I MUST HAVE THIS GUH I see Ishiwatari's drawings, and that's good enough for me~. Although does anyone know what exactly is in it? Hopefully it won't be a rehash of the other artbooks, although I wouldn't mind seeing some of them in a larger size. Holy shit though, shipping is EXPENSIVE. Book is about $24, right? Well, shippin' to Colorado's $31! :psyduck: Anyone interested in putting in one order? I'll totally be willing t'set it up! (If we get 5 people, shipping's $9 per person! :0)

Yeah man I'm not going to lie amazon.jp shipping can be pretty crazy. The best way to get your money's worth is to try and buy some other things along with it. So I dunno maybe try and hunt down some other artbooks you might want or maybe get that Blazblue guide like I am. Would really be nice if play-asia was selling this book. Their shipping is far more cheaper.

I've begun working on (slowly) translating stuff. Mostly stuff that's of interest to me. A lot of the information isn't really new, and I don't want to spend a ton of time translating minor things like move details for all the characters, but still, I'm working on stuff. I fully translated Raven's pages, except for the voice data, as I'd prefer to use the official English translations. The other two pages I've done so far are partial.

Chapter 2: Character

"GUILTY GEAR" CHARACTER RELATIONSHIPS CHART (Pages 28-29)

[Note: Minor correction: Visual -> Vizuel]

AXL (Pages 53-56)

Keywords to Understand Axl

Timeslip: The immediate cause is unknown, though "an existence parallel to himself" is the key, Axl continues to experience the Timeslip phenomena. According to Mr. Ishiwatari, the "parallel existence," well, it's an unexpected character completely different from the current theory amongst the fans, it's said he will have eternal youth until the phenomena ends.

RAVEN (Pages 138-139)

The immortal who sincerely worships "That Man"

RAVEN

レイヴン (Reivun)

PROFILE

Height: 181cm

Weight: Unknown

Birthplace: Germany

Blood Type: A

Age: (He himself doesn't remember)

Birthdate: March 28th

Dislikes: Himself for not being able to love anything

What he wants: Proof he existed

CV: Shigeru Sakano ("XX" Series), Hiroki Yasumoto ("2") [, Jamieson Price (English "2")]

Character History

"2"

One of three people that are associated with "That Man", he is a loyal follower. Even if his body were reduced to carrion it would regenerate, for he is an ageless and immortal being. Though he has a gentle demeanor, the perverse pleasure he finds in pain shows his masochistic personality. In "2" he was instructed by "That Man" to observe and hinder Valentine, and he played a part in provoking Sol into defeating her.

Keywords to Understand Raven

Perpetual Youth and Longevity: The shocking past told in a short story, Raven is by nature genetically immortal, and he ceased to age at the moment the immortality phenomenon manifested. A mysterious "cylindrical space" is also described in the short story, but the details remain unclear.

"That Man": Why has Raven sworn allegiance to "That Man"? When Mr. Ishiwatari was asked, "as he kept living longer, he grew "tired" of all the original values he held onto, so it was out of gratitude to the man that gave him motivation," was given as the reason.

Axl: According to Mr. Ishiwatari, the theory that Axl and Raven are parallel existences is unfounded (refer to Axl's section in this book). Regarding his immortality, it is not due to time jumping.

Raven's Appeal

First appearing in the novel edition, and henceforth wrapped in mystery as a character near "That Man", Raven has occasionally appeared in the home console versions. Standing out with an intense background of perpetual youth and longevity, accompanied by nihilism borne from long life, acting like he has a "deathwish", and so on -- many are drawn in by this dark allure. Having watched the world like Sol, he is pessimistic, and could be called a dark hero.

(SCREENSHOT) Raven: As I thought, you're one of the wheels that move the world. I wish I could kill you now, but I guess it's not the right time.

(CAPTION) ↑ Like Valentine, he is a very mysterious person. "The wheels that move the world," what could they be...?

Mr. Ishiwatari Talks About Raven

He's a character presented as a "tired" man. Since he's immortal, he's "tired" on an extraordinarily large scale. When you see him getting off by suffering, take the fact that he's "tired of it" into consideration, and that's the idea. In "2" we took the religous custom of placing coins over both eyes of the dead, and placed a coin over one of his eyes to represent that he's half dead, though, I like Gatchaman, so (laughs), that silhouette was incorporated into the design of his mantle.

~Character Abilities~

● Excellent lockdown ability with first-rate running speed

Since he has the same Tribe as Valentine, their forces are identical, but because their Master abilities differ greatly their practical uses are also different.

Raven possesses a variety of projectile special moves, his Lock ↓ X has invincibility and his Lock ↑ X has high rushing power, the number of moves and reach of his Lock XX is great, and he has many excellent techniques for close combat.

Also, most of his skills give indirect effects. Especially symbolic, the Slow Field that's produced by "Fesseln Wimper". Because applying this can immediately nullify an enemy's fighting potential, you can constantly kick up the pressure on your opponent. He has extremely unpleasent abilities.

(CAPTION) ↑ Candy's strength and Raven's skills are a good match, making it easy to launch an attack early on.

(CAPTION) ↑ His long range and close range techniques are even, so he's strong in fights against other Masters.

Special Moves Introduction ("2")

His special moves are attacks that use needles, and most are projectiles. However, they're weak when attacking multiple enemies.

Special: Traurig Zeiger [Woeful Needle]

- This is a projectile attack where he does a strange pose and needles fly up into the air. Although the range is short, it floats, so at the moment it hits you can decide to pursue the opponent. Stepping into close combat and finding ways to insert it into combos is fundamental.

Special: Schmerz Berg [Painful Mountain]

- This is a projectile attack where he lets a needle fly forward at high-speed. Very high attack power, and it knocks back on hit. It's best for keeping them at a distance.

Special: Kreisen Weh [Circling Hurt]

- Three needles are lined up to the left and right and he lets them fly, this is a short range projectile attack. The needles can be sent out up to three consecutive times through multiple inputs. Though the range is short, its area is wide so it's useful for eliminating Servants. Because its damage is low, it's not efficient to use for dealing damage.

Special: Gebrechlich Licht [Fragile Light]

- Projectile attack which lets loose a high-speed needle at the locked-on target while in the air. As an aerial attack it's difficult to counter, and being able to attack unilaterally is also a strength. It can easily be used to keep air combos in check. What's more, it can be used in a group battle to take out Servants without coming under attack.

Overdrive: Verzweifelt [Desperation]

- Overdrive Attack where he lowers to ground level, then leaps high into the air and dives back at the ground. It has extremely high attack power, and it can envelop multiple enemies so its destructive force is great. Also, after it's done it's possible to strike various poses by pushing the left stick in different directions. Pay attention to the various poses when performing the attack. They're worth seeing.

Servant Introduction

He and Valentine share a Tribe so their soldier types tend to be the same. There are many soldiers with peculiar strengths.

P Blancmange

- Magic soldier. It possesses "Black Feet" which slows down the speed of one enemy, useful in fights against Masters.

Gateau Skin

- Range soldier. Though their ability is low, they can be summoned at the start so you can have them march alongside nearby soldiers.

Candy

- Melee soldier. It has a fast travel speed and is the strongest of the low-level melee soldiers. When its HP decreases its attack power goes up.

Cherry

- Mobile soldier. Mille-feuille summons three of these Minions from its body when it appears. Have them stand-in as shields.

Mille-feuille

- Elite Mobile soldier that summons Cherries and Cherry Hatchets. Although its frequency is low, its survival capacity is high because it attacks immediately after the Cherry summons are down. It's the primary soldier within the Tribe.

Cherry Hatchet

- Mobile soldier. It's summoned from the corpses of Servants. Has high HP, and its faint attack is strong.

Éclair

- Elite Range soldier. It attacks with "Normal Shot" at long distance, and when approached uses "Proximity Attack" and jumps back.

Miss Tiramisu

- Elite Magic soldier. Has the powerful "Blood Marionette" skill which seals the attack of one enemy when the shot penetrates their body.

Karasu

- A Minion that can be called with Schwarz Wolken. It absorbs the enemy's Tension Guage.

Charlotte

- Elite Armor soldier. Although it has little physical strength, "Rex Crow" abosrbs HP, and it performs a jump attack, so its survival rate is high. It comes in handy as a counter measure against Range soldiers, and as a wall in group battles.

Concerning Raven's Skills

Not there

- His form is erased instantly, then appears behind the Locked target. After appearing behind them you can input an additional X to deliver a spin kick that can't be guarded. Also, if you unleash it while your opponent is in the air you will launch an exclusive aerial attack. Even though it can only be used once, it can be incorporated into strong combo attacks. You can use it without selecting an opponent, so it's useful under any circumstance.

Fesseln Wimper [binding Lash]

- A setup technique that produces a Slow Field. In the Lock direction a number of long, thin needles appear and transform. When a Servant enters the field their travel speed falls and they are cursed with a condition that prevents them from attacking. The effect is displayed in group battles.

Ledig Blick [One Glance]

- The Heavy Feet effect is added to the Locked target. Although it takes time to cast, it's excellent because it's effective at any distance, and it can't be guarded.

Schwarz Wolken [black Clouds]

- The Mobile soldier Minion "Karasu" is summoned. Karasu absorbs the Tension Guage in Master battles, and becomes a decoy in Servant battles.

(CAPTION) ↑ He has the ability to deal experience point damage to the enemy.

Leopaldon (CV: ?)

Final boss of "Guilty Gear Isuka". The union of a huge Gear and a mysterious Sorceror with the capability to control Gears, who yields control to the instincts of a female dog which had previously been preyed upon by the Gear and united with it, while he exercises its power for the sake of the Arctic people. The power to control Gears should belong only to Autonomous Command-Type Gears, but why the Sorceror has this power or what his goals may be, everything is unclear. In-game its large build covered both of the two lines and its techniques that couldn't be canceled, invincible periods, and the special dizzy effects it possessed, overwhelmed players.

Man, I'm looking forward to progress with this. If you turn it into a text faq, and link it, I'd appreciate it.

I updated Raven's profile with translations of his quotes. The official English lines match up for the most part, though a few are worded differently and a couple were different, so my translations don't match up exactly. Not sure if anyone but Blade would really care, though. :sweatdrop:

Even if it's only me, I'd still like to thank you for the hard work you're putting out, especially lately. Thanks.
