Just vivace as soon as he takes to the air. His mix-ups are really easy to block unless he has nails set up. Or summon Nirvana when he jumps, and srk/clap+viva to put him in a bad situation.

I play Bang like I do Tager. Zone him all day long, and use Nirvana to absorb projectiles. He has to get really close to do anything, so make sure he's in a sandwich situation and go to work. Just watch for that j.b, vivace, and you're home free. Or you can jump straight/toward them and grab for teh lulzy counter-grab. If you see him start a drive, just finish the BnB, and you've prolly hit him. Otherwise, you ate all of 2k damage. Ohnoes.

Treat Bang like a mixture of Tao and Tager, you'll be fine. Also, karacan iad kinda owns in this match-up, since most Bangs are always doing an attack when they jump, you get a nice CH grab>win.

What colour does he use? I think I've fought him before. I think there's been one Bang that's consistently beaten me on XBL, but I was drinking a little that night, sooooooo, it may have just been me playing like a re-re.

I'll add him and try to play him this weekend.

Anyone wanna play a little on Sat? I know its Halloween, but I'm pretty free for most the day, and haven't practiced in a week or two. =(

EDIT:

Oh, vs Bang, zone around his nails. Clap/SRK+allegretto (alternating) do a really good job of keeping him out, and frustrating the bang. Just be careful, cuz he can run up and drive Nirvana to hit you outta allegretto.

Then again, when he does that, he gets 2k damage, at best, so just take your lumps and 0-death him.

Don't get locked down in the corner, though. You WILL get command grabbed. =(

I'd love to do some matches this weekend. I'm just gonna be giving out candy to the kiddies anyway. I know I'm not a very good opponent, and I don't think there's anything I can teach you guys from playing with me, but if we can get a couple more people in the room, I'm fine with just spectating.

That is more of a Blazblue general thread. These char threads are for discussing gameplay. There are quite a few lurkers who just come to dustloop and read for info on how to play then don't bother because the information is completely covered in useless talk.

You are welcoem to make that thread in the "BlazeBlue general" section. Overlord Kyle, Vassels... sweet doo~d.

I just thought I'd try and save my fellow Carl players 1 hr 34 min of their life by saying:

Don't ever see Where The Wild Things Are. Not in theaters, not on DVD, not on Netflix. Don't even pirate it. It's that bad.

I'm completely serious.

Ummm... to keep things on topic... My friend made me a totally awesome b-day cake!

She thought putting a clover was cute. It was.

IF ONLY SHE USED RED FROSTING, I WOULD NOT HAVE KILLED HER!

For the combo 2B 3C (22D) 236A 2B into clap loop, how in god's name do I get the 22D to come the right time. I know it has to be on the rightside of the enemy (Nirvana-Opponent-Carl) but I usually have to pause to do the 22D, but then the 236A pushes me far away and I can't do the 2B into clap loop. If this post at all made sense, I'd like some help. Thanks

I have no idea how 236A is putting you too far from the enemy. Its distance is rather small. Are you canceling the 3C into 236A

Also about teleporting Nirvana. Yeah getting her on the appropriate side of the opponent is rather tricky considering how doing 236A too soon or doing 22D too late will end up putting her on the same side as you. You just have to do 22D as soon as possible. Its all mental, you gotta get out of the habit of pausing to teleport. Just keep on practicing. Back when i was practicing that a lot, sometimes I would get it often, and other times I could never get. I personally never use that setup and just to IAD allecan's. I find them easier to do than the 236A method.

What is the allecan method?

Thanks for the :D aboot my cake, people. I LIKED IT!

What is the allecan method?

You jc the 3c into an iad, j2c, allecan>appropriate loop variation for each character. Most can be caught with 2c. Kune, Carl, and maybe one or two others require weird variations. I think it's like... 5a, jc ja, jb clap, land, loop. Prolly wrong, though. I don't get to fight those characters enough to learn it. I find that practicing combo variations vs people helps me to learn them faster after I've got the basics down, but I wouldn't recommend that at all.

have to pause to do the 22D,

Input 3c, 2]d[ Instead of 3c, 22]d[

The 3 will count as the first down input of 22d if your quick enough (either that or my input is so bad that I input 2 while sliding to 3).

Just got our BB machine last week so learning how to play stick to beat up on randoms. Type A Carl prac.

I have the same problem. I only manage to get Nirvana to appear on the right side about 50% of the time, which makes me want to bang my head against the closest wall. :( As for the other method, my 2C always comes out too late after the IAD. At least I get the 236A summon combo sometimes, so I've been practicing that one instead.

I've tried that before, but it rarely ever works for me. I thought it wasn't a reliable technique, but I guess if others can do it just fine, I have to chalk that one up to crappy execution and practice more. Thanks for the tip!

The reason I prefer allecan to rolling is because you can input the teleport a little later. Instead of "canceling" the 3c into a roll, you input the teleport at about the same timing (maybe a little earlier), and then you can jc and do your stuff. Combos in this game are pretty slow, overall. Take your time, and you should be fine.

So, yeah. I'm a little PO'd at the moment, I'm not sure if it belongs here but I think it does so I'm posting here. I played an okay Jin in ranked, the match was pretty enjoyable and I ultimately won. But then he sent a message saying "its funny how u need the infinite to win". I'm sick to death of receiving these messages, so I actually messaged him back telling him that I'd rematch him in a player room without using the infinite. So I win the first match and he starts whining about how I'm still using 2C > 8]D[, and I'm like, jesus christ this is how Carl was designed and the match-up is heavily in your favor, are you SERIOUSLY still bitching? Last time I try to reach out to someone. :vbang:

I think this is incredibly stupid as well. The general consensus of online players nowadays seems to be that Carl players who use the throw loop don't deserve respect, despite the fact that it's the most technically challenging thing Carl has against some characters (especially online). If they still complain after being clap or sandwich looped to death it can't really be helped.

I can understand part of the frustration with Carl. The thing about his infinite is that once you find yourself in the throw loop, there is nothing you can do except hope for the other player to make a mistake. It hands the control over to the Carl player for potentially the rest of the match. That is never a sign of good game design, especially in a fighting game, and I'm glad they removed that in Continuum Shift.

Complaining about Carl's regular loops is ridiculous though. Reminds me of that hate mail I got -- the only one I ever received for using Carl; usually the feedback I get is pretty positive -- where the guy was asking me to "man up" and "stop using the doll to fight for me." :)

IIRC wasn't Carl absolute bottom tier before the infinite was discovered? And even being the only character in the game with an infinite loop, he isn't top tier.

Yeah. He wouldn't be Tager tier since he still has huge advantages against him without the infinite, but he'd still be as bad as or worse than Hakumen/Bang.

I've improved my execution and match-up experience to the point that I generally won't ever infinite Tagers unless it's a tournament match. And I still get double perfects from time to time against good players. :psyduck:

I finished another spring cleaning session of everyones general discussion. You guys keep me busy. To state-the-obviously because some people obviously don't get it. If it's Actually Carl Gameplay related, it stays. Now, go download //PIGG// video from x-boxlive and get back at how awesome that combo was. I really really need to upload vids guys. I've got a nifty collection. Izzy needs to upload vids to XboxLIVE. just press the yellow button after you win while you get your experience pts. =)

WILL DO! Didn't know how. I have some vids to put on youtube, but I keep getting disconnected mid-upload. I need to get some good video compression software.

I'd love to watch these videos, but unfortunately I'm on PS3. I would be much obliged if somebody could upload a few highlights to YouTube.

And uploading replays to the PSN servers only works when your total rank is above 1500, correct?

Posted

So kyle I tried pressing y to upload a replay All it did was delete one. =( Do I need to do it from the replay theater, or what? Maybe you have to be top whatever for your character? I dun play often enough to be ranked high, I would think.

Posted

Both players have to press Y or it won't work. You also have to be in the top 1500 leaderboard for overall matches.
