D.R.F. Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 I just wish the other xrd stick didnt havr super lips sol lol
ElvenShadow Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 He's getting patched in Feb 23rd as part of the ASW Update Promotion. BBCP is receiving Jubei and Nine on that day. P4UUSH is receiving Femtag and Masao (complete with Mark reskin for the US release. PAL will instead receive an update that bricks their PS3s). Really? Source on Leo?
Soviet Bear Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 He's just pulling your scalpel, Elven.
JCraile Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Did Karinchou dropped Ramlethal? I've seen him used Millia more than trice now.
Yukikaze Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Really? Source on Leo? I don't think you read his last sentence.
Clousephinat Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 LOL, if I-No is A tier in this game, it would be equal as saying she was like at least S++ in Slash and +R.
the_d3v Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 I just wish the other xrd stick didnt havr super lips sol lol I wish that one didn't look like it was just patched together using whatever parts Sanwa had on hand. The stick looks almost like something that small builders like MAS or AIAB used to do back in the day (no offense to MAS). Heck, modern custom builds actually look better than it.
Rhannmah Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 LOL, if I-No is A tier in this game, it would be equal as saying she was like at least S++ in Slash and +R. You can't compare different games like that. Different core system mechanics make Xrd a whole other animal. Because of YRC, I-No can force you to block on wakeup while still being in your face and safe via fastfall VCL YRC. She can force a knockdown from ANY confirm with HCL followup. The inputs for chemical loves have been incredibly simplified and are auto jump-install; simplified commands don't SEEM like much, but lowering the execution requirement is an incredible boon for a character like her. Previous to Xrd, getting a knockdown mostly required meter and/or correct positioning, now she can put you in a bad situation easily over and over. I don't know if i'd say that I-No is on equal grounds with Chipp; maybe, but i can say for sure that as you wouldn't compare characters from Guilty Gear and Street Fighter, you can't compare XX and Xrd like that. It's a lot more subtle because, on the surface, the games seem almost identical, but when you dig deeper, you realize that they are very different, especially with what the new cancel system brings to the table. The ability to slow down time, check the situation and react accordingly makes Xrd very different than XX, and I-No is, once again, one of the characters that utilizes this system the best.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 The TE2 looks nice but with all that awesome Daisuke art, you'd think the faceplate would have a nice artistic design like pretty much all their other arcade sticks. Like the only way you know it's GG is because it has the GG Xrd logo, usually they ave character art on the sticks that make it look awesome and a worth while purchase. Somewhat disappointed honestly, but I'm more concerned with it working how I want ti to then it being pretty. Oh well...

I agree, it looks too bland and simple for a stick (especially with how Madcatz usually makes the art for their sticks). I hope the stick art was just a prototype of a design and that they add more to it in the next couple of months.

I thought it was a prototype too, but with it appearing on srk today, I'm starting to think that's the way it's going to be sold... I like the xrd sanwa stick come at me The art is awesome, but I hate the shape of it (it's a bloody block shape) and I hate sticks with slopes like that where your hands go, I find it uncomfortable, I don't like the angle in which the buttons are placed (slight semi-circle, which is not how Madcatz place their buttons and I'm used to their sticks), and finally it's like $361, wtf?!!! It's nice but not that nice lol. Real talk if they put the sanwa art on the madcatz stick, I might fuck with that. But it being so bland when they USF4 art is so dynamic, I'm kinda disappointed lol.
MasterXDrake Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Do you guys think the PS4 pad will be OK to play the game?, I can't get a PS4 and the stick together, too much money. I don't have the console yet so I have no clue if the d-pad is good for fighting games. The PS4 controller is better than PS3 controller in every way.

I don't see why I can't compare Xrd with XX, fighting games are still fighting games, and we are still talking about GG, not another game. Imagine that someone asks you which is the best fighting game in terms of gameplay, what would be your answer then? There's no one being better than another just because there are not EXACTLY the same game? At least for myself, I wouldn't like to play games that are all the same if that's what it takes to criticize something. As far as I can see until now, all the things she can do with YRC were things she could perfectly do before, but HCL and VCL must now be first hit and MUST hit the opponent if you don't want to lose meter for nothing, and to that purpose they have even shortened the range of both of them *facepalm Seriously, I have lost count of the quantity of players that they were able to win just because they were lucky to catch someone with j.D, and that's because is one of the few things she can still do to incite some fear, but aside from that, unlike Slash/AC/+R you can't use f.S as a tool for combo anymore, and you can't use Dives as baits for mixups anymore, and j.D still has the same frame data it seems, so even that can still be a bad thing especially against shoryuken characters like Sol and Ky. I don't have any doubt that I-No can still has some benefits with the new RC system, but it's not like she's the only character that can take advantatge of this, Millia is way more fearsome than before with the time slow and the change of the ring which now prevents you to escape in oki, Venom can now make combos from a large distance and unlike her even if Venom is unable to succeed, he can do more chipp damage and has more control of space, and that makes a huge difference compared to I-No, so you can't seriously tell me she's one of the characters that makes more profit with the new system, because then again, except for RRC, everything she can do with YRC are things she can perfectly do in previous games. EDIT: Oh well, except for YRC Longing Desesperation if anything. But with 6P>5HS you can follow up with HCL without much problem and add 6FRC6 to that if you want, but once again, with HCL having lost range and you'll have to lose 50% meter now instead of 25%...
mynus Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 You can't be serious. We just established how VCL YRC completely shuts down all defensive option selects and various reversals. This is the main difference, plus forcing KD from ANY hit. She could not negate reversals or defensive option selects 100% outside/inside meaty attacks in XX series. YRC allows many chars able to force respect on oki. Plus, if you are mashing reversal in pressure in anticipation of j.D, you are going to get baited, and die. You are comparing I-no with previous versions like everything about the two games is similar enough to do so, as if she is the only char that changed in any way. When you are forced to hold her set play on defense then you will realize that the comparison attempt is in vain.
Rhannmah Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 I don't see why I can't compare Xrd with XX, fighting games are still fighting games Man, Street Fighter 2X Blanka(one of the worst characters in that game) would be god tier in Street Fighter 4! A grab that still deals 50% damage when teched, 3 hit combos that stun outright for a followup combo that generally KO's, super fast jumps and extremely high damage! He'd be unstoppable! Sure, you -can- compare different games, even within their own franchise, but does it really make sense to do so? but it's not like she's the only character that can take advantatge of this, Millia is way more fearsome than before with the time slow You are right, but I didn't say that she was. That's why I said "one of the characters". Always remember that tier lists and matchups aren't established in a vacuum, they are always relative to the environment in which a character is. I'm not saying that it will, but if, for example, Elphelt's gameplay completely shuts down Faust, he would drop down the tier list a little.
Errol Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 I know in CT Nu didn't keep Rachel and Arakune from also being S. Can't imagine Elphelt would change anything in tier lists...
destruction_adv Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 I know in CT Nu didn't keep Rachel and Arakune from also being S. Can't imagine Elphelt would change anything in tier lists... if you're making a list based exclusively on match ups it would, and people do make those.
Rhannmah Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 I know in CT Nu didn't keep Rachel and Arakune from also being S. I think that's because CT Nu vs CT Rachel was a 3-7 matchup -at worst-. Think more lopsided than that, more along the lines of 9-1. If it had been roughly impossible for Rachel to beat Nu in most games, she wouldn't be able to maintain S tier status, I think. But then again Dhalsim is considered top tier in Street Fighter 2X, just under Claw, who happens to beat him at least 8-2 if not 9-1, so i dunno ¯\(°_o)/¯ Can't imagine Elphelt would change anything in tier lists... That's why I started my sentence with "I'm not saying that it will"
Anne Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 if you're making a list based exclusively on match ups it would, and people do make those. One character isn't going to bork a MU chart, and all tier lists are created on the basis of MUs anyways.
Antitidus Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 The PS4 controller is better than PS3 controller in every way. Nah not really. The triggers are a huge problem for me. Those are specifically designed for shooters. I don't play every goddamn shooter that comes out. I play an occasional Resistance and Planetside, or just unique ones but not all the damn time. I once tried to play USF4 with the DS4 and doing hard attacks just annoying. I also played it on the Xbox 360 controller and that felt weird too. maybe its just me but I have a PS4, but for some games like I would definitely prefer DS3's L2 n R2. So using the DS4 for fighters is a no for me. Just my opinion.

I hope the stick art was just a prototype of a design and that they add more to it in the next couple of months. As previously stated, I highly disagree. I find the clean, abstract design, without any character art that instead plays with the theme of the game and wraps it around the arcade stick parts to be so much classier. My only complaint would be that they didn't add a gear design around the buttons, but then again, the smaller space in between due to the larger holes in the acrylic cover might have forestalled that.
Leopold Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 I ordered the Ultra Madcatz tournament edition. I was told it would be out on late November in the U.S so it should make it on time for Xrd. We still don't have an official date for NA Xrd neither. My guess is that these Xrd sticks will be out for the japanese market rather than N.A so expect high shipping cost to import. Lastly, do we have any important updates on the new Xrd character Leo? I'm dying to know more about him
