Leopold Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 hi guys this will be my first guilty gear and I'm so hyped :D but I don't know who play with... When I lived in Japan I used to play with chipp but my playing style is more like amane or yukiko character. So my question is: is there any zoning character in gg xrd ?? Go with Axl my friend.

I'd say Ramlethal or Axl would be your best bet.
antonymichiru Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 I'd say Ramlethal or Axl would be your best bet. Oh Ramlethal also ? Nice... I'll try with her too... I just don't like Axl weapons ... so noisy :D
Destin Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Faust is a very good choice for a beginner, and he can zone if he wants to. He can go where he wants to, a place where they will never find. And he acts like he comes from out of this world leaves the real one far behind. And he dresses real neat from his hat to his feet and surprises em with a victory cry. Don't even get me started on his anti air's! As long as he abuses it, he's never gonna lose it. Everything will work out right. Good choice if you want to zone. A safety choice. To dance.
Mumm-Ra Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Yeah. That was the deal from the get go. That's part of the reason I thought it was worth it. It should come with the plates, the link did mention the plate designs were subjected to changes when it first surfaced a few months back? Cool, thanks. Now, do I use the Lipstick Sol one, the generic (albeit cool looking) logo one, or the billiard balls one? Decisions, decisions...
Spoonman Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Greetings everyone:) I have been lurking around here for a long time. I never played any Arc System fighter in a way that i can call "proper". I picked all of them up though, probably my brain cannot work fast enoguh to play them. I m mainly an SF (3.3 X and 4 mainly) and KOF (2002-XIII mainly). Those games, i can play properly. This silly semi-introduction since this is my first post here, as I decided, after spending 20 hours in 2 days playing P4U challenge mode, that I want to pick up GGXrd and i need to not let myself just finish challenge modes without playing vs out of fear (like i do with GG, BB and P4). I want to play, learn, compete. I live in Europe, that means my only means of playing GGxrd are through importing the game from either Japan or the US. My question is probably silly, but still i have to formulate it. I m on the fence about the region from where I'll get the game. Do any of you know if the JP version has dual language? (meaning english text, as I appreciate there is no english DUB atm) I would love to get this game on the 4th of December instead of the 16th. Thanks for the patience you had, reading through all this junk.
Clousephinat Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Like in Overture, only the US version will have English dub as well as of course subs of the same.

SolxBaiken Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 There will likely be battle voice clips in dual audio for netplay compatibility, but that's it.

As far as we know, JP version will only have JP voice + JP subtitles (including menus) BUT, one of the kind japanese speaker here will probably translate the menu for us. And if you take the time to read (not understand) the katakana/kanjis, you'll eventually remember them and navigate without issue after some time.
NeoStrayCat Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Yeah, I guess, well anyways guys...Hype for US Demo coming tomorrow, the PS Blog article mentions its the same one, and yes, its also a 2 week trial, but hey, at least it laps around the JP release and a week before the US release. And that's all, for now.
LeDom Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 No demo for PS3 but hey; I'll just play the patience game instead
NeoStrayCat Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Quickie update on the US Demo, Russell replied back to me on the PS Blog, yes, we'll get English Voices! X3
Clousephinat Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Looking forward to listen to I-No in the dub, but to expect something better than Inoue is just impossible :P
antonymichiru Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Guys, can zato be considered a zoning character??
Leopold Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Guys, can zato be considered a zoning character?? I guess he could but not really well. He's pure pressure that can't take pressure himself.
king of heart Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Guys, can zato be considered a zoning character?? Lol I am pretty sure you saw the drill. You can Zone with him but he is a puppet character like Carl and Relius which kinda different from what you're looking for. You can play Venom or Axel or Faust or Ram.

Actually i can understand JP quite well, just not as much as English. I feel pretty good with spoken Japanese, reading kanjis though is a pain (furigana is not an option i guess, since this is not targeted towards early teens..right?). I feel especially lost when kanji are paired together and meanings start to vary quite a lot (I just learned speaking from my wife and never bothered really studying Kanji in depth). My only fear is not being able to understand the tutorials (if they don't read them out loud), do you think I could skip them and just try and pick up the game's basics from this forum? Sorry if i am a bother but I'm really psyched for this game:)! Thanks again for all of your replies guys.
NesmerII Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Lol I am pretty sure you saw the drill. You can Zone with him but he is a puppet character like Carl and Relius which kinda different from what you're looking for. You can play Venom or Axel or Faust or Ram. What the heck are you guys talking about? If you want to play, or more specifically, get GOOD at zoning, the only logical choice is to play Potemkin. Never before have I appreciated the art of character spacing than when I desperately try to close the distance between myself and someone who wants nothing to do with Ol' Pote. Before you can zone and control the screen, you must grow to hate the screen. Every single pixel that separates a grappler from his opponent becomes your enemy. You must study and become familiar with this enemy, for only then will you have the power to control it. It is the blind man that is often the one who can truly see! Or, you know, you could be an all around cool dude and play Axl because there aren't enough good Axl players.
king of heart Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Quickie update on the US Demo, Russell replied back to me on the PS Blog, yes, we'll get English Voices! X3 English voices only !? So that means that i will mute my TV until the JP version get released.
Leopold Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 My take is that he better stick with Axl. But he's free to choose whatever he wants/enjoys There's honestly too many good choices on Xrd.
NeoStrayCat Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 English voices only !? So that means that i will mute my TV until the JP version get released. Not like there's a choice cause there's no "Options" in the Demo regardless. But yeah, if you want to, then that's OK for you.
Coffeeling Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Or, you know, you could be an all around cool dude and play Axl because there aren't enough good Axl players. Or, you know, you could be a cancer and a part of the problem and play Faust because there will be hordes of people playing him and filling the screen with crap and f.S Sincerely, DWB.
