Well, they involve the same developers, and they're not exactly huge, so it's probable that they would be moving staff from one game to the other. Although considering they recently released a trailer, they seem to at least still be working on Late somewhat.

you know...they are doing sprite work, not code work for dfc. Even the stages, gauges and hit effects don't looks like anything from frenchbread. It's by the guys of Valkyria Chronicles. Port=code work, not sprite work.

I wouldn't be surprised if the staff of FB is not the only one behind the game, for all what we know they could be working only as consultants and sprite work, who knows, maybe a 3rd party is behind the work on the game using FB's engine.

Besides, if this game is actually running on UNIB's engine, doing new characters shouldn't be that difficult unless it involves making new mechanics for them, so in the case that they are working on both games, it shouldn't take all of their resources imo.

I don't think it was ever specified what variety of development they were doing: They were just provided the title "developer", which I would say indicates development in general, not just a specific portion. That, and apparently people were taking Melty - ish impressions from loketests, so that would be expected if they did indeed have influence in gameplay.

Also, seeing as this is backed by two major companies, I would agree it wouldn't be surprising if third parties had some part in the process.

The producer for the game is Ryutaro Nonaka and the director is Takaharu Terada (valkyria chronicles). The stages make it obviously not by french bread alone too. Plus, the mechanics looks like nothing from mbaacc, nor mbac...don't know what you are talking about.

I didn't say the mechanics are similar to Melty: Just that people who have visited the loketests have reported the game somewhat playing like it (I remember Xie describing it as seeming somewhat of a mix between Aquapazza and MB). They could change that statement later in the game's life, but that's what they're saying now. To be honest, if we're going to make a connection to Bread through the systems, we could sort of make comparisons to their various titles being influenced noticeably from differing ArcSys games (Guilty for Melty, BB for In Birth, P4A for DFC).

Also, disregarding that I'm not entirely sure why the stages exempt French Bread's involvement beyond sprite work (if you mean the Valkyria stage, that would be because the game itself is published by Sega, making sense for FB to have licence for it's use), if French Bread aren't doing the development work, who are? You could say Sega, but considering that French Bread have far more experience in 2D fighting games, I doubt they didn't at least have some influence on gameplay decisions. And if it was mainly created through an unrevealed party, why haven't they been announced yet? And, furthermore, if Sega already have FB's involvement, unless they have ArcSys developing (really unlikely), why would they give the game to somebody else when French Bread, as aforementioned, are probably the most experienced people they have in the field?

This page was made I think before the game's announcement. If so, it's probably simply concerning the anniversary in general, rather than DFC particularly.

welp that killed my hype. But still, looks like they have they might have the licences for some of them (i hope).

French bread probably do have license for all of them: The game has essentially been commisioned by Dengeki, so I would think they'd be legally free to include any of them (although there are probably executive pressures dissuading them from including less popular/otherwise significant titles).

The guy running it just made a'>https://twitter.com/FIGHTING_CLIMAX]a group of tweets on the game's account detailing various statistics from the loketests. I'm guessing able people will translate it later if they want to, but for now, here would be what I can gleam from my Google Translate adventures.

Character Usage (not sure if they actually based this on every use of each Character in the loketest, or just responses from people when inquired as to who they used the most):

Shana: 13% .

Asuna: 21% .

Misaka: 19% .

Shizuo: 17% .

Kirino: 15% .

Kuroyuki: 15%.

Support Usage:

Wilhelmina: 6% (really? I thought she was used more than that. Might be inaccuracy on GT's or the account's part. The percentages result in 100, though).

Touma: 30% .

Kuroneko: 25% .

Leafia: 18% .

Celty: 15% .

Haruyuki: 6% .

There's something about a review of the mechanics, but I'm not entirely sure what they were targeting, so I'm not going to say anything about that.

Input difficulty reception:

Too hard: 7%.

Hard: 16%.

Too easy: 32%.

Easy: 43%.

Regular: 2%.

Man, no offense, but JUST new assist? I mean, I figured that was how they were going to muscle in most of the characters and references but come on . . . .v.

also STILL no Strawberry Panic rep!? ; w;

So, so, Holo is a healing support, huh? If Carmine from Under Night was in this game, him and Holo would've made an unstoppable team lol

Still holding out on playable characters though. Hoping there'll be at least one announce sooner or later. Where the hell's Kino :V

Maou, Support-only? The hell. I sure hope that doesn't mean we get Emi as a playable character in his stead, since that'd be redundant. Then again, if they manage to make her feel different enough from Asuna, I could deal with it, but I just don't see how exactly can that be done.

Anyways, the effects:

Korbo: creates a patch of wheat that heals you when you stand near it.

Boogie: lands a guaranteed attack that lands anywhere. Takes a while to come out, so you have to protect him.

Maou: rushes forward and lands a punch. The damage is low, but it seems like you can awaken his demonic powers when certain conditions are met?..

You know, I haven't been actively following this game, but, seriously? Maou as a Support only character? This doesn't make sense. Why is the main character an assist? Does that mean Emi, who is a lot like Asuna, is coming? Or will the series get no playable character? Either option sucks hard.

EDIT: Also, why is his assist a low-power punch? Surely it should be something involving katsudon, the anti-gravity thing from the bridge, or something. Hoping someone besides Emi gets playable.

I'm currently crossing my fingers for playable Suzuno, simply because Emi is already in and Chi-chan can't fight. Also, hammer characters are awesome.
