What is Potemkin's worst match up? I feel like it's Sol. Great and terrible Sol players alike just completely destroy me. :/ 

I do alright against Sol. Sin and Axl seem really hard for me.

Sin wrecks my anus, but thats just because I'm awful at blocking overheads.

Overall, I'd say Millia or I-no. Their mixup too good, mayne.

Maybe I haven't played a good enough I-No or Sin player. Millia I agree with...I have played a few demolishers whom once I got knocked down made sure I never got a chance to do anything again.

I could say Elph is hard...but really the whole cast has a hard time dealing with her due to how strong she is.

Ram? No way. If you know how to block the over head string then a good chunk of her stuff is just hammerable through. Makes the neutral game in favor of Potemkin imo.

So here's a quick question, I was watching some FAB footage and he used this string(2P>2S>6K) a lot but I'm not entirely sure what purpose it serves. It doesn't combo on hit, so if for w/e reason the 2p hits the rest doesn't combo. I guess my question is why should I use that string? Is the 2P>2S like a frame trap?

frame trap. If you try to jump after 2P you get hit with 2S. FAB loves it because if you get 2S air hit into 6K, you can cancel hammerfall with RC  into 6K loops as long as you're near the corner.

actually you don't need to RC the hammer if you're already in or near the corner, the 6K itself push opponent to the corner for you. RC is only needed if you're too far

Oh didn't know that. Thanks. I've made a habit of using RC to get loops. Should of spent a bit more time in the lab.

 

As for Trishula's buffs, its limited because it requires you to hit ICPM, but I like it because the flame pillar covers potemkin's body completely. Its great for covering his normals plus dust.

 

Mixup you can't see? Fuck that.

Well that is your personal experience, you just haven't fought a decent Ramlethal yet. Most of them will just [set-up swords -> jump-in -> spam the same string into overhead], [drop every combo] or just [f.S -> dauro]. However Ram has all the tools to completely shut down Pot, just like I-no. Try watching some high level footage and you'll see how sad it can be for our big guy.

It's defn not Sol, that matchup can be technical but it's not bad imo.

 

Bad matchups would be ones that control spacing and neutral well, and have effective lockdown and mobility.

 

So, if Zato doesn't come to mind, you're doing it wrong Dx

I played a good Axl today. I finally hit 15 on ranked, and so now the "killers" come out to play. A level 17 Axl is no joke...

That match up is just rough all around. Is it supposed to be a 5-5 match up? It feels like 7-3 in Axl's favor. Is there any good Fab videos versus great Axl players? I'd like to see what he does.

I feel bad matchups for Pot are Elphelt, and May. I swear, when May's ball is thrown, you have to watch carefully. Can you even reflect it?

I feel like Axl is definitely doable, you just have to use every single tool Pot has. 6P, Megafist Fwd and Bk, Slide, Hammer break, Hammer YRC, ICPM YRC, all the usual pokes, etc. Well, at least, it doesn't seem to be anywhere near as bad as some other matchups

 

Zato and I-no are far more frustration inducing in my experience

Hey, so I need some help with my pressure. I've gotten the safe jump j.S down, so I blow up reversals and bursts, but once they block the j.S I usually just fall apart. The only real mix-up I have off a blocked j.S is 2.p, 2.k, hammerfall break, buster, and that's not even consistent since they're out of range of the buster more often than not. I'm just looking for strings that are hit confirmable into 2.d, but on block can be chained into something that'll keep the pressure on.

you can practice using HFB to close the distance and still maintain advantage. Things like 2S>HFB(+0 on normal block), 6K>HFB(+2 on normal block) is what you want to do. In corner when you've conditioned them to jump after a delay 2P, you can even get a full combo from 2S>6K>HFB, and it will make your opponent scare of jumping. Pot doesn't have a reliable overhead now, so the only mix-up you can take advantage is PB/low. At first, make your opponent respect your pressure, then you can sneak in some PB or 5D.
Personally, i usually use 2P>2S>6K>HFB, 2P>2P>6K<HFB, 2S>6K>HFB

- c.S: hitbox increased
- 5HS: damage increased from 50 to 55
- 6P: damage increased from 35 to 42
- Pot Buster: damage increased from 140 to 150; can only yrc on startup frames now
- Trishula: untech frames increased on hit; the direction opponent gets blown to has been changed upwards
- Trishula: ch hit has same property as normal hit now (gets blown in the same direction)
- Heavenly Pot Buster: nerf reverted (what nerf? xd *me*)

The HPB nerf was they reduced the invuln on it.

Losing PB YRC OS is a preeeeeeetty big loss, but everyone else lost this ability too. I think I'm OKAY with this overall, it was kinda dumb to begin with.

c.S hitbox buff is a very nice improvement if it's significant. Potemkin had a serious problem where there were ranges where c.S would still come out but not connect, especially in AA combos.

Is it good practice to use 6K in all of Pot's blockstrings? I've been practicing 2P>2k>2S>HFB into 2P>2S>HFB and breaking late to get back in. Trying to get a charge of 6K online is rrrrooouuugh.

 

EDIT: Some weird shit I've noticed is that if you try to HF Sol's Fafnir, he can YRC on hit through the armor. Is this well known or am I slowpokin it super hard here?

besides blocking all his block strings and what not, its almost you cant throw anything out hence all potemkins very slow normals besides 5P, 8P.

many patience is needed.

 

i'd say this match up is the hardest, or one of, to overcome.

it's actually a good matchup for us. it's worse than before but still a good matchup. just remember the burden is on him, not on you.
