Guilty Gear Stories (spoilers abound!)

It seems a little ridiculous to lump all official story discussion into what was essentially a fanfiction thread, in what's basically a big fanart/cosplay section. At least, I think so.

I'd much rather see official story + official art seperated from fanfiction + fanart. Make a new forum section, call it "The Bureau", and put all official GG/BB stuff in there, then leave Zepp Museum to fan-created stuff. I don't think something like that would be too much to ask for.

Good suggestion, I don't mind mixing official with the fan stuff but separation may be indeed helpful. When I got addicted to GG last year I have to painfully scan dozens of threads and around 300 worth pages of posts to look for information (because Wikipedia lacks!) Well if a KyXDizzy fangirl is desperate...

i kinda disagree, maybe if the forum was *only* for fandom discussion that would work, but DustLoop has to weigh gameplay and fandom, and to try to justify a new subforum for "official non-gameplay material only" would be quite the uphill battle. if you really want to segregate the two topics, just make another thread for "official story/art stuff", and i don't think it'd be a problem to get it stickied in here.

anyway, i think whenever i finish up my first part of my fanfic, i'll start a new thread that everyone can post their fics in, for either GG or BB i guess, and for comments on those fics and to tell everyone leave all the storyline arguments to this thread here.

Since we're on the discussion, I honestly think there should be someone backing all this info up, just in case the forum implodes or something. Lately it seems my posts regardless of importance to other people or to myself get deleted over a set period of time in the name of "forum cleanup". As for what Suzaku and Zazz said...now that I earnestly think about it, this forum isn't exactly a good venue for GG Storyline aspects, but simultaneously, it is the only major GG collective I am aware of besides Gamefaqs. At least before, we had Holy Zen, but that's gone now...or at least on undetermined hiatus. If someone with both influence and a dedicated server, along with some level of maturity and what I'd like to call "GG Clout" (not referring to myself), was able to make a large forum community based on Guilty Gear lore, or perhaps an RP or Fanfiction section for it as well (with just a hint of fighting strategy, game info, or related Blazblue and other Arcsys such'n'such)...I don't see why that wouldn't be a hard thing to do. The only "hard thing" about it, is getting people to go there and build a community, since most people play GG competitively over Story, or barely know anything about the Story since a lot of it gets left out or clipped from the U.S. versions. What's more...Guilty Gear players are perceived as "elitists" by a good majority of the fighting community, while the non-serious players (or story oriented players anyway) are just written off as scrubs and otakus. It's somewhat of an unspoken curse, sadly. The main ingredient for such a place would be a place for people to go and talk about GG and socialize (but not trash talk), talk about fiction writing or other projects, artists are welcome too, etc, creative venues, heck, even music and metal fans would be welcome there, I think.

I'm on it for quite a while, but you all post interesting things in quite a few threads, so I'm not _sure_ I backed up everything. Recent Suzaku translations are very interesting, of course.

I'm too old/rusty/tired for gathering info and stuff myself, but I won't let GuiltyGear.ru go away, so should any of you guys/girls gather all official info in one/few FAQ/timeline/.txt/.html/whatever, I'll ensure it won't go down in next 10 years at very least =)

I'm pretty sure .ru was saying that the site would be able to collect all the info we come up with. All you mentioned was what would happen to all the info if DL imploded, not the community itself. ...Unless I'm missing something? Anyway, since I'm still fairly noobish to DL, I'm not sure what this thread used to be back in the day, but it seems clear that a good re-ordering is in... well, order. If this was indeed a fanfic-esque story thread, the official stuff should most definitely be in an official thread. ...If there isn't one already. Oh, and if the original purpose of this thread was indeed fanfiction and such, is there an actual place to put plot musings, guesses, surmisings, contemplations, hypotheses, interpretations, and speculations? So yeah! I don't really know what I'm talking about anymore, so carry on, my good chaps!

I personally think it'll be a shame to disconnect from the dustLoop community, especially since it's arguably one of the largest websites focusing on GG (and now BB). New players and fans come to this site all the time for gameplay tips, but they often stop by the Zepp Museum too.

Would it be possible to create child forums? (Canon, Fics, Cosplay, Speculation/Theories, etc.) Having stickies is a great way to organize, but those threads usually become so conovulted and off-topic in a short time that it's a huge hassle to read through and get the information that you want, y'know?

Or maybe havin' stickies with the links to specific threads, I dunno.

Well, back in the olden days, The Gear Project was pretty much entirely plot discussion, as I recall. When that went down in flames, people migrated around to Holy Zen! or Roman Cancel, and of course, these days, Dustloop is pretty much the only notable Guilty Gear forum around, though it caters almost exclusively to the competitive aspects of the [2D] Guilty Gear [fighting] games.

Story discussion only got shoehorned into this thread when people started bitching about story mode discussion and theories in the Accent Core + thread (as opposed to general gameplay discussion, I assume).

Whatever the case, I certainly wasn't suggesting breaking away from Dustloop, just that story discussion could be better organized for the people who are interested in it.

It wasn't my intention to toot my own horn if it sounded like it, my apologies, especially considering the helps of so many others in this thread to put stuff together...I'm just concerned about keeping the info we've found over the long haul (I've had stuff get completely deleted in the past due to forum hacking years ago, so I get worried sometimes). As for prunings, I wasn't aware you guys had a decent archive to begin with. I'm quite surprised, actually, and thankful. Maybe it's because of the way Tragic described how he pruned things that I got that bad impression.

Anyways, at this point I don't see a problem with breaking Fanfiction away in its own thread and putting GG Story resources in its own thread as well. Though I think it's worth mentioning that the line between Fanfic and StoryFact blurs sometimes, so discussion probably won't change much in either thread, just saying.

@Suzaku: That reminds me...someone should make a list of everyone's birthdays for GG (stacked with Blazblue's Birthdays why not?). Also interesting: I-no's Birthday is listed as Unknown in XX...but in AC+ it's revealed as November 25th.

Blade Ashercroix got it right - I was merely saying that I'll be glad to provide (non-pruning) hosting for every official GG info one submits, be it text or images. As for plot, right now I only have chang's FAQ for story\timeline, which is hopelessly outdated, so I'm very willing to replace it.

I don't agree with this. No matter how accurate it is, a story written by a fan is a fanfic. Fanfic is fanfic and has no place in the official story, even if it follows it to a T. Not all fanfiction has to be crack A.U., and any fanfics that have speculation, even extremely probable speculation, are still fanfiction. Any theories born from them should be relegated to a theory and analysis thread. In my opinion.

Well, it seems that many of us are on the same boat, at least with separating and organizing canon and fandom. I guess the next step would be to make an official request thread in the feedback forum?

Faust/Baldhead is one of those 4th wall things. Body type, way of speaking, bouts of crazyness, the billion and a half clues left to his identify. Everyone who plays the game knows Faust and Baldhead are the same person. The public at large doesn't, in the GG world. Faust looks crazy enough NOW, who would want to let him operate if they all knew he was the infamous Doctor Baldhead?
