Don't worry about it too much, Wild Candy. Haven't been playing P4A much myself lately, with college commitments and BBCP finally coming out, but it's just something to do for fun anyway. Nice to have another Naoto/Dizzy/future Valentine player on board though!

On Flux. And I want both sides to read this. It might not be much but I want to close the gap a bit.

About Flux doing IK. His intents were nothing more than to want to hit it. Maybe he enjoys IK. We would probably enjoy our IKs too. I'm Naoto. If I hit IK in tournament, I would dance all across the rooftops of the world. That would be awesome! It wasn't intended as anything else but the fun. That's innocent enough.

Flux, though, I'm going to word this to be honest and calm-toned, so please try to understand it without commentary yelling its head off. When you do something like that, it "suggests" either one of two sides of things, even if you didn't mean it to suggest a thing. It either A) suggests you think the opponent isn't good enough to deal with it and that you'll just get it, or that you're just going to catch something and take the whole game off that (moreso in the case of other IKs like Mitsuru, Yosuke, Yukiko IKs). Or it suggests B) that you care so little about your opponent and the outcome of the match that you're willing to risk throwing away the entire round and potentially the entire set, by using that 100 SP pointlessly and wastefully.

It's a lot more about B). What does your opponent feel when you suddenly throw all the dice on the table for fun when you're already up by a huge lead? "Oh I'm winning by a ton, this is definitely in my favor, so I'm going to risk all my resources and play with my food now, here we go." A lot of us in the netplay tournaments, and I know this includes you, because you said so, can only play in the netplay tournaments, and we're trying our damnedest to perform well. Some of us struggle a lot more than others. Some of us aren't very good at all and try to seize everything we can. So we take all the matches very seriously. I'm not talking about gritty grumpy "GRR GOTTA WIN GRRRRRRR" seriously, but you know. We treat it like real. Our tournament life is on the line. That's important!

As someone else said, if it was a real life tournament at a major, you (probably?) wouldn't do that. Maybe you would. Banana Ken did it and he was making a statement, or maybe he just wanted to have fun too, and it was hype, but it was also against LK, where statements mean a lot more and the player is very good. In a sense, it's fine if you don't take these netplay tournaments seriously, but a lot of us do, and they're important to us as our only outlet for improving, and when you start going so thoughtlessly ham that you do that sort of IK, it can bother people in a lot of ways. Something that definitely has a very high chance of not succeeding, and you just do it just because you're willing to risk the actual lead that you gained for yourself by playing.

I hope you can understand how I mean it. And I hope you know that I and the rest of us understand it that you just flatly wanted to do it for your own reasons. I just want you to see what sort of effects or implications it can have, even though you don't mean them. And frankly, it would be a lot worse if you DID actively mean it to step on people and disrespect them, but I know that's not what you want. And the guys on commentary are loud and easily prone to loudness and opinions. Their sentiment isn't wrong, and they go in really hard on this stuff, which I think goes a bit too far, but I'm also not going to say they shouldn't have said what they said. And as they definitely said, nobody has anything personal against you. You as a person, we're all good. It's just that sort of play that gets on peoples' nerves. I don't think anybody hates anybody here.

That's all :c I hope that this helped somewhat. (Feel free to rip on me if this is all dumb. I have to try sometime, though.)

First of all, I have to address something I think a lot of people fail to understand: Shadow Labrys' IK is more useful than ANY other character's, and you can ask any better Shadow Labrys player and they'll confirm that. The fact is, in my case, however, I am nowhere near able to consistently pull it off. Why I did it, though, are the following reasons: I was afraid of my opponent's potential comeback—which can always happen—, they lacked a Burst and I had 100 SP as well as my Burst. That means that the chance of me being able to connect it somehow and pull it off, although slim, was there, so I took the chance. I can GUARANTEE you that when BK used the IK in his match against LK, it wasn't to be stylish or to make a statement, but to be efficient. You can ask him about it.

What I do online is what I would do in a local tournament because that's how I play. I don't have any "alternative" means of playing the game for online or local play, I just have the way I always play at my disposal. If you haven't noticed, "thoughtlessly ham" is EXACTLY how I've always played because that's the only way I learned how, so this isn't some kind of exception to an inexistent rule. I wasn't willing to "throw away the lead I had gotten", I was willing to win. I'm always willing to win, and that never changes. Netplay tournaments are very important to me, because that's the only way I can compete at some level against skilled players consistently. They're also usually fun (outside of Dustloop, for the most part).

The thing is, since I've started playing here, most people have found it appropriate to insult me and disrespect me. And they DO insult me, unlike you're trying to suggest, either because of my character, because "I play wrong", because "I'm disrespectful", because "I'm too netplay" or whatever else they can conjure up to make fun of me. I've never said anything to anyone else and I've always been passive about it, but I'm not going to tolerate it anymore. Everything I've ever done in these tournaments has been laughed at, so I'm not going to take your word that people don't have something against me, for whatever reason.

No one had EVER told me about how much it seemed disrespectful to IK before. I've always tried it, especially with Shadow Labrys, to try to win. It's obnoxious having commentators constantly insult my play and the chat going along with what they say. It's annoying that I have to deal with that each and every time I participate, even though I have never made fun of anyone else, and I'm never even told any way I can improve or change things in a way that other people will appreciate it more.

I think I was banned from future tournaments because my IK was too disrespectful or something? At this point, I really don't care because participating in these has added a level of stress from elitism or snobbery towards me and they've stopped being fun a long while ago, which is why I decided to skip a few recent ones. I've always tried to go along with the rules, but people still find reason to hate me for it, and that's fine.

This is locked because I'm not going to have this giant back and forth here. Whatever happened, settle it somewhere else.
