  1. impressions so far: jesus fuck this game looks ten times better than 1080p videos can display. its really amazing to look at. the game feel is a lot "better" than previous GGs, pressing buttons feels more... modern? i think its because the input windows are a bit more lenient (not sf4 levels tho). it might just be the better graphics and higher clarity too. vas i like so ar: ky, sol, may, faust bad vas: venom AXL HAS A BRITISH ACCENT

  5. yup, spending 660+ dollars for this game. like, im gonna use my ps4 and probably the stick too, but you know, its not like im using that stuff for anything besides xrd until early 2015 when all of the ps4 releases im interested actually come out.
  6. demos are just not beneficial for the developer btw. like at all. they waste time and generally result in lower sales. this is why there are very few demos for games these days, which is why i assume sony is up to it and arcsys gave us sol/ky arcade mode demo. even if its a full arcade moe against the entire cast, they STILL have to pull data. the tgs demo is most likely an obfuscated version of the full game with mostly everything intact because this makes sense when no one can touch the console/game disc and you want to save dev time. literally the only case where its not more work is if the tgs demo is just the arcade data and nothing else, has code/assets related to anything else, and then they just lock out picking characters. and even then, in the one case that its not more work, which is possible, but very unlikely imo, its not beneficial for arcsys to make more gameplay stuff useable because the better your demo is, the worse it is for game sales.
  7. theyd still have to remove characters for space then, they'r enot going to release the entire cast. also just beacuse they made it so you press a button to do that doesnt mean there isnt a bunch of data under the hood that people could pull. the demo could have just shortcutted but still have all of the character voices/story mode dialogue/fmvs etc which they would have to remove for space reasons as well.

They'd have to cut any content in the game not intended to be datamined to reduce filesize and make sure nothing gets datamined/ is playable (if you disable the characters but leave them in the game they take up a shitload of room and you can get the files and then get all the frame data a month before release on top of that, also getting stuff like quotes against someone like Leo if hes playable but unnaounced etc) . Also any bugs that might be outstanding with new content/optimization. Say Zato's shadow might actually cuase brief slowdown because tweaks havent been made yet etc, which is fine if its in a demo when you can control how its used or you disable the character or dont show it on screen if showing the game off etc. Once its on peoples PS4s then they can do whatever they want with it. What they did was what they woud have had to do ANYWAY, they just chose to specifically remove a certain level of content because they felt it would be best for sales/showing off/security/whatever/even malice if you want. But it's fucking bullshit to say "it wouldnt be any work". if arcsys dumps a demo with all of the content still intact just unselectable, then maybe you can mak that claim, but thats very atypical of a demo and sony would hate them for A) wasting peoples precious harddrive space B) wasting terrabytes of unecessary bandwidth i wrote this really fast btw sorry about that
  9. keep in mind arcsys has a really small dev team and shipping out a really barebones demo means they have to spend way less resources on developing it which absolutely subtracts from development time. i imagine sony is the reason the demo exists, not arcsys. also the demo is there to show off the games graphics at 1080p too. this is why i assume its ps4 only.
  10. One other thing to consider: Tier lists measure character power differences at the highest level of skill. This means that at lower levels of play, skill barriers and caps are extremely important toward power. For example, Potemkin and Ky are relatively straightforward, easy to grasp characters with few situations in which they require lots of nuance. Someone like Zato not only has to know how to do what he wants to do (difficult inputs), he also has to make more complex decisions because he has more variables to consider at any one given time. This means that characters like Potemkin and Ky will be much better at lower levels of play as a lesser skilled player can do a higher % of things FAB or Ain could do, as opposed to the same level of player picking up Zato, they would be able to do a smaller % of things Ogawa can do. This is commonly why bad players complain about stuff like fireballs and grapplers. qualities of characters that possess lower skill caps. So if you play a bunch of Pots online and get wrecked or whatever, the Potemkin players could be as good as you, perhaps even worse players, and still win because of this. Anyway my general impressions of the game are: any character can win, really. You might not want to pick the bottom tier, but we live in AMERICA land of the FREE so I'll probably end up getting top 4 a lot by playing like a fucking moron like I did with Tager back in the day. So don't worry too much about your character's power unless you plan on winning evo or something I guess.

  13. potemkin is bad but its not like he seems unplayably bad and to be fair, fab has like, the most games played out of any top player by a large margin, i think he has like.. 5000? thats about ten DAYS of his life that hes played xrd. just played. dude put in hella time lol. thats some mmo level shit.

  15. every named character with a full model we've seen has been playable. whats good about the new thing is basically any character they rig for story purposes just needs animation work (which is stll a good chunk left) but they can throw money at the story mode that will turn into a character later on down the road, and this would be the absolutely best way to squeeze a buck out of the game: if its a rigged dude with a voice actor and a full model, you've paid for 1/4th of the development costs of a character down the road, so any new characters in gameplay would be cheaper to arcsys if we've seen them. so if you see a character animate in a cutscene: congrats, its in arcsys monetary interest to make that dude a character over like, zappa or whatever. whoops.

  17. heat knuckl is an unblockable strike and not a throw, always has been. same with atomic collider, this is why you can blitz shield heat knuckle. in bbct you could actually put someone into an inescapable atomic collider if they barrier blocked 2C even though grabs/blockstun etc would make for escapable throws. you can do the same thing with FDB reflect in the xx series. if you time your heat knuckle when they're in blockstun in the air because of FDB reflect, they just get hit by heat knuckle with zero ways of escaping. not easy to set up but yeah.
  18. I wonder if slide head (shockwave, not melee) can be as well btw in corner pot can do meaty slidehead rc 6hs 2s 6k 6k x whatever heat knuckle i believe which is handy as hell imo.

  20. the reason i say that is they should be content ready by now and fixing errors. the people doing key animation would need some work to do. i assume they outsource some of the animation as well
  21. one other thing to mention: considering sin and elphelt look to be 100% complete (sans tweaking), that means that other characters are probably in development with the time remaining before launch if arcsys has a good content pipeline. we could see launch day dlc characters (groan all you want) with the amount of time they have to make new models, implement, tweak etc. because its likely that the people who made the models have nothing to do right now otherwise. this is even more likely considering that they'll probably have to submit in about a month and a half, and should be using that art time for -something-. i can't imagine they need the art team to make the story mode atthis point.
  22. its cool theyve got another new character, but as much as i was against complaining about the roster, i'd really appreciate like 2 more returning people to go with any more new characters at this point tbh
