hi everybody. i have a quick and specific question.

I am not new to fighting games but i am new to BB. That being said I was trying Ragna Challenge #3 and i got to his Throw > Gauntlet Hades > Additional Attack > s.B > Inferno Divider > Additional Attack Combo for some strange reason i cannot cannot get the s.B to connect after the additional attack on the gauntlet hades, i've watched the demonstration but i can't seem to get it down i press s.B (i know not to mash) and either Bang ukemis and my attack is null and void or nothing happens altogether.

i've tried cancelling the gauntlet hades later in the throw to get more distance but nothing seems to be working, i know i'm doing something wrong but for the life of me i can't figure out what...any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Delay the second part of Gauntlet Hades, then once you land, link the 5B.

Ah yes, that does make much more sense :psyduck: Thanks very much i'll try it when i get home.

May of been mentioned already, but I found that 5B, 2B, 3C, 5D, (DC), 6A, 5D, 22C works correctly on Tager when you're in the corner in CS. In CT, he got flipped to the other side if you were both in the corner. Had to start further out for it to work before. Not that it matters anyway now though, lol.

3206 damage.

Huh.

Speaking of tager not switching sides, i haven't noticed that at all in CS. It just made me think for a long time. I guess they really fixed his hitbox somewhat, 5a whiffs on him now when he's crouching:(

I'm loving this new addition to blazblue. It's very similar to the trials in sf4 but better! There's a button to show you the combo in action so you know exactly how to perform it. Well I suppose it makes sense because blazblue combos are more complex. Also most if not all of the combos are practical unlike some of ssf4's.

Last time I played any BB was near the release of CT and I was a total noob. I played ragna for a bit but got frustrated because I could do the combos that were on the limited edition dvd so I switched to super ez tager. Don't get me wrong tager is tough to play really well, but i played one of the worst ones and managed to get to lvl 50. For example I would sledge stagger > throw > collider > 6c>5A>collider(delayed)... thats all i did. Thank god i don't do that crap anymore. Basically between BBCT and BBCS was all sf4 and ssf4. The skills don't really transfer over as well as i hoped so... but now watching videos of high level ragna play and attempting the challenge missions have helped my ragna a lot... combo wise. I still need to learn pressure string and improve my movement. So far i got to mission 9. I've only put about 10minutes into it but if you can land this in a game 5k damg is no joke. I'm not looking forward to mission 10 lol.

Just wondering has anyone finished all the missions?

Cool.

Street Fighter footsies do carry over, especially with Ragna. Whiff punish stuff with 5b

footies i can understand to an extent that but the pace is so god damn fast compared to sf4. people can air dash right above u run straight towards your face.

why is 2c whiff faster than 5b o_o

2c was buffed, news @ 10

+1 on block, fatal, gatlings to 6c, amazing proration, amazing damage.

It almost feels like 5b's replacement if it's startup was a little faster edit: AND HAD DAT RANGE

as an example: if you start the double BE combo with 22c knockdown you get 4010 for 5b, but around 4500 for starting with 2c

pretty silly

I find SF4 (a slow game) much faster than BB

:O

2c is good. that's why

Footsies is VERY important in SF (and most fighters granted) it's a chess battle played before the first blow is landed and is Beautiful is done correctly. I LOVED the Trials in (S)SFIV (i missed the time trials/survival modes in Super tho, am i alone on this?)

The great thing about BBCS is that Tutorial is ACTUALLY HELPFUL. in most games the tutorials are absolute crap and teach you nothing (DBZ games anyone?) i actually learned some things in CS' tutorials, plus i LOVE that Rachel insults you the whole time :keke:

I'm working on Ragna and Noel's Challenges now, i love that CS has so much replayability, SSFIV doesn't have much w/out online...

@Zeromus_X thanks for the combo advice, did it right off the bat when i got home :v:

BB only has the illusion of being fast because there's air footsies, most of the time there's a lot of steady spacing going on with two high level players

True. The fastest game (i think) hands down is MvC2 although Melty Blood looks like it's on Meth :keke: The "canon" SF games (SFII, SFIII:3S, and SFIV) are normally slower than most fighters, it's part of their beauty i think.

It's also why the Japanese are so F***ing good at them, they just weren't able to wrap their heads around a game like MvC2.

really, im getting 5.2k off normal 2C 3C meterless as opposed to 4.9k on 3C meterless

also, combos off HF RC, it really helps if you are able to not use 5B, but that kind of defeats the purpose of it. like you can do 2B 5C 214A RC 3C 22C dash 5B etc etc

This probably explains why the dummy techs early when I do HF RC combos with 5B when it's still red beating.

Hello guys! : D another general question i have is for Ragna's 3C on block to instant air dash forward in an attempt to cross up your opponent with j.C. My question is there a certain strategy to turn Ragna around when crossing his opponent up?

Hmmm, not sure but i know in alot of games SOMETIMES the game will move you in the right direction itself. (i.e. Zangief's Super/Ultra I in SSFIV) But even then it only does it SOMETIMES. I'm not sure in BB. So basically i've said nothing...:psyduck:

When you air dash, your character will not auto-correct their direction when they move over their opponent.

Ragna can still do a crummy cross-up-esque thing though. IAD over the opponent, but wait a hair after the dash ends. You can the do a jC in the correct direction. It's not hugely good because of how slow this whole process is, but it can catch people off guard, and seems to work well against Tager (for some reason).

This is the truth. Lesser players like to fly at each other alot, and it makes the game seem faster. Better players take their time (defensive spacing according to Rachel), and pick their moments to attack more carefully.

Lately I've been having a bad time controlling space and keeping players where I want them (Particularly mobile characters like Bang and Tao). When people are bunny hopping around, constantly IADing all over the place, it's a little much for me to bear.

I realize 6A is decent enough for controlling vertical space, but that still requires a degree of reading and reaction speed (Especially if Tao is coming towards you like a bullet).

So other than just "Get better reaction speed and reading" is there anyway I can improve on this problem? Grounded opponents are no trouble for me, it's just the air where shit starts falling apart.

Also, what are Ragna's better options after 3C on block? Obviously jump away, IAD and jump forward into an attack or barrier guard. But beyond jumping and committing to a special (IE GH or HF) what is left, 2D seems like an option, though a relatively bad one.

Posted

Depending on the character I make very liberal use of jA. It's very fast, and just tossing it out can make people nervous about dashing at you. It works wonders against bang. I tend to use jB alot more against Tao, it seems to beat or trade with her drives, and it has so many active frames you don't need to stress about timing something to hit her speedy dashes. The goal of doing this isn't to inflict damage so much as it is to make the opponent think about their approach a bit more.

Edit: as for 3C. One of my favorite tricks is to do nothing. Most people are waiting for you do do something after. So I do nothing and dash back in to the fray. Damn the frame data. Don't get predictable though, because this is really reliant on conditioning and your opponents habits.

Posted

Okay Im going to sound stupid or something but I can't get his 5D into 22C. Is there like a timing on it or do I need to do something else?

Posted

are you just doing 5D or are you doing a combo? In order for you to do 5D to 22C, you either need to do 2D or 3C in the combo.
