Prophet Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Wait. Where's the IAD> J.2C...? How much more range does Carl have from using his Kara throw? Anyone know? I don't think it's the range so much that is increased but rather the speed and downward trajectory, which make it very hard to AA. Correct me if I'm wrong though, I'm just a Carl sprout. edit: Oh you were just talking about the ground throw, whoops
Zoogstin Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Mmmk. So if i want to set up for the clap trap I have to do 2A, 2B, 3C airdash, summon kara throw(j2 C~B) then alle can. I can't do all that at the same time. LOL First of all take a look at the combos that are posted in the 101 thread. j2C~B is not in any of them. There is no need to ever use that in a combo. Don't confuse yourself. You use air dash j2C~B when you want to get in on your opponent but you want to trick them into blocking high but since you fall really fast you can catch them with a low attack instead. j2C~B has nothing to do with allecan. I was just answering your question as to why carl dropped so fast in the video you posted. To answer your question Mika Carl's Kara throw (I'm talking about his ground kara throw) supposedly gives him the greatest throw range in the game. I don't use it often though.

Zoogstin Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 Because that's a lie, and it's really garbage. And there you have it.
Mikachiru Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 I meant the air kara throw...The only one I know of. Does his air kara throw come out faster than some attacks that you would usually get hit by...?
Zoogstin Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 You could try to catch someone with it. If you do you'll probably catch them lower in the air than you normally would which is fine. But for the most part, you use the karathrow because of the trajectory it sends carl. For me the main use of it is to not throw the opponent but to get to the ground quickly and hit my opponent with a low attack before they can react to the fact that I went downward so fast. When you airdash the opponent normally expects an aerial or high attack. To answer your question more specifically, karathrows at the end of the day are slower than just throwing normally. This is because of the little exta time it takes for you make the extra inputs. Other than that the throw speed is not different.

Zoogstin Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 So if someone is just barely underneath you, you can grab them with a kara throw, right? I don't know. That's not what I use it for. I only use it when I'm air dashing (as in my opponent is atleast half a screen distance from me).
Kyle Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 Do Note, Exact input for "Glide Toss" a.k.a. Kara-Airthrow J.66, 2[C]~B This can be combined with a "Super Jump" like this: 2, 8, 66, 2[C]~B This can be combined with an "InstantAirDash' like this: 9, 6, 2[C]~B This can be combined with a "Super Jump InstantAirDash' like this: 1, 9, 6, 2[C]~B
4Corners Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 ^that buuuuuuuuuut Final Round Be there, Zoogs. Then you, me, and Kyle can get drunk and whine about how bad Carl is in the new iteration. Or we can just place top 3. :D
DubiousCurvLoop Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 I'm interested in this. I would could be a part of either PSN or XBL.Hey, I didn't know you posted here on DL. I think I've played you online a couple times in the past, because your name looks awfully familiar. We should get some psn Carl training going sometime.
4Corners Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 ^Can we? GGs, Kyle. j.a is goooood BUT I'M BETTER! lolol No, srsly, ggs
bjholmes2 Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 If you think PS3 pad Carl is bad, wait until you try 360 pad Carl...
MisoSowee Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Really sad I don't have a 360 as well so I can run into the 360'ers (most carl players) I wanna run into bjholmes too~ on this side I got tae seong kim, who won't respond to a lot of my messages (I probably annoy him), pulsr, who mocks me when he beats me, 10stars, who also mocks me as he beats me, and TaoFTW, who I've never talked to but he beat me pretty awesomely. (super duper mind you) I'm still looking for an awesome tager player to play. No one has devised a counter against my ridiculous turtle-ness :X
Prophet Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Noel? The only Noel I've played recently is the Score Attack Noel (I got up to Arakune until I had to leave my friend)...I learned not to air dash at her. I wish I was better against V-13s and Hakumen. They know how to kill me... For V-13 I use 236B ALOT. I'm not very good though so I don't know how helpful that advice is. Seems to get me in close most of the time though...

Kyle Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Geez, you guys kept me busy with last night charade of bake-offs, plasma and grammar. Although, I did appreciate the grammar lessons. -ATTENTION ALL- Now that we know Miso & Mika are minors, and I mean really really minors. (~15). Dustloop will NOT TOLERATE remarks/comments about meeting with them or explicit sexual remark about them. I'm serious and Bans will be placed to users who do so. It's been very clear that Porn is vaguely acceptable as tagged, and pedo-bear stuff is ABSOLUTELY NOT TOLERATED. Take it to AIM or MSN at your own risk.
Kyle Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 I'm 23 lol. SeasonsBeatingsIV Happening this weekend! Gotta show everyone else what Carl is made of.
byronh29 Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 I'm a new Carl player and I'm having alot of trouble getting out of pressure, especially if I'm stuck in the corner. I haven't been able to figure out a good punishing move. Any suggestions? 2A, 5A, 6A, 2B, and 5B don't seem to have enough range to punish anything since most of the time the opponent's own moves push them so far away from me. I'm constantly whiffing these and it's making me lose. But 5C/3C seem way too slow and risky in most situations. I'm also looking for a way to get close to v-13. I was under the impression that 236A or 236B were invincible but I'm constantly getting punished for using them. If I try to airdash in or keep the puppet in front of me it's
4Corners Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Don't punish. IB and roll, or IB, SJ, and get out, or IB and summon. Against Nu, you can't just spam rolls. You have to use them intelligently. Mix them in with dj, sdj, and karacan iad, and you'll do better.
bjholmes2 Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Guys, really; just because Kyle isn't here right now doesn't mean you should write a lot of posts for him to delete later. Seriously, make his life a lot easier and stay on topic.
Kyle Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Deleted 6 Pages of post clutter. Seriously guys, this thread is going to be about Carl Clover in BB. It's embarrassing for Me & Dustloop when foreigners come to Dustloop.com Carl forums, they use google translator to get around the language barrier and all they can read about is plasma, baking & minors. Carl Clovers forums were the best character forums for organization and access to information until you three went on a your parade. enough. You are warned.
Kyle Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 I played well @ SBIV. Got a rage-quite in "Tourney Play". Dude was too salty, literally threw his hands in the air calling me names. As soon as I won I told him he could/should have late break + InfernoDivider to escape. lol Got RAN OVER by china-kyle, Stunedge, HC (<--Same dude) I've definitely gotta play against more rush down Jin's. 6A wasn't working. Lost badly to Alzarath. his Rachel is sick. It was a complete shut out. I have no idea how Chaz does it lol. (This is Chaz's training buddy, the Rachel lol) Off to train more after work.
