stickystaines Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 So I'm learning Eltnum, and I had a few questions. for 5A 2C 5[C] 412B 6 I've found that I will end up on the other side of the dummy if I start with 5A point blank. if I space myself out a bit I can land the 6 without any real errors. Is there a timing issue I'm having, or is this a legitimate spacing issue? Secondly after this (same combo) there is a j.[C] followed by 66C, I can get the j.[C] to land fairly consistantly but for the life of me cannot land the 66C. Am I looking for a specific time for the falling j.[C]? it appears I either hit it at one specific point or I don't... That first problem only occurs on Hyde, Linne and Hilda, i assume your training dummy is Linne since she's P2 default. Against them you want to go 421B j.BC route. I don't do the falling j.[C] route so i cant answer that, sorry.
Tigre Posted July 28, 2014 Author Posted July 28, 2014 Hmm, so it's character specific? I guess I just need to space it against them. Linne was my training dummy, but not because she was default I hit random and that's who I got lol

For them I would recommend 421B > whiff 5A > 66C gunshot loop. You could also go for the 421B > J.BC > 66C route I think. EDIT: Lol I got sniped. Sent from my BlackBerry 9780 using Tapatalk

Linne was my training dummy, but not because she was default I hit random and that's who I got lol Against Linne, Hyde and Hilda instead of 421B 6 you do 421B j.B j.C d.C so you don't have to worry about spacing out max range 5A. I don't really like j.[C] after 6 it doesn't add much damage and it it's way less consistent. I've seen Senaru drop it more than he's hit it in match.

I've been combing through match videos and I don't see it used much. A easier/beginner one to learn first would be after 6 you can do 22B>DC>(if you have 5 or more bullets, 22B>DC>)22C
HiguraShiki Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Hey guys, new Eltnum player. I wanna learn this character well aside from being a Tsukihime/Melty Blood fan, mostly because I need a better character than Akatsuki. I am having a bit of a problem opening up people who block though. After I end a blockstring, I am not sure how to continue pressure or at least put myself in a safe position. On the occasion I do land my overhead 6B, I can't find a followup to it. Also, some of the combo's I can't seem to connect when I use 5A, 2B, 5B as starter strings. If I do the J[C] route, I end up landing 5B but whiffing the 5[C]. Also, when I do 5A, 2C, 5[C], 421B, 6 I tend to go right under the person unless I landed 5A from a further range.
Pepperyucky Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Just curious about how other players are executing something. During the usual combo, after 6, how do you guys input the 2C(1)>22B? Do you 2C(1)>2B or just 2C(1)>22BB really quickly?
Stafy Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Press down again while you're pressing 2C, then press B. You'll get it consistently on the first hit of 2C if you do it this way. It's pretty much 2C2B.
Wokker Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Dunno if this is already known, but if you got 5 enhanced bullets and do 22B raw, the 5th bullet crumbles and allows you to combo with 2C.

Tsubaki 5B Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 forgive me but i just got the game today and i've been doing pretty well with the combos but what does d.C mean lol is ot a cancel or something also i'd like to join the skype group too

Tigre Posted July 29, 2014 Author Posted July 29, 2014 Yeah, if we could please use a standardized notation for dash normals it'd make everything easier. I opt for 66X because there's no mistaking it if you know "anime fg notation".Gonna grind out more combos tomorrow zzz
Errol Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I don't agree. if you don't know what DC means you should learn it. 66C could be easily misconstrued as 66 5C. with notation you don't understand, you don't understand it.
Tigre Posted July 29, 2014 Author Posted July 29, 2014 No if it's 66 5C it'll be written out 66 5C.I could say the same thing for my notation, if you don't undersatnd 66C you should learn it. See how that argument doesn't really work too well? We're talking about a normal move which requires inputting 66 and then hitting the C button. There's really not much to confuse unless we're splitting hairs for no reason. It's actually the most direct way to refer to the move.<edit>DC also looks like it's some universal move like Force Function or Smart Stir. It makes no logical sense to notate a normal in an arbitrary way when the rest of the normals are notated with whatever direction or motion is used to activate said move. 5C is 5C, even with specials like Reload is 22C no one confuses that either. When we start to mix in weird notation that doesn't match the rest of the format we start to get shit like reading a JP wiki where they use nicknames for moves and it becomes a massive pain in the ass to read.

Do you 2C(1)>2B or just 2C(1)>22BB really quickly? Basically you wanna wait for them to just hit the ground then land 2c(1), 22b
Sashi Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Definitely agree with 66C over d.C. It's a lot more readable. The less game specific notation, the better. As for 2C 22B, I input it as 2C2B.
Shado_Onikkisu Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Does anybody have a frame data sheet on Eltnum yet?

Chumaralupa Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 If you want to consistently hit 2A combos on Hyde/Hilda/Lynn, just do 2A>2A>2C etc. Sure you lose some damage, but you'll get the full combo into 6 no matter how close you are to them. 2A>2B>2C does not push them back far enough at point blank range....... probably because the 2B moves you forward.
Dabluprint4 Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Hey guys. I just got my game yesterday. And eltnum is pretty damn awesome. Is there anyone here that would be my training partner? I want to learn everything about this character starting with the basic combos and mixups...
Wokker Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Some simple combos that I like to use and still does pretty good damage. 5A>5B>2C>5[C]>421B>6>22B>66C>22B>66C>Reload 2705 dmg 5B>2C>5[C]>421B>6>22B>66C>22B>66C>Reload 2945 dmg j.214B>CS>5B>5[C]>421B>6>j.B>j.C>Air throw 2409 dmg Corner only 3C>8>J[C]>8>j.[C]>5B>5[C]>421B>6>22B>66C>22B>66C>Reload 3185 dmg Corner only 3C>8>J[C]>8>j.[C]>5B>5[C]>421B>6>22B>66C>623C 3803 dmg Edit: I tested these on Hyde, and I made sure that I wrote down the "basic damage" value.
