the world, like visiting Nagasaki and Hiroshima after the fallout. To be quite honest, Guilty Gear has a big mix of modern technology, middle age classicalism, ancient spiritual mysticism, ancient folklore, and mythologies from different cultures. I know that sounds like a blanket explanation, but let's say you were to mix what you know (backstory-wise) of Ancient Grecco-Roman wars, Darkstalkers (especially Vampire Savior/Chaos Tower), Street Fighter, Last Blade, King of Fighters, with just a hint of Hokuto no Ken's Mad Maxx apocolyptica....then you might get the "gist" of what Guilty Gear has as far as a backdrop. Regarding the crusades: At first the initial idea is that Gears were "used" as weapons by various nations that suddenly turned on their masters, so you can essentially expect there was a massacre or two. On top of this, you have Megadeth class gears that can level whole cities (who knows what inspired their creation?). Humans had little if anything they could use to combat gears at first, and even though guns were considered blacktech by then (since the use of Magic abolished traditional weaponry), they were still used in smaller circles/elite groups. (Consider that Sol was able to survive several gunshots after going Dragon Install...(GGX Drama CD) By the time the Sacred Order of Holy Knights was formed, Frederick had already created a solution in the form of the OutRage Jinki, which are traditional weapons redesigned with the capabilities of conducting and amplifying magic. Though only a select few used Jinki, there were other weapons designed with the idea in mind. Probably, if you consider the Soul Sinker system in GG2, you could get some idea of how combat was conducted with groups of soldiers working in the front lines as a physical force and magic soldiers working behind those etc etc Military tactics, in other words you had different groups working together in formation to defeat the gears who had an assortment of innate magical ability. Of course, Gears come in all shapes and sizes and dangers, so at first they may not necessarily have used military formations like humanity did at first, since they were created as weapons to be efficient in and of themselves, but humans can most likely adapt to various combat situations and develop new methods to deal with the Gear armies. Gears also have a tendency to work as a hive mind i.e. follow the command type Gear, expectedly their flaw, Gears would generally not do anything unless Justice or another command type gave the order. Humans more than likely tried to take advantage of this, by aiming specifically for Justice many times, though that wasn't easy in the end (and probably resulted in many casualties). And if you consider how dangerous Justice might have been had she been similar to Valentine's boss form, then it takes on a whole new meaning to "untouchable", though Sol managed to negate that with little trouble (though I think he had Ky's help...a little). So to sum up: magic, weapons, ki, a combination of ancient martial arts, and other things played a factor in the Crusades. Even alchemic beings like Flament Nagel existed as living weapons. It's interesting to note that the Postwar Administrative Bureau is aware of Ki users, Japanese, Jinki, Yokai, Blacktech Robotics, Interdimensional beings, Forbidden Magics, and Gears of course...not necessarily because of their observations of the world, but more than likely their ability to utilize some if not all of those categories. That tells me they had a hand in the Crusades just as much as the Sacred Order and Gears did.

hey someone is posting info from the 10th Year Artbook

sure its gamefaqs, but it is kinda interesting.

Whee! The topic I started had important information following after. Anyways, a guy there gave a link for a scan of the relationship sheet. Ky and Dizzy with a heart in between? Hmm...

*Sigh* ABA is so lonely. Look at her, she's all alone in that sheet. She's not even with her brother.
