NecroTheReaper Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 What are bedman's obvious weakness/struggles besides getting room to set up?
Poultrygeist Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 His mobility is IMO pretty lousy. He also lacks a meterless reversal but so do some of the best chars in this game.
madworlder Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 What are bedman's obvious weakness/struggles besides getting room to set up? His size and mobility are the two biggest issues he has. He also does not function well in midrange, if he can't confirm into 2D with 2K or c.5S, he's in for tough times.
NecroTheReaper Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Not having a reversal I'm use to by this point. Honestly the transitioning from offense/neutral/defense seems a lot faster in this game in general (comparing to BB) so that's something I'm not use to. Can Bedman keep someone locked down outside of getting a DV placed in the corner?
madworlder Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 You always need at least one DV to keep someone locked down, but you don't need the corner. The teleport from A' is +9, you can use it to cancel unsafe moves and reset pressure assuming you are able to use it from a Deja Vu point. Deja Vu Task B is also able to reset pressure, and if it's behind your opponent, it will push them towards you on block. Task C Deja Vu is strong for space control and mixup, but not so much for pressure. I haven't found a great use for Task A Deja Vu, but it's probably better than a regular Task A.
NecroTheReaper Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Finally started playing online... how do you neutral game? I see all this task A' stuff, but its way too slpw to use in neutral, do I need more air task C?
Poultrygeist Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Sounds like you're not making good use of your air movement.
NecroTheReaper Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 I was... but I ended up jumping over people and wiffing. This made me get hjt right after I land (i know I can FD, but this will just get me killed if I do it more lol)
Tiamat Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Finally started playing online... how do you neutral game? I see all this task A' stuff, but its way too slpw to use in neutral, do I need more air task C? It sounds like you're too focused on the specials. You can generally spam Task A pretty liberally during neutral, though they can potentially go over it if you're careless/predictable with it. Other than that you should get used to the range on your normal attacks like f.S, 2K, 2S/2D, j.P, j.S cause these are good during poking. Use j.S in the air if you're kinda far and use j.P if you're closer. 886 j.S covers a lot of distance.
madworlder Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 A' is your way in, but in order to get the time to throw it, you either have to be in the air where they can't get to you, or you have to have B or C Deja Vu out to control some additional space. Throw Task A and whiff B or C to get the Deja Vu, then use Task A' while DVC or DVB is active. This is a general idea and changes a lot based on the matchup. I wouldn't throw A' against Potemkin at all since Hammerfall is hell. I-no and Millia will probably come to you before you can A' to them. Try a lot of things out and find out what works for you.
Poultrygeist Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Is there any reliable use for Hemi Jack? At all? All I can think of is throwing it out while you have DV Task B onscreen and using it to press them into the sheep. I really love this stupid move but I dunno if it's all that practical.
NecroTheReaper Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 I've seen it mostly YRC'd while under pressure, but typically when it was used the opponent had plenty of meter for... whatever the counter assault equivalent is in GG, or to RC some "get me out" button. Is Task C considered airborn from frame 1?
D.R.F. Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 It says that task C is airborne at the 9nth frame. Also the word you are looking for is dead angle attack, or DAA.
NecroTheReaper Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Man, I was hoping it could be used to call out grabs... oh well. Does the j.K>j.P gatling serve any purpose other than hitting crouching Millia? Edit: how do you confirm a long range f.S non CH? Just take the time to set up or is there somethin I can cobfirm into that isnt death?
Poultrygeist Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 You can do f.S 2S. It's not great but it works. If they gave Bedman f.S gatling to 2D in the next game...sweet baby Jesus I would give Ishiwatari my firstborn child. So what's a good CH confirm for punishing things like Sol fafnir? Basically I'm asking what would be good for situations like the one seen in the Fighting Sol part 2 mission. I had a set with a Sol today and IDK what to do other than standard 5K 5HS 2D stuff. On an unrelated note it's nice to see you around Necro, I think you and I are just destined to play the same characters no matter what.
NecroTheReaper Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Dude, hes wearing fking purple and knows everything. xD Does Bedman get anything good off CH? I figured if you were close enough for 5HS vacuum, goin (c.S)>5HS>1HS would wreck his health
Tiamat Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 I don't know about what to beat Fafnir with specifically but I do have something to say about CH f.S. Earlier in the thread I said it only goes to 2S or you can go to 236S on CH but you can actually do something else. You can do CH f.S > 2H and it works from max range hit (where even 2S will whiff as a followup). Also works on crouch hit. If you do it too close the 2H can whiff so make sure you're spaced at max range if you try this. If you want to convert more damage and a knockdown off that you can do CH f.S > 2H > RC > walk 6H 236H You can replace the 6H with 6P/5H(1)/c.S for less damage but timing is easier I think. I don't know if this combo is character specific but I assume it is fairly stable.
NecroTheReaper Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 On a successful GP, does Bedman's dash have punishable recovery?
madworlder Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Depends on what you guarded with it. Guard pointing a fullscreen stunedge from Ky can get you hit, for example.
GcYoshi13 Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 On a successful GP, does Bedman's dash have punishable recovery? I think you're always capable of blocking after the dash. I tested this with Millia's c.L rapid fire. Bedman could 100% throw her or block. I also tested this with Ram's boomerang overdrive thing. I could teleport to the other side and block still.
Poultrygeist Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 The timing to follow up with a normal on corner throw is eating me alive lol. I end up just going for Task B instead. Anyone know what a good indicator to follow up in time is?
Sanger Zonvolt Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Where are all the Bedman combos guys? Step up Bedpai.
NecroTheReaper Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Honestly, this is a character I'm less worried about combos on and more concerned with mixups. He can easily take half your bar from a c.S confirm, or a f.S confirm with a RRC, but the combo paths are all very simple for the damage. Honestly, while they look awesome, I've almost ignored float loops.
Poultrygeist Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Where are all the Bedman combos guys? Step up Bedpai. Here are my preferred routes, correct me if necessary. 5K/2K 5HS 2D Task B 5K/2K 5HS 2D/1D (depending on spacing) Task C 5D 8 j.5D j.5D j.5S 9 air movement j.5S Task B (maybe can do Task C for DV seal) Anti air 6P c.S Task C Corner throw c.S 5HS Task C Corner 5D slight delay 6HS Task A' 5K/2K 5HS 2D Task B
NecroTheReaper Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 I think you mean 1/2HS on that second one lol. A simple throw corner combo I used that gets good damage was Throw>5K>f.S>j.S>3j.S>c.S>236C Also, anyone know you can combo from 5HS>j.D IOH crossup with an RC?
