i wish Hyde had better Pokes... after fighting a merkava i gave up on using hyde... it's such an unfair fight...

Yea the match up is pretty bad. You have to force him to the corner, but good luck with that. That's one of the matches along with waldstein that have no answer to as Hyde.

Enter the void, surrender yourself, be guided by the inner shadow, and give into Destruction!

I'm trying to learn this game and I pick Hyde. Is there a BnB that works well for every situations ? Plus, how is the timing for 214A/B > 4A/B > 4A/B > 3B. I have problem with the 3B timing.

@Akiko My primer has all the BNB's you'll need. I posted it a bit earlier in the thread. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me.

Since UNIST location tests are happening, can someone try and figure out what is changing about Hyde? I am terribly inept when it comes to translating or anything like that.

Picked up the game today. I'm slowly making my way through Steel's primer. I just wanted to say hey and do my part to keep this thread alive. I'll post again once I have specific questions.

Edit: Was looking for some recent Hyde matches and I found some from KSB.  https://youtu.be/ZrrcFNDsz6o?t=46m54s

I don't like double posting, but it no one else has posted in a while.

Does anyone make use of comboing into 2C after a forward throw in the corner? It may be Linne-specific, but it seems useful for left/right okizeme. The 2C hits her from behind and you actually get switched into the corner. I feel like someone could come up with a good Tiger Knee'd Dark Lotus or 66C mixup afterward.

Posted

I'm sure that would have it's uses but I generally just stick with throw 3b 2c 236a 236a 2c safejump. Hydes complete lack of mixup is something I've just come to accept so I really don't even try for it, id rather just keep my opponent in the corner and slowly chip away at their life with his rather oppressive pressure game.

also worth noting is that I have never been able to figure out the dark lotus mixups so maybe with those it would become a much stronger option?

I think you may be able to add in more 3B before the last 2C in that safejump setup you mentioned. But, I see your point about his lack of mixup. I'm sure I'll come to a similar conclusion once I play the game a bit more. I think I'll stick to training mode/online play for about two weeks. After that I'll test my luck over at leisureland and see what I can learn from those guys.

I've seen a few matches where Hyde players end a pressure string with 3B 236A 66C 214A (delay) 214A and then re-apply pressure. Is that a solid option or is it just something players use against someone who has been trained not to press buttons on defense?

the thing about 3B into A orbiter is that you want to do it at max distance so you are even/slightly plus. this also works with 6B(2) 236A orbiter. the DC after the orbiter can win or trade in your favor. Dash C starts up in 15 frames, so it can catch someone at that distance. As far as the followup 214A goes, that combos on hit, and can be even on block if delayed properly (if they don't shield). If you have a setup, try both max range 3B and 6B(2) into A orbiter and have the dummy neutral jump after they block it to give you an idea of who has advantage at different ranges.

As far as throw combos that lead to 2C safejump, try 5C FF 3B 2C 236B 236A dash 3B 2C. You'll want to try and hit the 5C as late as possible. Hope this helped.

like steel mentioned there are more hits and different ways to do the setup, the one I posted is just what I can do consistently. I'll gladly sacrifice damage for consistency though lol

Thanks for the responses. I'll be working on these types of things for a while.

How about you guys? What kind of things are you working on with Hyde?

For me it's mostly match ups and neutral

Enter the void, surrender yourself, be guided by the inner shadow, and give into Destruction!

air orbiter sucks! that is all.

Dammit Grover.

As far as matchups go, Merkava, Vatista, Carmine, and Yuzuriha give Hyde the most trouble IMO. Working on a detailed writeup for matchups, so hopefully that will be up soon.

Grover has been gone forever. Yuzu is a battle of patience. Knock her down then kill her. Vatista can be rough but again a battle of patience and reads. Eltnum, linne, waldstein, merkava, and carmine are issues IMHO. Especially linne and merkava. Those two just piss me off. Merkava doesn't have to play the game and linne can derp in neutral due to roll, Kuuga, and dodge.

Enter the void, surrender yourself, be guided by the inner shadow, and give into Destruction!

The little I gathered from watching Hyde vs Merkava is that you don't want to force your way in when he's outside of your pokes and fast flying into divekicks. That's usually bait to make you throw a Dark Orbiter or rush in. Do either of them recklessly and you're likely to get hit by his glide attack or a long limb into a combo.

Merkava seems to be at a disadvantage when he's inside Hyde's pokes/pressure range. You can bully him a bit and slowly push him into the corner. Once Hyde has meter or Vorpal he should have 2 or 3 chances to land some hits and knock him down in the corner. It seems like he doesn't have a reliable reversal as well. But, be wary of going for a tick throw because he'll divekick you into a combo and then probably a left/right mix up.

Also, Merkava's pressure doesn't seem so scary on block. He slowly pushes you away without a solid option of getting in your face and re-applying pressure.

This is just from what I've seen in a few matches. I could be wrong about some things. I hope you guys correct me if I am so that I understand the match up correctly.

Posted

the thing about merkava pressure is the pressure itself doesn't need to be scary, one block string pushes you out pretty far which is where merk wants you. Noodle arm range I'd great for him because we really don't have an answer except a hard read. One of the things I find most frustrating in this matchup is that if he properly spaces his overhead > fireball he will be right outside of 41236C range.

I see. That does sound pretty frustrating.

Well, I think I'm gonna bite the bullet and head out to an arcade tomorrow night for some actual UNIEL matches. I need to play some real people and I figure I'll try and take advantage of the free play special on Friday nights. I'll keep track of Hyde players and see what they do vs Merkava.

stylish combo

6b 5[c] j5[c] 66b 214b 4b 4b 22a 236c 5c 214b 4b 4b.

I really don't think there's anything practical about this but it looks pretty damn cool. I just watched the vid tong linked and in wondering if maybe ja jc j6c after 236c would work to squeeze a lil more damage in.

i think the damage was a around 3.6k with vorpal start and chainshifting after the first rekkas, better damage can be found midscreen but i really thought this one looked cool.

Hey everyone! Deciding to make my first post after years of checking out tutorials and combo guides. Recently just picked up UNIEL and running into a few problems with Hyde and his Dash C and JC, I've been having trouble landing them after a basic 2A>5B>5C>236A>236A>Dash C>623C and landing the dash C and also 2A>B>C>6B>JA>JB>JC>3B>2C>214B>214B>214B and landing the JC after the JA and JB. Not sure what the timing is and can't land those parts of the combo. Advice?

As far as 236A> 236A Dash C is concerned, just practice it until you get it. You'll want to do your dash after hyde gets pushed back a little bit from the fireball. Don't do the second combo ever. It's not practical and you can get more damage doing easier combos. I have a primer earlier in the thread that can answer a lot of the questions you may have about Hyde.
