A Classy Gamer Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 (edited) This hasn't been announced or leaked or anything of the sort, but I was beginning to wonder: Would the anime fighter and primary FGC communities approve of such a game? Who does everyone want to develop it if it comes to fruition? Would it even sell decently? I think this could be a hit (if done right) and really help both communities. The FGC will have a bit more presence in the anime community, and the Arc Systems will be a bit more widely known throughout North America. I would much rather Arc Systems do this, but I would still be happy if Capcom did it and put in a real effort. I mean, if Capcom can do crossovers with SNK, Tekken, and Marvel, surely this kind of thing could happen, right? If you aren't sold on the idea, just imagine... -Dante ( DmC EDIT:THE OLD ONE) vs Sol Badguy -Chun-Li vs Millia Rage -Felicia vs Taokaka -Morrigan vs Ragna the Bloodedge or Rachel Alucard -Strider Hiryu vs Chipp Zanuff -Chris Redfield or pre-RE5 Jill Valentine vs Noel Vermillion -Nathan Spencer (Bionic Commando) vs Iron Tager -Mega Man X vs Robo-Ky -Sigma (Mega Man X) vs Relius Clover -M. Bison vs Justice The potential... Edited July 28, 2013 by A Classy Gamer
Hecatom Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 (edited) DmC?????? EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW, that makes the game terrible by default. Edit I also forgot, this section is for games not imaginary what ifs Edited July 28, 2013 by Hecatom
A Classy Gamer Posted July 28, 2013 Author Posted July 28, 2013 Oh the new one was DmC? I thought that was the old one. Sorry. Easy, I was just asking to see how interested people are in the concept. If there is a better thread, I don't mind moving this. Kind of an odd topic so I'm not sure exactly where it would go. Just figured Misc Fighters was okay because there was a thread for Tekken x Street Fighter that didn't get shut down.
Raptor Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Except Tekken X Street Fighter is an actual game for better or worse.
LeDom Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 I can't tell how I'd feel if a game like that was ever made. I'm not a huge fan of Capcom vs mechanics and I would rather not imagine how any GG or BB character would look like with a MVC3 artstyle... On the other hand, it could give Arc's games the little boost in popularity that they deserve.
Keo-bas Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 SO where gonna act like Sengoku Basarra Cross never happen. ( i know where talking series cross over) juts wanted to make lame pun.
Fistmaster049 Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Akuma vs Azrael needs to happen then. or Bang versus Dan
HoudiniJr100 Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 or Bang versus Dan That must happen...definitely. Also who wants simon blackquill (from phoenix wright...who I can see in a fighting game),against johnny from guilty gear?
Agni Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 I'd rather have some kind of Anime fighter maker mashup, like...Arc vs. Examu vs. Melty Bread or some shit like that.
A Classy Gamer Posted July 29, 2013 Author Posted July 29, 2013 I just remembered that Ark Sys owns Battle Fantasia. GIEF vs DONVALVE OH SHIT!
Hecatom Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 ArcSys, Arc, ASW you know, because the name is Arc System Works
White Man Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Arc vs. Examu ALL the oh hell nos. Anybody remember Sammy vs. Capcom? That was on track to be a real thing way back when. Can't say I'm too sad the deal fell through for whatever reason. ASW and Capcom have very different aesthetic styles that wouldn't necessarily mesh all that well with each other (not to mention very different core gameplay systems). To nail any kind of aesthetic consistency, you'd need to keep it franchise-specific... Like, Guilty Gear vs. Darkstalkers. That might have worked. GG and BB characters going up against Ryu and friends, though... Nah, I'm not digging the idea.

GG and BB characters going up against Ryu and friends, though... Nah, I'm not digging the idea. But SFxT is a thing, and despite the contrast between the Tekken and SF systems, it turned out all right; shady business practices aside. Even then, the "Ryu doesn't seem useful here" argument has already been overrode in the MvC series and TvC. If Ryu can seriously be put against those characters, that's hardly a reason to deny the possibility. At this point, ARC (happy, Hecatom?) Systems deserves the exposure to be alongside the likes of SF, SNK, and Tekken as a serious fighting game and not "some anime game" to the main audience for fighters. If system mechanics are an issue, they could always take a leaf from CvS2 and allow you to pick and choose system mechanics, or take the SFxT approach and integrate key features into the system. Then again, I would infinitely prefer Arc's style and take on the Capcom roster over Capcom's ideas any day.
Tigre Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 ALL the oh hell nos. Ur rite. Examu would ned to add three to four belts per character to match with Sol and Ragna. This threads pretty funny.
White Man Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 (edited) But SFxT is a thing, and despite the contrast between the Tekken and SF systems, it turned out all right; shady business practices aside. Actually, a lot of Tekken fans weren't particularly happy about the way their favorite character(s) lost more than half of their command moves. The engine makes virtually no compromise between the two systems; it's literally just SFIV with a tag mechanic and Tekken characters added in. You could theoretically get around that with a CvS2-styled customization system, but the core gameplay engines for SF and GG are so different that it would have to go way deeper than "pick whether you want air-dashing or parrying". Making a system that retained the feel of both source engines AND was balanced would be a development nightmare. They could go it (get enough talented people working on something and you can do pretty much anything) but should they do it? Like I said though, the bigger issue in my mind is the aesthetic differences. ASW character designs have such a defined, expressive style that I'd hate to see them get pulled through Capcom's "make everything goofy and generic" filter. Just look at what happened to the DS characters in Tatsunoko and Marvel 3, then remember that they were already Capcom characters to begin with. I'm not going to fault anyone for disagreeing with me on this because I know it's a really personal thing, but I just don't see the worlds of ASW coming together with the worlds of Capcom without something getting lost or changed in the process. Maybe they could make it work in a way that would surprise me; maybe the end result would be a complete disaster. Since a crossover fighter between the two companies hasn't been announced or even rumored, we'll likely never know for certain. Edited July 29, 2013 by White Man
TPPR10 Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 You know, part of me sort of wants to see Sengoku Basara X BlazBlue due of reasons. Doesn't need to be a fighting game either. Sengoku Basara-type game with BlazBLue characters is fine
Calamitus Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Only thing i want too see is BBxGG with unique mechanics. As for capcom... Throw ruby and sapphire in toilet hole and you will get Capcom x ASW.
Daverost Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Arc vs. Examu Who do I sell my soul to in order to make this happen?
caiooa Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 (edited) Personally, I'd prefer SNK vs. ASW. this. I think asw care too much about plot to make a crossover. But would love to see a old snk franchise (like garou densetsu or the last blade) having a new entry produced by asw. Or darkstallker produced by asw ? (c`mon, it`s almost what capcom fans like to call ~anime fg) Edited July 29, 2013 by caiooa
TheRealBobMan Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Everyone from SF gets negative penalty and can no longer jab-confirm > super to do damage. Dante vs Litchi goes to time out off of one combo per character.
Mightfo Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 namco vs arcsys pls(with an emphasis on soul calibur) that way we can play dressup with all the characters. tsubaki in ragna's clothes. bridget in i-no's clothes. bang in maxi's clothes. azrael in makoto's clothes. talim in bridget's clothes. venom in zalasamel's clothes. robo-ky in alisa's clothes. the awesome and hilarious possibilities are endless also i think bb/gg characters could be fit into sc5's system reasonably well.
