However, the 2D unblockable is different from the 4DD 2K unblockable (even tho nobody does this)... does SB actually block that unblockable too?

No. You would have to slash back both attacks and I doubt anyone could slash back twice in just 2 or so frames. =/

In fact, overall he just below being even. That is fantastic. It means that whatever it was that he got in AC, it made him an all-around solid character at last. Zappa once again owns souls for free!

I think that was the whole point of Zappa when the developers made him, its just that something went horribly wrong and he kind of sucked. But now its on!!!!! He had so many bad matchups and, like you said, now he's almost even. I partly believe its the fact that all of his summons got a boost and the nerfs that the other characters got. Zappa got very few nerfs. :grin: He just looks so fun to play its ridiculous.
lasttyrant Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 I'm so happy right now :D It seems that Zappa has finally got the improvements I was longing for ever since I accidentally made him my main character and decided to stick to him. Still, he will have to struggle with bullshit like having virtually no wakeup move (excluding Last Edguy or backdash maybe?) or inability to deal sick damage (excluding Raoh), but now he has got a poke to be feared, which is his unsummon fS, and a new ways to mix up the opponent and summon Raoh quicker, thanks to his FB. As for his summons, while not much can be said about the Dog having only seen lots of match videos, and triplet seems to be more or less the same (with the addition of a new ghost toss which apparently makes a solid meaty attack), the sword is way better. It seems to deal more consistent damage with the new 63214H, and I just can't wait to try out the aerial special and 236S FRC. Well, and Raoh doesn't seem to be nerfed at all - more new combos instead of the old Raoh combo, sick jH properties and even better zoning thanks to the new Dark Anthems. Zappa, you've certainly come a long way. But maybe I should say that after I've actually played Ac for some time lol Oh and yeah, his sweep has now 12F startup (in / it was 13F). This is why 2D can combo after 2K now even on standing opponent.

In Guilty Gear XX, he barely had any decent combos or pressure strings to speak off. The Sword was worthless and Triplet was very limited; Dog's infinites are the only bright side of Zappa back then. Fuck, 2K into 2D is an enormous improvement, in general.

Zoogstin Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 It first premiered in Slash. But the difference between it and AC is that the FRC is sooner now so you can actually combo off of it. In slash the FRC point was too late in the attack to be worth anything besides canceling the recovery. In AC I've seen it used for ji combos and crossups.

I tried to use it as an anti-air a few times, and all of them were frustated. One good "not linked" combo (don't know if that's what you guys call a STRING) I've noticed in one of ABE's matches: ©.S, 2HS, 6P, (f).S It was a corner pression, after dog's double attack. That kind of bought time for the dog to recover and keep the pression on. Very good indeed, and I don't know if that's possible in / 'cause in AC (f).S is bigger right?

Seriously, it's difficult to use as an AA (but unbeatable if you do) but that thing will just go right through so many other good pokes that it isn't even right. And with KD on CH, you get a 2HS into orbs or big damage. Zappa's hit-box is way back at his knees, and that hand leads it by a mile. Once inv. frames kick in that thing almost always wins.

A whole Darkness Angel goes right through him!!!). :grin: My only gripe with 6P however, is that the invincibility doesn't come until a bit after the move starts. its not immediate. This sucks for when he's facing characters who have a good block string going that has frame traps in them. :blue:

Inu no TOMOI indeed!
