you can reuse animations, you can't resuse sprites (mostly, you can still reuse animation refs). if they decide to go into another gen and upgrade the graphics again, they might need to udpate everything, but they can use a lot of the stuff as a base. -

Yeah, I'm definitely being pessimistic here, but things can always change, Pot got a lot of new tools and we don't know what all of them do, but it looks pretty bad from impressions so far is all. If he can start pumping out 50% damage off anti-throw stuff, that'll be enough in my book. -

The big problem with BS is he can't translate it into a safejump mixup afterwards since his combo enders from the opponent in the air are either heat knuckle or icpm (which is like, gadget finger levels of knockdown advantage lol) -

I think the biggest thing is before Potemkin had hammerfall FRC which was essentially unbeatable unles you were really looking out for it. Now when Potemkin wants to keep repeating pressure instead of getting a guaranteed situation off the blockstun of hammerfall FRC, the other person just enters a mixup situation where both parties are closer to netural. whereas before pot had a free attack after the frc. loinsg hammerfall FRC was a pretty big hit, I think. losing a safe, guaranteed blockstring was pretty integral to potemkin. also hammerfall frc meant he could follow through with hammerfall as an anti-jump/mash threat at way less of a risk. I still want to see how he turns out in a few more weeks, there's probably stuff we really don't know, and I'm making a pretty early judgement imo, but seeing how FAB has issues even when outplaying people convincingly, that doesn't bode well. -

you can yrc ICPM, you just have to do it ASAP. it makes you fly across the screen in an arc, about 3/4ths of the distance, but you're still potemkin in the air and this game has #R air throws which are amazing anti airs. -

it combos off 2s and is special cancelable, as well as moving potemkin forward. -

Yes. He lost 2s vacuum so there's a chance he could to AC levels of damage off 5k without meter. this is hellla important because it puts a consistent threat on the other player for avoiding pot buster. fd seems to knock pot way too far away after a safejump in too, which is obnoxious. -

pot just does less damage off anything remotely consistent. most of the characters are doing similar damage to what they did before. pots damage got nerfed, unless some sort of 6k combo comes out that changes things. -

It's very easy to make a well designed grappler. Here's the first thing you do: Don't make Tager when you design around anti-frustration. They made a character that is intentionally frustrating lol I really hope that Potemkin is just what happens when they erred on the side of caution, and he gets a reasonable buff. He doen't need a lot imo, and he's like, probably Kanji tier which is playable enough for me. -

This is the fault of the developers, not the archtype. People design shitty, binary grapplers instead of ones that are more consistent and have more controlled defensive options. People hate grapplers because they remove a lot of options or win of RPS situations (which feels more like luck than skill). The more you minimize the impact of RPS and create less situations where a grappler can mash out of your blockstrings (which is why I think 720s are shitty design), the less frustrating grapplers are to play. Grapplers are still fundamentally the characters that take the most damage and win off reads (again, feels like winning through luck instead of skill), so they'll always be more frustrating than other archtypes, but there's ways to curtail this without subtracting from the grappler player's experience. Potemkin not having a 720 is one of the best parts of potemkin, they can afford to give him stuff that they can't give tager because tager can always win off two dicerolls which is terrible design. Even the threat of winning of diceroll feels AWFUL. I don't care if devs adhere to anti-frustration based design (which is very good for game health and long term competitive play). I just hate it when they don't do it right because they don't understand WHY things are frustrating. The nerfs are affecting the symptom, not the cause. -

Don't get me wrong, he's still probably gonna be like 3-7/4-6 with most of the cast (guessing 3-7 vs bedman and zato only, tho), which is pretty close to viable. From the looks of things, I'd really like the heat knocking down in front of him change back, along with like, just a hair more damage on PB so it consistently kills in 4 of them (right now it takes 5 it seems). -

Watched some of the archive. Potemkin looks terrible. FAB was generally making about as many good reads as the Sol player he fought and got completely destroyed. Once Potemkin gets in, he really doesn't stay in, and PB does way less damage lol. Unless 6k turns out to be some sort of god tier move, not seeing Potemkin being anything but bottom tier. -
this is typically true of most games, but this game resembles #r so much that figuring out characters that will trash pot (like zato), is further along in the game's lifecycle than it normally would be. grapplers have time advantage in games people know nothing about. a LOT of things carry over into this game.

Yep, like I said, the worst version of Pot Buster yet. It really needs to just do more damage. Pot buster should do anywhere between 1/4th to 5/16ths of a total lifebar. 4 pot busters should kill a character. it currently looks like it takes like 5 or 6. im hoping someone figures out something involving 6k mid screen because he really needs scary damage since he doesn't have that many other tools. Potemkin looks like he has lower than average damage lol.
-
potemkin buster just seems straight up bad in this game, its the worst version hes ever had lol
-
And Mori isn't designing Potemkin, so... At least wait to judge, there's not enough info to determine if Potemkin is bad.

that is unquestionably #R levels of invincibility on that bdc i managed to click on it before it went private. slayer looks gross lol. this games gonna be fun. -
hammerfall frc is way better safe repeatable pressure than yrc but as it stands he has enough tools to be consistent. at the very worst he'll be like, kanji bad. also, to address the above. most characters lost their godlike frcs. it's not something very potemkin specific. I'm just looking o see how 6k works out for him. losing his overhead was pretty bad too, because his overhead was safe on block in terms of what he could do with it. that said, dust yrc command throw could be realllllllllllllly scary. he def has potential to be good. i think he'll get junked on by bedman and eddie, as per usual. but he also lost two of his biggest problem child matchups of dizzy and testament.
-
the reason yrc is so good for pot is the fact that he has blind 50/50 mixups, something most characters do not have. so getting in for 25% meter off any random situation turning into a pure 50/50 is pretty fucking good from like 1/4th screen neutral. it's a very useful gimmick plus he builds meter like crazy lol my main issue is more what his oki situation is like. pb seems to lead into safejump, i guess, which is ok, but he doesn't do monster damage off it, OR get a hard kd on heat, which is pretty bad. either one of those things would be amazing, but he has neither.

The old RC wasnt as good because FRCs and then force breaks existed, which made those the most effecient use of meter. Guessing YRCs will become that, but less egregious (since a lot of what you get off a YRC seems to not be guaranteed, but instead a potential mixup). Hopefully the YRC system makes RCs better. It seems like all stuff limited by meter has more varied appliance.
