Yeah, I'm pretty sick of ToD combos that are common in recent fighters. I also hate the trend of auto combos and I'm disappointed that this game uses that mechanic but I hope there's more damage scaling on an auto combo to promote people for doing the combo legitimately.

People were figuring out some reset options in tandem with assists so depending on how fast paced the game is the low damage output might not be an issue. I recall someone using Shana and combo'd into Leafa assist where it kept the opponent in the air while they recovered on the ground first, then they could dash under the opponent multiple times during their air recovery for a left/right mix up.

-Did any of the play testers find any use for Celty assist? She seemed to be the worst among all of the assists. Is she active as she's driving away? I could imagine there could be some good oki with her if she was active all the way through.

She's active all the way through, and like Wilhelmina she still hits even if the player that called her gets hit or forced into block.

I don't know what you guys watched but in terms of "stiff and choppy", this game is clearly in it's early build because the sprites and moves aren't fluid much at all. They're getting there, i mean French Bread knows whats up, but saying that AquaPizza is "choppy" while this isn't is a joke.

Aqua is quite smooth and fleshed out. It IS slow because it's more a KoF/SF type game with assists than the standard anime game. While this is much more like Marvel vs Capcom 1, full on anime mode with assists.

Which is why this game should appeal more to the anime crowd lol.

I watched it all and i thought it looks like it could be cool, but definitely needs to grow more and actually finalize animations in the damn game because it looked raggedy as hell. And if this IS how it will move in final build, than they are dumb lol. Or they're not doing it purposefully because it's currently a Vita game. WHO KNOWS.

But the game didn't run as well as almost ANY current fighting game that's come out in the last 5 years.

Again early build though, i understand.

This is a French Bread game,so the first version will absolutely suck. Hopefully Dengeki cares enough about this project to fund an update.

The first game in an FG series usually has some problems, FB isn't alone in this, hell look at CT and it's hilarious tiers. Besides, seeing hilariously wacky bullshit in the first version is always fun :v:

Man, I can't wait for this game to not come to the states at all.

I'd be happy if damage and mobility stayed on the lower end.

Me too. IaMP is one of my favorite fighters because of the low damage contributing to long and intense matches. They could go on for up to 8 minutes and it was so awesome. A lot of FGs these days have such high damage that even high-level competitive matches end in like 2-4 minutes. Sometimes you want to see an "enduro", so to speak.

Seeing the definitely-from-valkyria-chronicles stage definitely gets my hopes up for what the final roster might look like.

I actually took the time to think about all the licensing companies that would have to be dealt with to get this game over here (even if they own only minor licensing rights, they're gonna cockblock any hopeful localizers):

Yen Press (Oreimo manga, SAO novels, Accel World Novels)

Funimation (Raildex, Shana, Accel World anime)

Aniplex USA (Durarara!!, Oreimo anime, SAO)

This is just from the characters in the loketest. Dealing with all the red tape the final roster would entail would be...just way too much trouble.

Well, let's hope for the best anyway.

Well this was a Locktest. You can't expect people to up with fancy complex stuff right off the bat. Plus, this game is still in its production phase so there's still some time for new ways to create combo opportunities and other tools to implement the assist and combat system.

I wonder how they're going to go about character balancing and reveals as the production progresses. We have 6 characters and in the assist box we see many empty slots hinting of a cast of playable characters alongside more assists to boot.

Look out on the following YT Channels for uploads from the loketest ~!

I uploaded a small batch of individual matches already (I have 33 total recorded), Abelcru I think has the whole loketest recorded if you want to sit down one night and watch it all (which is currently being uploaded)

It's already guaranteed, but they're still silent on the exact platform (it's probably PS3, but still).

Awesome. I just hope that they add some of my favourite characters (come on kanade)

Well, there's always importing at any rate.

Accel World anime is Viz, not FUNi.

Damn, got that one wrong.

But hey, that's another company to deal with.

Martian Buddy: Yeah, looks like this is gonna be an import.

I'm not understanding what the lightning blots at the bottom are used for?

They're used for each character's guard point reversal (Trump Card, I think?) as well as RCing stuff.

You've got that wrong. The lightning icons are spent on Trump Cards, yes, but they can serve many different purposes (turn on modes for Shana and KYH, perform a throw with Kirino, etc.). Guard point reversals are called Impact Skills and cost nothing (maybe some health turns grey, P4U-style? At least that's the case for catch reversals). As for the RCs, the game doesn't have a proper mechanic similar to that, but it has Support cancels (summon a Support mid-combo for 1 gauge), Combo Blasts (One More Burst from P4U) and maybe some of the Trump Cards (Shana's, I suppose?).

Y'know, if there'll be rival characters, I'm hoping Izaya would make it so that he'll have an attack where he stomps on opponents like Hazama/Terumi, like he does with cellphones

Accelerator with Last Order support would be cool, too

Umm, can someone explain to me how the armor property works in this game...

At first I thought it was like SF4 and P4U with just 1 attack having armor properties, but I've seen multiple characters apply it to at least 2 moves (Lightning girl did it on nearly all of her moves...) and I don't see any resource aside from life (which can be recovered if you don't get hit anyways) being consumed.

Well, Misaka is only supposed to have super-armor on her asphalt sword move and the ground lightning stomp. Having the exact video with a timestamp would help figuring out the case.

Someone on 2ch finally asked about Shana's Trump Card, and it apparently increases the untechable time of her attacks. That sounds plenty strong alright.
