fatewalker Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 if Slayer uses j.HS alot in jump ins or IAD strings air throwing it is usally a safe bet. his J.HS is Slow but has Jedi powers. your best bet is to go for the throw or block it. also ig he has 50% tension avoid summoning anything besides Bubbles. he'll kill you.
Gonzales Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 so i just played an Anji today and i was like "it can be that bad he's like bottom tier":keke: boy was i wrong:gonk: fuck dizzy has no answere to his pressure not only that, he gets an unblockable if he has 25% tension for the force break, the only thing i could do was burst or if i had tension reversal super. Not only that he has an option select combo, wich if you tech early he gets a free grab or if you dont tech he can continue the combo:( so it seems to me that the whole machtup consists of not letting him get a kockdown and to aprouch him with caution cause hi's gurad point can eat througth some of your fish and give him the kockdown he needs to win. Once i started playing that way i was able to even out my win-lose ratio a bit. just goes to show you dont underestimate bottom tiers:kitty: P.S Just in case people are wondering this was a good Anji(complete with mindgames and spacing)
fatewalker Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 Anji's pressure is vary good. and IMO it is in his favor. but like Slayer it has some pretty big gaps that can be punished. mostly his Fuujin extensions. -punish P extension with j.S -Punish K extenshin with c.S during the cross over. -punish S extension with 5K after it is blocked. (FRC is tricky to punish) -Punish HS or D with 2K. you can score a CH 2HS on his D if you time it right. -if he uses Stomps learn to air throw them. K stomp is also a free throw when blocked. assuming he is close enough. getting around his Gaurd points is prety simple with a fish or Arrow out. attack low while the projectile attacks Mid. he can't GP both at once.
Gonzales Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 *edit* The Evo problem is being dealt with *edit* BTW thanks for the tips againts Anji fatewalker
excelence Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 thank you for the input on Slayer match up, i'll take that into account =) @Gonzales : about dealing with BBU, err i'm not realy certain with Dizzy 2k/2d on reaction... does that realy work? i've try it with Jam 5k and Buri 2k which does work... and i'm not to confident with Dizzy 2k/2d ... the 2d has slow start up and 2k i might misstime it for being realy fast
Gonzales Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 I've done it its just a very stric timing:psyduck: BBU is fast and upperbody invincible but its vurnuble to a low. If you miss thougth your fuckked, a safer option would be to just block thougth cause its like -bajillion on block:kitty:
excelence Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 i thought so ... i've never realy certain to go against BBU with anything slow or with huge hit box an also with Dizzy 2k, i've never really certain with the range of this normals i'll hit practice mode later
Gonzales Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 i love using 2k, not only does the animation look really cute:) if you spce it properlly you cant get trown out of it cause her hit box doest move while she's doin 2k
fatewalker Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 2K will work. but it's less on reaction and more poking with it. he'll tend to BBU into it alot. make him learn that BBU is not a godsend like Slayer would like to beleave.
Gonzales Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 2K will work. but it's less on reaction and more poking with it. he'll tend to BBU into it alot. make him learn that BBU is not a godsend like Slayer would like to beleave. yeah i use 2k as one of my main pokes in the slayer macthup:keke: unfortunatly it loses to his stomp:rolleyes:
Nehle Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 Yeah, a good Slayer won't just random BBU you, because his pokes work just as well and tend to outpoke you. Like I stated earlier if he gets a 2H CH (and, yes, all your pokes lose to it) then he gets a 90% combo for free. So, yeah, don't poke without cover, it's really dangerous
Gonzales Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 yup your rigth a good slayer wont just randomly use BBU but a counter picking slayer would:psyduck: i went to a ranbat and there was like 7 slayers and only 2 were good all the other slayers were just counterpicking. There train of thougth is: "look a Dizzy player let me counter pick Slayer since i get a one hit kill combo off BBU:yaaay: hehehe easy win" fuck that shit if you ever see a slayer player randomly use BBU rape him for it. Actually anybody who's a Dizzy main should take a vow not to lose to people who counterpick like that:cool: PS. In tournaments people tend to counter pick me with either Axl,Chipp, or Slayer.:8/: So if your goin to a tourney make sure your well versed in those machtups
zaeris Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 In recent time I've learnt most of my match up. GG is well balance for anyone to win, Axl and Slayer isn't as bad as you think they are. Even baiken is a good adversary from time to time. I've only had one main but I can kick alot of asses in my region. Eddie is like the only character that I have strong hatred towards. While beating him is easy enough, I dislike his unblockable set up and Mawaru. You can beat him to his last health but it only takes on Mawaru combo and one unblockable to dizzy (the status) and IK you. Tips on fighting Eddie, kill little eddie when possible. Learn super jumping to escape corner ASAP, if you’re blocking his mix up just DAA or burst as soon as possible. Never ever try blocking his string it’s just not worth doing. While you can block them but you'll will need to wait for his little Eddie bar to decrease by alot to be safe. Most of his pokes are better than yours, so don't even try to unless you have cover fish, spike.... you can bait his pokes though, A well time 5hs into ice spike can beat 2s but I don't advise it unless you can anticipate it. Basically strategy, keep away and summon. Aim for KD and tick throws and never let him escape once you score a KD.
Double Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 So most of you think Slayer has a huge advantage in this matchup? I honestly love this matchup, because slayer players cant really do what they want to do... at least not as well (80% kill combos aside). Dizzy is IMO the best character in the game to punish bdc jumps and specials. Not to mention that you can backdash most of slayers stuff and get a throw, and also if you are playing a slayer that likes to go for throws alot, the increased throw range really helps. 5-5 matchup imo; and its a really fun match to play/watch. BTW fatewalker, nice matches, though you probably shouldnt throw out 2H as much as you did.
Merilyn Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Why don't we have character specific matchup topics like the other character forums!
excelence Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 i'm not realy certain if Slayer v Dizzy is 5:5... i do agree if Dizzy has a fish all the time she trying to poke (+_+). Slayer 2h and j.h is a retard and every time he has 50% tension, i believe Dry summoning = DOT combos
fatewalker Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 when some one picks Slayer agaisn't me i smile. the match up is in Dizzy's Favor. ihavn't lost to a Slayer yet. and i've played some good ones. random note: Dizzy can dash over slayers 2K and 2HS!
excelence Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 about Dizzy dash thx for the info... i ve been abusing her lower invincibility on dash lately versus ABA 2d, Ky 2k, and slidehead to get CH
Gonzales Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 when some one picks Slayer agaisn't me i smile. the match up is in Dizzy's Favor. ihavn't lost to a Slayer yet. and i've played some good ones. random note: Dizzy can dash over slayers 2K and 2HS! lol i thougth i was being slick when i started doing that:keke: i guess everybody did that before me, i feel stupid:kitty:
Double Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 his 2k too? wow thats awesome yeah dashing over slayers 2h is always fun
fatewalker Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 learning what Dizzy can and cannot dash over i think is key to playing her. i miss the days of dashing over Grand Viper....
Jet Set Dizzy Posted March 4, 2008 Author Posted March 4, 2008 i dont think slayer match is so bad either, being the match i play 90% of the time.
fatewalker Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Slayer can Kill Dizzy in to combos. possibly one but if Slayer gets to keep 100% tension then your playing the match wrong to begin with. Dizzy can kill slayer in 2~3 combos and is more likly to hit Slayer then he is her. Slayers normals may be better then Dizzy's, but he has little to no way to get around her range game. he also has trouble keeping up with her Speed. this may come as a shocker to so but Dizzy is a Speed type of character. if you play Dizzy right Slayer should spend most the match hopping around hoping to get near Dizzy. besides Pot Slayer is one of Dizzy's easiest matches IMO.
Nehle Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 No No Here is WHY Slayer is a bad matchup. First of all, yes, Dizzy needs to run to set up her game, and Slayer needs to chase her. Guess who gets the tension gain? Slayer build tension like CRAZY dashing after Dizzy, and as soon as he is past 50% any type of careless summon means a dead Dizzy. Second of all, Slayer HAS options to close in fast, mappa can take him across half the screen in half a second, and if Dizzy tries summoning within mappa range, then that's a free CH for him. Third of all, Slayer has much better damage output than Dizzy, and he can get into his combos from almost any random hit, while Dizzy needs to get her good setups going. If Dizzy DOES manage to get her summong game going, she can be on the offense but as soon as she doesn't land a knockdown combo on Slayer she's going to have to be on the run - again, and that is never favorable. Okizeme wise, Slayer isn't as good as Dizzy, but here's the kicker, if Slayer fails his okizeme he is still in a very favorable position because the close-up game belongs to him unless he is in blockstun or Dizzy has a summon. Similarily, if Dizzy fails her oki / lockdown then Slayer is ALSO in a favorable position while Dizzy has to run away and try to find a new opening to get on the offense, all the while chased by a Slayer gaining tension fast. Sorry fatewalker I guess you haven't played against any good Slayers :\
Double Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 i really disagree and i have definately played against good slayers. 50% tension aside, dizzy has the tools to beat slayer even without fish covering her.
