Zouf Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Where are the holes in her pressure? It looks like she has an infinite pressing in corner, couldn't find anywhere to mash Her swords are too fast and chip so much, this is ridiculous
Azular Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 Get her to go for her overhead and, on block, you can sweep her, I believe. That's what I've figured out so far.
lofo Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 Get her to go for her overhead and, on block, you can sweep her, I believe. That's what I've figured out so far. Her 6K is +0 and her combination overheads are +3. I'm not seeing how you can sweep those.
Ken-oh Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Yeah this matchup seems ridiculous, I have no idea what Ky is supposed to do. I've watched some Ain matches but he comes off worse from the encounters. Once she gets you in the corner, you're basically done unless they fuck up. You can't zone with fireball because she can just set a sword on top of you and you won't recover in time to block it. Her j.P is so good, it beats out most everything and she can get a hard knockdown from it, which lets her set swords. You just have to constantly be pressuring her and not letting her get her nonsense started. Easier said than done though. I played a good Ram for the first time and got absolutely annihlated, literally couldn't move so any other thoughts would be appreciated...
qwerty Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Sealed Air Stunedges are your friend in this matchup. Play the fullscreen game for as long as you can without putting yourself in a bad position and don't try to out-poke her until you're at mid range (approximately f.S max range). This matchup definitely sucks though. I think it may be worse than Faust lol. Ram is basically Zato without the commitment of Little Eddie; she can keep swords on top of you for basically the entire round to prevent you from doing anything.

In all fairness I can't really add to this but I do agree with you that the matchup doesn't seem great for Ky, it generally seems like you as Ky has the take the offence and stay on top of her as much as you can as soon as you can If you give her space to set up swords neutral suddenly becomes way more annoying as swords are much faster than stun edge, break ciels and are great at punishing approaches Still looking for holes to punish as there doesn't seem to be many Ky can punish really, so patience seems like the key I'd love to hear people's thoughts on this especially since I find myself struggling too
xlolxlolx Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 ky has to outplay her pretty hard to win, your best move against her is j.hs, if she comes in with her j.hs try your best to run under it or get out of the way and then punish you have to play aggressively and not let her run away so she can't set swords, iad yrc is good against her, se and cse yrc just outside of her f.s range, sweep into delay forward jump low airdash/empty jump mixup midscreen
