GET EXPOSED is Dustloop community project designed to introduce the internet to Blazblue communities from all over the world. If you and your community are interested in participating, please check out the thread here.

This week we bring you an interview from Montreal, Canada.

Nini Heart interviews four of Montreal's crew to give you a better idea of what their scene is like!

Interviewer- Nini Heart
Interviewee- Brice, Kirbster, Vice-Taicho, pochp, BladeOfJustice7

Nini Heart: Okay! We're currently in the heart of MTL and we're gonna go meet up with the Blazblue boys, so get hype. Gonna see where the Montreal scene hangs and what they do. Oh shit I'm going into a dungeon. Going into a dungeon, dungeon, 18+! Sorry guys, no kids here this is serious business. So this is the place where Montreal players are fiending. Blazblue on the right. Blazblue on the right. Marvel! Games everywhere. We got Street Fighter, Street Fighter, MK... We got everything over here. This is Montreal- Canada's top for fighting games, the best city for fighting games in Canada. Get hype.

Part 1: Brice

Nini Heart: Uh oh, this is Montreal's ex-champ! Montreal's ex-champ who doesn't speak English!

Brice: Fuck you.

Nini Heart: So we're gonna perform this in French. (In French) "Hi who are you?"

Brice: "My name is Brice"

Nini Heart: "You're called Brice?"

Brice: "Yeah."

Nini Heart: "Where do you come from?"

Brice: "Why are you turning the camera? I'm from Montreal!"

Nini Heart: "No, you're French. What you say?"

Brice: ...

Nini Heart: So how do you feel about your scene?

Brice: Uh, it's the best scene ever.

Nini Heart: Why?

Brice: Uh, because we're awesome.

Airmaster: No.

Nini Heart: Airmaster, get out of here.

Brice: And like we can all speak two languages (french and english).

Nini Heart: Yeah. Okay, that's kind of cool.

Brice: So like everybody understands everybody.

Nini Heart: How strong do you feel your scene is as a whole?

Brice: I think our scene is really good because we meet often.

Nini Heart: Yup.

Brice: But uhhh we're not on Lord Knight's level and stuff like that.

Nini Heart: But like Lord Knight is like the only good player on the East Coast. Lord Knight and Zidane. Without them the East Coast is free.

Brice: Yeah, okay then. Maybe they're the best except for us.

Nini Heart: So you think we're the best on the East Coast? If we take Lord Knight and Zidane out.

Brice: Huh?

Nini Heart: If we take Lord Knight and Zidane out of the equation, we're the best?

Brice: Yeah, for sure.

Part 2: Kirbster

Nini Heart: So, Kirbster, how do you feel about our scene?

Kirbster: It's getting to be pretty good, actually.

Nini Heart: Getting to be pretty good?

Kirbster: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Um, we're going out to more majors and stuff.

Nini Heart: Yup.

Kirbster: Having regular meetups, 2-3 times per week.

Nini Heart: Do you feel the scene as a whole is strong? Or we just have a few good players?

Kirbster: I would say the level of skill, yeah it goes from one extreme to the other.

Nini Heart: Yeah.

Kirbster: But uh... more practice will help us.

Nini Heart: More practice will help us.

Kirbster: But, it's that there are a bunch of us who are at a certain level that not everyone else have reached.

Nini Heart: How do you think we could improve the strength of our scene?

Kirbster: Our scene? Play more, man!

Part 3: pochp

Nini Heart: Okay... I'm with...

Rhannmah: HELLO!

Nini Heart: Haha, okay. I'm with Pedro.

pochp: Yeah.

Nini Heart: He's he host of Montreal's scene which he's been organizing.

pochp: I'm not...

Nini Heart: Yes, you are. He's been organizing all the tournaments and the current ranbats are all thanks to him. So, Pedro how do you feel about your scene?

pochp: Uh, it's pretty awesome. Like, l'm usually jealous of other scenes, but it's like we're building our own. So it's awesome.

Nini Heart: Yeah, you've been doing a lot of work and you've been here since the beginning. Do you feel that your scene has improved?

pochp: Uh, yeah a lot. We used to be like really bad. But like now, we've been traveling a bit... you know, improving a lot, playing each other like every week so it's good. It's good.

Nini Heart: I heard you've been traveling a lot, I heard you went to ECT,

pochp: Yeah.

Nini Heart: T12, you, and Brice.

pochp: No, T11.

Nini Heart: T11.

pochp: T11.

Nini Heart: And the last tournament in Toronto...

pochp: Uh... yeah, yeah. There was a little tournament a few weeks ago.

Nini Heart: And I heard you're going to Summer Jam too.

pochp: Yeah, with you.

Nini Heart: Haha.

pochp: I'm driving though.

Nini Heart: You're pretty dedicated.

pochp: Yeah, we try to travel... try to like make interest, get better... You know, it's good motivation- to travel. It makes you want to get better. Then people at home get better because they have to keep up, so...

Part 4: BladeofJustice07

Nini Heart: Okay! I'm with BladeofJustice-o-7.

BladeofJustice07: What's up?

Nini Heart: The second face of Blazblue Montreal, he's been hosting tournaments since day one with Pedro. Blade, how do you feel about your scene?

BladeofJustice07: It's really good that the community is doing a lot of traveling... going to other tournaments, which is really good for the scene. [it gets] greater exposure for Montreal, and we get better exposure for Guilty Gear and Blazblue. Blazblue's been developing so... that was a second goal of mine. A lot of people are getting into Guilty Gear, and from that maybe we could see the resurrection of guilty gear again.

Nini Heart: Well, hopefully...

Part 5: Conclusion

Nini Heart: Okay we're at the end of the meetup day. Everyone's pretty hype, everyone's pretty happy. It was a fun tournament.

Brice: No.

Nini Heart: The best man won.

Brice: No! What the fuck?

Nini Heart: Tager was in grand finals! This is Montreal only! Tager in grand finals!

Brice: You only won because you play Makoto.

Nini Heart: This is kirbster- he got 4th place or 3rd place. Good shit. This is Blade- he got 4th place or 3rd place. Good shit too. Everyone looks really happy... especially Brice.

Brice: Except the real winner..

Nini Heart: Good job on getting second place!

Brice: Yo... yo...

Nini Heart: And this ends the day of the Montreal scene!

[END]

Thank you to everyone for reading! I hope all of you enjoyed the introduction to Montreal, Canada! Continue to support them and next week's GET EXPOSED will be Pacific Northwest! Look forward to it!

GET EXPOSED is Dustloop community project designed to introduce the internet to Blazblue communities from all over the world. If you and your community are interested in participating, please check out the thread here.

This week we bring you an interview from Okanagan, Canada.

Interviewer- Cakewasbanned
Interviewee- Crapton

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RiAWSRd7OIA

Cake: Hi my name is Steven and my dustloop tag is cake.

Crapton: Hi I'm Max, my tag is Crapton but I don't actually post on dustloop.

Cake: So how did the scene start Max?

Crapton: Well the scene originally started in BBCS1. There was 3 member me, you and DF2K however DF2K moved and when BBCS2 came out more people started reaching out to us and then our community started to grow. So now our meet-up usually consists of 4-5 people and there's right now about 7 people in the scene.

Cake: So how often do we meet?

Crapton: We usually meet once a week however due to you living in salmon arm you come once every 2 weeks and at the meets we have two TVs setup. We'll play for about 5-6 hours with small breaks in between to get some food. The meets are very casual but we do try to promote improvement and a little bit of competitive play.

Cake: So what would you say to new players if they wanted to join our scene?

Crapton: Either Jordan I believe his tag on dustloop is Riyo, he's really good for getting in contact with, same with Cake or even myself so if you ever just want to meet-up or have any questions contact one of us.

Cake: Right definitely just get in contact with either me or Max or pretty much anybody. We're all fairly friendly we won't bite your head off.

Crapton: Yeah it's good that way.

Cake: So Max where do the meets usually take place?

Crapton: The meets usually take place in Winfield just sort of in between Salmon Arm and Kelowna which is where all our members are sorta located.

Cake: Are we planning to go to any tournaments or anything like that in the future?

Crapton: Yes, fortunately we are going to the Northwest Majors November 11th we'll probably be having 4-5 members showing up which is going to be fairly great. We're definitely ready to test our skills against the rest of the scenes around.

Cake: Definitely.

Cake: So what kind of characters do people in our scene play?

Crapton: Fortunately our scene has a very diverse amount of characters, we have 1 Hazama player which is myself. You play Platinum. We have a Lambda, a Tager, a Makoto, Ragna and an Arakune.

Cake: Great.

Crapton: So very diverse we have a lot of zoners, semi-zoners/rushdown and some rushdown.

Cake: The thing with our scene is that most of the players like the majority other than me and you are fairly new to the game but we're all... I'd say we all have our individual strengths and weaknesses like we're all good at something but we all have stuff we can improve on.

Crapton: Definitely.

Cake: So our scene will definitely be strong within a few months time.

Crapton: Yeah.

Cake: Just the more events we go to and stuff like that.

Crapton: North Westerns!

Cake: Max what would you say to players who are worried about joining the scene because they don't think they're good enough or that they'll just get steam rolled?

Crapton: They definitely shouldn't worry at all I mean we have a variety of players with varying skill levels and play styles. If they come they're definitely going to learn and improve off of a variety of people so I definitely encourage anybody who is interested to come.

Cake: Right, offline play is a really really great way to learn and even if you don't think you're progressing playing at home by all means stop by and play offline because it really is an underestima... underestimated may... underestimated way to improve at the game like not many realize how big of a deal it is.

Crapton: Yeah.

Cake: In closing thanks very much for watching this by all means if you think you would benefit by playing offline contact me or Max and I hope we see you around.

Crapton: See ya.

That is all for now. Next week is Montreal, Canada. Look forward to it.

Tsubaki Dustloop Community Combo Video

By Guest, in Home,

The members of the Tsubaki Dustloop community, as well as other members here on Dustloop, have collaborated and made this Tsubaki combo video!

This project was started by BatousaiJ. He did all of the recording and performed all of the combos in the video but the combos themselves came from the people in the community. From everyone that participated, we hope that you enjoy watching it!

From BatousaiJ:

"My fourth video and this one is a community video which I made working with many other folks from Dustloop.

Definitely a tough project to work on considering various other factors I had to mull over that I didn't need to worry about before but hopefully it turned out alright.

The song is "Inevitable Struggle" from the album "The Legend of Heroes Zero no Kiseki Super Arrange Version".

Credits list at the end.

Special thanks to pktazn for being her usual delightful self and hosting this video. Still waiting on that free trip and foot massage, though.

Thanks for watching!"

"Meet Your Mod" Episode 21: furix

By Guest, in Home,

This Week: furix

Why did you choose that particular handle, is there a story or reference you'd like to explain?
I've had this handle for... Maybe 11 or 12 years now? I forget, but I remember I was signing up for GameFAQs, and I was like 13 years old. I ended up typing a bunch of letters at random... then erasing a few here and there... Until I eventually came up with this. I looked at it, thought it sounded neat, and just rolled with it. I've been using it for a long time, but I often like to sign up with other handles in other forums and for tournaments.

What is your background with fighting games...Did you start with BB or are your OG like SFII?
I have been playing fighting games since I was like 5 years old. I started with Street Fighter 2... or maybe Art of Fighting, I don't remember. But back then there was NeoGeo machines at every corner store. So I used to spend days and weeks just playing everything there. I remember we used to have little tournaments for like 50 cents, or "Soda matches" where the loser has to buy a soda and some chips.

What competitive scene are you involved with? (Ranbats, Arcades, XBL, PSN, Reload Online etc.) Would you elaborate the benefits of this particular scene?
Well... I've been sort of withdrawn from the scene lately. I mostly play in the South Texas region, but I've been traveling a lot less than usual. Now days I just play on PSN a lot(and mainly just SSF4AE). I still do play a lot of fighters, I sorta play everything(I am the misc. fighters mod after all!). The scene down here seems to just play nothing but AE and MvC3, I probably should pay more visits to Austin.

How strong do you feel your nation is as a whole, what is the next step to strengthening it?
The nation as a whole? I will take this question as a whole as in every fighter combined. I think that fighting games are coming back to a main stream now thanks to games like Street Fighter 4 and Marvel vs Capcom 3. Thanks to that, a lot of new players have been coming up, and the competition seems to be getting better. I feel like we are slowly but surely catching up to the Japanese players. Netplay seems to have been a great help for improving the competition. There actually is a lot to be learned from netplaying, it can really give someone a lot of perspective in match ups.

Which player(s) give you the most trouble and why?
As in general playstyle? or specific players? If it's general playstyle... I'd say people with strong rush down and good spacing. I get too used to fighting players that just press buttons, so I can easily punish them... So, when I finally come across someone who knows their spacing and can punish all my sillyness, that's when I start having a hard time. I just have too many bad habits that are easy to see if you study my matches.

What has been the most helpful tool while growing stronger in BB?
I don't play BB too seriously, but I'll just mention fighters in general. For me the most helpful tool is communication. I like to find friends or other people to talk with and learn stuff about match ups and my characters, that alone is enough for me to advance and get stronger once I encounter those match ups again. Really, just having a friend or people that can help you out and point out your mistakes/what you are doing good can be of great help.

Is there anything you'd like to share regarding your respective character or Dustloop in general?
I HATE GETTING INSTANT KILLED VIA 3 KNOCK DOWNS ; =; :arg: (Not that it happens very often anymore)

Q: What is Skullgirls?
A: Is a new 2D fighting game based on an original IP, it's key members include the artist Alex Ahad (renowned artist who's had works featured in Lava Punch, Scott Pilgrim, and even in Udon's compilation books), Mike "Z" Zaimont (long time tournament competitor), Christina Vee (long time voice actress who is directing the character vocals and even voices a character herself), and Michiru Yamane (known for her compositions for the Castlevania series).

Q: Wow sounds impressive, but what gameplay features can I expect?
A: Skullgirls features a range of features and modes that will be both familiar and new even to long time fighting vets, the first of which will become apparent when you select you character...or characters! Skullgirls utilizes a "ratio" system in which either player can have teams of up to 3 characters at their command, however the more characters you have the weak each individual one is. BUT don't let this discourage you, for fighting as a team allows you access to Delayed Hyper Combos, Assist Actions, and Tag-ins/outs so that you can recover health. So all sizes have their benefits and negatives.

Speaking of Assist Actions each character will have 3 to choose from, the first 2 are predefined, however the third one is COMPLETELY customizable! Yes, you are allowed to put in your very own input to be executed when that character is called! The only limitations are it can't be a Super nor can it involve a jump.

Skullgirls also features an "Infinite Detection" system, if you are doing a sequence of moves that will result in a continuous loop, the hit sparks on your opponent will alter, signaling them of an infinite. At this time they can press any button and cause a "burst" like animation and break free. There is also an "Unblockable Detection" system in place as well, in many other tag fighters it is common to have unblockable setups due the ability to call an assist to attack high while you go low, but in this game if two simultaneous attacks connect within an inhuman time frame to react you will block both attacks with a successful guard. But be warned as this point is very brief and the opponent can still input just enough time in between the attacks to land a hit.

Lastly let's talks about some of the smaller but still great things like the fact 360 motions will be easier to input as it will read attempts and not force you to say jump if you aren't inputting it as fast as you would need to in other games. You can also gain meter by whiffing attacks however you can not retreat and whiff to build meter, you must be advancing forward, also note that once you have 1 stock you can no longer do this. Oh an don't worry about bad netplay experience as Skullgirls will use the GGPO netcode!

Q: Wow, that alot to process, but what about characters? How many are there and what can I expect?
A: Right now the final, FINAL roster is unknown as the game will support download content and more characters will be on their way! However there will be around 8 characters on release, and while the initial cast is all female you can set your insecurities aside as there will be male character included down the line. At the time of this publication 4 characters have been announced:
Filia, your typical rush down character she has a "Dragon Punch", a projectile like move, and many other moves that keep her up close and pressuring her opponent.
Cerebella, the grappler dreams are made of, with a throw for nearly ever situation and great ways of moving about both on the ground and in the air, she'll have you seeing stars.
Peacock, the zoner who's 40% projectiles, 40% references, and 20% who knows... She may be annoying from afar but you can't help but chuckle at her many sight gags.
Parasoul a trap playstyle suits this royal debutant well as she sets up timed explosions all over the screen with the occasional assistance from one of her loyal soldiers.

Q: When can I get my hands on it?
A: At the moment there is no set release date or price, the game is merely advertised as coming in "2011". It will be available as a digital release for Playstation Network and Xbox Live Arcade.

Q: Where can I learn more?
A: Of course keep your eyes on the Skullgirls section here on Dustloop, but you can also browse over at the game's official website and the developer's site as well. Some of the team members actually frequent the forums every now and then; Mike Z of course, Ravidrath, Urichinan, and EU03.

If you have any further questions or general inquires that weren't answered above you can either ask them in the comments below or in the FAQ thread where you can also view other User questions!

Blazblue CS2 SBO 2011 Qualifier Videos

By Guest, in Home,

SBO is coming up soon! Over the months, there have been qualifiers taking place all over Japan, and recently in the US, to give players a chance to compete in this tournament.

In a nutshell, the process to making it to SBO in Japan:

Local Qualifier (Red ticket) > Block Final (Blue Ticket) > SBO!

The number of local qualifiers in an area varies from about three in less populated areas to about ten in the more populated areas. This gives anyone who wants a shot at SBO a chance to qualify and you can win multiple local qualifiers in different blocks. An example is Konan, who lost in another block but was still able to qualify in another. Other players have done this as well.

There is a block final after each local qualifier, where all the winners from each local qualifier compete for an actual spot in SBO. So, if there were three local qualifiers there will be three people competing against each other for the SBO spot in the block final.

If you are interested in seeing who made it to SBO 2011 please check out this article!

Without further ado, here are the matches sorted by block! When you click on the link, it will take you to a playlist with all the matches for that event except for a few cases.
[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]
Please note that a majority of the qualifiers (local and block finals) were not recorded and there is no way to get footage of it if they did not record and upload it. Players listed are the known the players who participated in the local and block final. If the player is unknown, the character is listed in their place.

None of the player’s names in block E-1 were provided so instead there is a character count for that block.

Many thanks to the people who took the time to record and then upload it to Nico and to Jourdal for helping out in uploading these videos to YT!
