Visual references for combos is always a good idea. Its one of the few things that really lacks from character discussions 90% of the time. Being able to read the combo and being able to SEE the combo have completely different effects on learning. So feel free to add links to whichever combos you feel necessary :3 I would try and brainstorm some combo ideas, but I have a damn 360 so I don't have easy access to the game:v:

I guess I never realized Hammer has never had repeat proration. Strange...But not too surprising since in CS2, you had to go way out of your way to ever get 2 in a combo. Really good to note though. Also because I'm really picky about changes to frame data and stuff, I'm gonna go through everything and note changes to his (dis)advantage, hitstun, blockstun, shifts in startup/active/recovery frames so if people want it, I could post that up when I'm done

Yeah in CS1, Valk had probably the best backdash in the game. Had invincibility like Tager's, but recovered way faster as it was nearly impossible to punish it. In CS2/EX, its about the same as Ragna's it feels like. Kinda invincible, but doesn't do you a lot of good most of the time:v:

Well even though it says it took 3 Recovery Frames and made them Active Frames, the overall total of Frames are still the same meaning its still +2 at worst. You have 28 Frames of blockstun that is applied on the FIRST Active Frame that makes contact, the rest of them are then just extra Recovery Frames. So 5D has 50 Total Frames so it breaks down like this: You hit D and then 23 Frames later, the first Active Frame(Frame 24) connects. Frame 24 will now start the 28 Frames of Blockstun while the other 6 Active Frames are turned into Recovery Frames leaving you with 26 Recovery Frames. So you get 28 Frames of Blockstun - 26 Recovery Frames and you're left at +2 :3 Now knowing that 5D has 7 Active Frames is a BIG deal. Means the move can be up to +8 if it hits on the last Frame and because of Magnetism, we'll be hitting meaty 5D all the time. This is one of the big reasons Tager can feel really sticky now compared to old versions, his large window of Active Frames on 5D means you have a lot more Frames to connect while they're being pulled to you and then they're right back where you want them, and now at huge advantage. I'm also curious if the fact that Hammer doesn't have Repeat Proration is an error or not. Cause if it isn't, that could make FCs a bit more potent in the corner with the ability to do 6C>BSledge>Hammer and then probably link that into 5C>ASledge>Hammer. I would test it but I don't have the game:v: TL:DR, 5D is still +2. I've confirmed this through playing matches multiple times.

It's still an option to beat bursts like that. Its really hard to do that on pretty much anything else mainly because the release is too slow to use in that fashion

OFT. Real talk 6A is a great conditioning tool to have. If you get people used to dealing with you neutral teching all the time, quick getup>6A will throw them off so fucking bad its great. Not to mention that since the hitbox is so massive, you can OS a clash depending on what you're going after. It can help against Hakumen players who like to get cute with footsies and try to outspace Valk with things like j.C and 4C. Force a clash and OS a 5C and if they don't react in time, they get CH for it. Its fun as hell to do that to Ragna and Jin players too :3

Full charged BSledge does 1500 DMG compared to 1100 but I believe the proration values are the same.

His defensive options are a bit lacking, but he can hold his own depending on the matchup. Arakune has a nightmare trying to keep Valk still or from hitting buttons, I mash out 2A on Arakune constantly and its really unrewarding for Arakune to go out of his way to bait it sometimes. But some characters give him a harder time, primarily Makoto and Bang who have 5 Frame jabs and a lot of blockstun on their normals. But the changes in Extend to Barrier help him a lot inherently.

Tager would have to hit 2D on one of the last 4 Active Frames to make it able to combo non CH. Assuming the Frama Data is the same as CS2, at point blank its +1 on hit(+3 crouching) and with 10 Active Frames, you'd need to hit it on the 7th or later Active Frame to make it +7 on hit in which case if they're close enough, you could link into 5A>3C etc. OR if you hit them crouching, you can link into 5A>5C>6A etc which would be MUCH more reliable since by the end of 2D's Active Frames, a LOT of the Magnetic pull is already gone and you push them further away the later you hit it. This is all assuming the Data is the same so someone should test it as I have no access to Extend at the moment.

Uhhh...Yeah meant Frame Data sorry, my iphone decided to be a douchebag and correct "drame" to drama when I thought it corrected to "frame" But I more or less needed to know what his normals are in terms of blockstun. Attack Levels mainly, startup, unique blockstun/hitstun properties, frame advantage shit like that. Its pretty damn important to learning how to deal with the character.

Oh god I haven't updated this in over a month...Fucking school is taking up all my free time at home right now. Luckily after Monday I'm done for the quarter so I'll get this updated over the week.

Yeah saying fuck human form is extremely ignorant to the overall abilities of the character. If Valk didn't have amazing Human normals, his defensive options would literally be nothing. He wouldn't be able to play footsies against characters like Litchi and Ragna and he wouldn't be able to deal with pressure from characters like Bang and Noel. Playing against Bang is hard enough cause Nails will effectively shut down Wolf mode but if we didn't have the option to do anything about pressure resets or call out his mixups with 6A or out footsie him with 5C, it would literally be impossible to beat Bang. So you can't call a MAJOR part of the characters design a useless feature. Cut the arrogant act and try to present arguments in a civil way. I don't care if its "criticism" or "calling it like it is", the arrogant attitude is 100% unnecessary to make your point.
