EmptySkyForm Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Just curious, play style wise who is most like Millia rage from guilty gear? I really like her style after some practice and want to know who is similar to her in BB.
NecroTheReaper Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Hmm... I don't have much experience with Millia, but I want to say Litchi, since they're all about the oki. But like I said, dont have much experience with Millia.
vXv RUSH vXv Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Litchi, definitely. I always saw the similarities. She even has a millia color. So does platinum which also (melee wise) kinda feels like millia
Dreiko Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 I think Bang's nails feel a lot like the pin but nobody really has that deadly oki since nobody really has something as good as her force break blade or something as fast as her overheads. Litchi can do a little damage off of much much easier to see and react to overheads and can use much much less good oki things. I guess, it's like this. Rachel's overheads are most like Millia's, Bang's neutral and mobility and air options are most like Millia's, Litchi's oki options are most like Millia's, Carl's HP and defensive options is most like Millia's. You kinda have to pick which one of the above you like the most and go for it lol.
NecroTheReaper Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 I wouldn't advise using carl though if you want Millia. He's the Eddy of the game and Rachel is a zoner xD. You won't find an exact copy, so its mostly just find what you feel good with in "this" game.

Hehe, that would be if somebody would actually WANT to play somebody with no life and no defense options outside of a crappy command roll. I was mostly listing him as a joke.

I really like her style after some practice and want to know who is similar to her in BB. If you mean heavy rush down and almost impossible mixup and oki game. Then Valkenhayn.
Ronove Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 There's really no character that plays like Millia in BB. If you're looking for that type of oki you'll hardly find anything close to that, as BB has a different type of ukemi compared to GG. But if you're looking for mobility and mixups, then go for Valk. Though it won't play like Millia does.
White Man Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 I think one problem with the "Who should I play?" question when it concerns character comparisons is the fact that you're essentially asking people to equate apples to oranges. What BlazBlue character plays like Millia? None of them, honestly, since ASW doesn't design their characters based off of prefab templates. Every character requires a unique approach to use effectively. And even if you point to some BB characters who use similar gameplay mechanics as Millia, you're not going to get a really familiar experience since A) each character is defined by the whole of the tools they have available and B) BB itself has a different gameplay engine than GG. Even if they had a character from GG make a cameo appearance in BB, they wouldn't play exactly the same because the game's speed, gravity, meter system, and combo timing are all different, among other things. Now, if someone is simply asking who's the grappler or who has the best keep-away game, that's a little easier (though the answer will still be open to debate in a game like this). As soon as you begin drawing comparisons to other characters in other fighters, however, you're asking a question that can't be easily answered most of the time.
EmptySkyForm Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 I'd have to differ on that. Target and potempkin, ragna and sol, Ky and Jin, Eddie and Carl. There are some characters who are the same (if not have a lot in common), ark sys does have templates that it uses for characters. Millia however falls outside of that area, given her set. I'd have to say she is similar to Litchi or Valkenhayn, possibly platinum.
Eshi Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 When I think of Millia, I think of her multiple air options, her godlike okizeme, and her pin that helps her get in. IMO Rachel plays the most like this - Wind meter gives her fantastic air options and instant overheads, pumpkin works like pin to help her get in, frog works like discs to lock them down for ridiculous oki. Rachel can also zone though, which is cool.
RifleAvenger Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 (edited) I'd have to differ on that. Target and potempkin, ragna and sol, Ky and Jin, Eddie and Carl. I'd have to say she is similar to Litchi or Valkenhayn, possibly platinum. Jin and Ky do not have the same playstyle. Ky uses meter to gain or maintain momentum (Stun Edge FRC, dash in as they block), whereas Jin's EX moves are largely combo extenders and a DP. Ky sets up positioning and sparks to put the foe in a situation where Ky's options are better than theirs, and then waits for them to hang themselves. Jin uses a lot of gimmicks and tricks to open up the opponent. Ky's projectiles are essential to his neutral, oki, and even combos, whereas Jin's projectiles play a much smaller role. Even though they're both Shotoesque-swordsmen, have great pokes, and a lackluster high-low game, they feel significantly different. The other pairs you listed all have similar differences. When I think of Millia, I think of her multiple air options, her godlike okizeme, and her pin that helps her get in. Rachel can also zone though, which is cool. I'd agree with Eshi's assessment. However, remember that Rachel is limited by her wind gauge, which is a big change from Millia. On the other hand, her zoning tools give her more ways to get faraway opponents to sit down and block, so that you can get an in. Edited October 23, 2013 by RifleAvenger
Dandy J Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Like everyone has said, you're not going to get the spiritual successor to Millia. You are going to have to pick and choose the things that you like about Millia if you want to go that route. Valk and Taokaka have the mobility and mixup game, but they lack the 'put stuff on the opponent for oki' aspect. Rachel has that, but she's a floaty zoning character (though wind makes her move completely different and her mixups ARE fast). Like was mentioned before, Bangs nails are the only thing close to the pin. Litchi has mixups but they aren't Millia-esqe and she doesn't gain a whole super everytime she combos you anymore to make you block the super afterwards lol. She also doesn't have the crazy movement. Personally I'd try Taokaka first, then the other characters mentioned in whatever order.
Kane Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 I'm a Millia player and I gravitated towards Rachel back in CT. Now though, I'd say Relius is quite good for rushdown/oki set-ups, much like Millia.
NecroTheReaper Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Being a Relius main, he does have intense pressure and good oki, but his mixup (from what I hear about Millia) is fairly easy to follow. His standing overhead is slow and unsafe, and his puppet mixup moves are only good for setting up oki once or twice. He's also limited by his doll meter. He does have decent jump in options though, and is fairly easy to learn. Not many defensive options though but a good amount of hp.
