He did not say GGX +XX were not canon he went with the word gaiden meaning that they were kinda like side stories compared to the happenings of GG 1 and 2.
For some reason it seems that a lot of people saw the use of gaiden meaning that GGX and GGXX take place in some alternate universe after GG and this universe doesn't matter because the GG2 one is the real.

No official word from Capcom yet, but the site is apparently a good source.
They are still pushing for a winter 2008 release for the arcade version. I wouldn't expect a japanese console release until around early spring or summer.
