zand Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 This info is from Slash, btw, but, Millia is all about 5H/2H (mostly 5H) and slayer is all about being really fucking careful. In SL matchup, learn to 3k all his 3k-able moves on reaction, and being careful about which angle you come in at from the air (you do not want to get 5p/6p'd by slayer, because 5p->6H-pb loop will kill you, ard, and 6p to the same will kill you as well). Against millia your 5H will work wonders, im saying it again because it "fixed" this matchup for me. Also, NEVER ANTI AIR EITHER OF THESE CHARACTERS (unless millia doesn't have a pin), and NEVER GET A BLOCKED 3K. They are both super killer to may from a blocked 3k (slayer gets a CH 5H iirc) Also, to learn may matchups extremely well it helps to read other characters forums matchup threads and look for info on May. Most of playing with may in anything but AC is uphill and you HAVE to learn to be able to beat whatever people are going to be doing to beat you. the toughest part about playing may imo is being able to deal with the fact that certain characters have things they can do to totally shut you down if you play a certain way, and being able to change your playstyle to beat that~ go post in the millia thread for example "whats the hardest thing about fighting may" or AIM the heads for those forums or even other people and harass them into helping

I usually end up going for an airthrow if I react quickly enough, or 5H, or vert dolphin, but all of those options are hard or impossible for me to time correctly in certain situations. Sorry if this question has been asked before, but this is probably the weakest part of my May game. It makes me yearn for Millia with her excellent AA options :-P (posted in the matchup thread because I believe the answers will be matchup-dependent)

It took for me forever to get use to this, but this puts her in a situation that is more then neutral because if they already DJed they will be back turned and you can poke with out worrying with out to much coming out. the P hoop is still incredibly good for an anti air however getting a a HC out in a tight situation is mentally hard. I have yet to see the hoop get stuffed though.

Aba will stuff may cleanly all over the place, and since may does not have enough pressure to keep aba blocking aba will just zerg May and yeah... expect to lose. the match is hard but not impossible though expect to be using a lot of hoops =/

I've been playing the May/A.B.A. matchup and it's even worse that he describes. ABA out-ranges May, out-prioritizes May, out-damages May (barely), and has a reasonable answer for anything May can do. The ONLY saving grace is that May is decently equipped to make her hit the floor three times, but even this is offset by the fact that ABA can now switch herself out and then back into Mohora with one combo. So yeah, just learn ABA and that should help you take care of May. It also has the added bonus side-effect of being good against Jam as well. Still won't take care of that pesky Eddie problem, though.

I honestly don't know the match up that well, and I feel i won against kenji and dennis because they knew even less about My May. They are GOOD though, but a gentleman who is AWESOME name steve(forgottenkazama) really showed me my ass with a great defense against my May. honestly ghost and sword eat a LOT of 3k, and always 2s dog at a FAR rang. Rember he has a shoryu, rauh has an even better shoryu, a FAST dust and great low damage Learn to fight against Rauh and it won't be soo bad. IN general i found it hard to nail a lot of counter hits, try to punish with OHK at all cost.
Nhur Posted June 23, 2007 Posted June 23, 2007 when i fight agaist raoh i try attak him, if he lauch his haduken you can attak with 3 K os similar atack (ground viper etc...) is like SF3 agasi chun li, block low for life XDD, if he make the srk and you guard of it you have a free combo *__*, it dont have a lot of mix ups in overheards..... if you guard down you only have to wait his D, or j. hs ora grab if he have the dog I try to save my tension for dead angle, or 41236 P for kill the dog when i and guarding it. be careful with his unblokeable, (he best problem for make it is the position of the dog, if the dog is little far from you he cant make it, and is the time for make the dead angle. the gosh if the player is good ais dificult to guard it try don be hit by a gosh and guard of zappa ataks will be more easy. if he try invoke some spritit (his srk i dont remember the name) try grab him *___* his srk is wake to grabs :3
Nhur Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 I have a lot of problems fighting agaist Sol. his shoryu amd his 2D break all my game, y try make mixups or things like 41236 S but the only "safe" way to try attack him is make fb dolphins. is little hard because the sol player is someone that knows me a lot, and is little hard that he miss the srk , my prinsipal trouble is fight agaist his 2D >_> the weight of may is little bad for sidewinder loops but sol makes a lot of damage too T__T XD
pulsr Posted June 28, 2007 Author Posted June 28, 2007 well look at it this way sol has no real way of getting in on may. just zone him with k,s,s and run around a lot. He can't do volcanic vipers if hes to far away even if he tries to clip your standing kick. If you get stuck in his pressure which is most likely going to be something something grab, something something gunflame/bandit revolver, you should watch his meter and look out for gunflame FRCs other then that you can FD SJ out of most of the pressure, even though i still prefer to block and wait for him to do something stupid like a bandit revolver and IB OHK. Sol isn't that bad he has to be REALLY close now to do any form of damage, just keep him out, and as stupid as it sounds assume every move will be a viper and you might surprise your defense against sol becomes a lot better ;p

Nhur Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 a lot of may attacks can make disapear the traps dolphins, 6 HS, 2 S, ad the trees you can make disapear it with dolphins too, if you think that you have a lucky day you can run to testament an make a OHK or 3 K, JRR i think that is useful too. if the testament player makes a lot of counters, sure you will break his game if you make a OHK and very cool combo later of that (if he see that if he makes a coutner can be seriously punished ) sure he won make more free counters :3 i dont known a lot of this match up but sometimes i play agaist my girldfriend she plays may and when i play testu is very hard make a good preasure agaist crazy noob may XDD. a lot of long range attacks that makes disapear the traps. i hope that my info can be helpful for you T_T my english sucks dood T__T

Wicked Cricket Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 I really like May. Had my first PvP experience with her yesterday. She seems like a good counter for Jam, in my opinion. Her 3K kills all versions of Jam's dash attack, even the FB one!
