Exactly. I swear, ACen is the strictest con I've ever been to in terms of just piles and piles of rules and regulation of stuff and all that.... :8/: I've heard AX is bad about that too but I'm not sure first-hand. I understand ACen has space issues but seriously.. 6 inches? I could understand wanting to keep the amount of giant wings blocking up the hotel areas down, but 6" is just too little. A foot, maybe.

I think it's probably just cuz it's damn crowded.

Thanks! I'll admit I.... don't particularly feel like I do, really, though mostly I just have *ahem* height sensitivity issues (yeah one of those tiny short girls, hence why I cosplay May). But I hate the ugly inaccurate bitchboots Japanese cosplayers wear even more, so XD;

I don't mind them when they cosplay characters who doesn't have a specific personality, or expression to make an effort to pull out (since they always seems to be able to make one single expression, like Kipi, same face, different outfits, just like some kind of porcelain doll), like Vocaloid characters...but other than that, it's boring, if I wanted to look at pretty faces, I'd simply read playboy or look at this month Victoria Secrets' issue.

I'm fairly small myself, so yeah, I understand the feeling <___<. But I'm not small enough to cosplay child characters.

lolwat

She's like that, don't ask *shrugs*

Oh wow, I've never seen her before. She looks awesome :yaaay:

Aw thanks :3. There's not so many pictures of her that got posted online, sadly.

Yeh. Lots of cons get the 'move to a bigger venue!' complaint each year but in ACen's case, it looks like the kind of con that could use it. Granted, I was only there for the one Saturday last year but boy is that place crowded.

I hate shoopfaces. Ugh. Removing severe blemishes is one thing, plasticizing yourself is completely another. That said, Japanese cosplay has some very different values in comparison to European/South American and especially American cosplay, so I suppose you can simply chalk it up to 'cultural differences'. In Japan, it's more about the ends of portraying the character than the means (how the costume is made/bought, shooping, etc).

JUST BARELY 5'1" :vbang:

Actually, some of them aren't really that shooped. Most are. But some are just minimally, mainly for the irises (since wearing different lenses for every cosplay they do could be somewhat dangerous for their eyes) I've seen a webcam video from Kipi, and she doesn't look much different with and without shoopage. But she's somewhat an exception.

Oh, I know that, and eye color shooping is actually something I'm okay with/indifferent to; I'm one of those that can't wear contacts either so I'd shoop eyes if I had to prolly, I might for Kokonoe. But plasticizing skin bugs me.

Haha, I don't follow cosplay idols. I find the entire concept a bit silly :psyduck: But that's just me.

It's pretty much like another form of modelism. I'm not a big follower either, but I'm sort of a fan of Japanese pin-ups (...actually, Litchi's seiyuu, who's a gravure idol too, is some of the things that caught my Interest in Blazblue too)

I do think ACen could use a bigger venue, but I can't think of one that would keep it in the same area...

McCormick Place would do great for space, but parking would be terrible. REALLY REALLY TERRIBLE since it's right outside of downtown.

$19 parking lot :vbang:

Though, living literally in the Loop, I could all but walk to the con, then :yaaay:

Man, so I confirmed today that my dorm kicks us out the Sunday of ACen, so either... I can't go at all Sunday, or I'll have to lug my suitcase to con for whatever time I spend there before I hop on the train to continue on to O'Hare. Almost certainly won't be able to cosplay :/ Shitsux. Though at least that means that my last final will be the preceding Thursday, so I'll be completely open for con Friday and Saturday (assuming the movers don't pull some lame shit like only taking our boxes Saturday).

My school kicks us out the Wednesday before ACen so I am pleased.

The main problem is...I don't live around here, lol. So I wouldn't be able to go to ACen at all if it were any later than it is, because I wouldn't have anywhere to live. It'd be kinda a hassle to fly back home in the east, then fly back a week or two later just for ACen.

Ha, not surprised that they're selling Dizzy's shoes. Since she's been in Queen's Blade she'll be even more popular now. As if Cure isn't saturated enough with crappy fanservicey Dizzy's and Bridget's :vbang:

(I have a special kind of hatred for those who cosplay Bridget just because of the meme and have never picked up the game in their life.)

They are kind of creepy...but stuff like that doesn't scar me...things like Fat Yoko...scar me. ;~;

Or Man-Faye.:gonk: I would say "Sailor Bubba", but I find that one hilarious for some reason.

OMG FLONNE.__________. ISH ADROABLE. That wig...looks.........shiney.LOL....... looks nice but perfer more yellow/blonde?..(but i like it =D)

Oh wow.. Someone tried to cosplay as the Love Freak? At least she did a fairly good job at it... And it actually works rather well, considering who she looks like.. Not like how Man-Faye would do it if he wanted to cosplay Flonne.

Perhaps.

I might look into getting a more natural blonde color [this one's kind of light]... I don't want yellow though. :<
