  1. I just had a thought about parking. I can't tell from looking at any of the maps but is parking there like parking at De Anza? By that I mean that if you don't have a semester permit or park in the visitor sections, can you go and just buy a day permit for like $2 and park wherever? I would imagine that there would be something like that unless the school just gives all students parking permits and don't expect you to buy one seperately.
  2. If possible could you provide a map of the campus?
  3. Hes got a point. It would be best to charge the fee at the door and just consider it a venue fee and just make the ranbat "for fun" and give the prize money away after at dinner or under the table before everyone leaves. You certainly can't wait till after the thing is done to get the entry fees or else you could have a case of people running like hell in which case it would look much more suspicious on our part.
  4. I kinda see the Carl v Tager match as more of a 55-45 honestly. The way I see it is that while Carl has many many options to deal with Tager's tactics, he has a couple flaws. First being that I truly think Carl has somewhat limited approach options against a defensive Tager. He can't turtle behind Nirvana cause Tager can just beat the living hell out of the doll and leave Carl in a really messed up defensive situation. If Tager decides to play it cool and calm, then Carl's ability to get in on Tager is a huge risk cause one FC combo could take well up to half his health and AC with its little bit of invul frames makes it near impossible to jump in on him. Carl could try and play footsies but thats even riskier given Tager's 360s/720. His new projectile doesn't even help as much as it does with Carl's other matches since you just ASledge right through it and odds are Tager will be safe. I tend to play this matchup like I'm playing against Tao with the only difference being that Tao has many more ways of getting close and pressure. But I still keep the match in Carl's favor due to his high pressure game. While Tager has the ability to keep back and force Carl to act, if Carl finds that one mistake to get in on Tager it becomes a pain in the ass to get out again. Thats my 2 cents, critique it how you see fit. Off topic: Am I the only one who wishes I could 360/720 the damn Doll??? I think that would be funny as hell to just leave Carl standing there like an idiot while Tager is doing GETB on Nirvana on the other side of the screen.
  5. Even though I played like utter shit, I still had fun seeing just how many people there were in norcal. Too bad we were stuck out in the main area instead of in the snack bar room like last time. Thats just bad luck to have a big ranbat and being stuck out in the main area with everyone else playing 3rd Strike and SFIV...that was just too damn crowded. Congrats to Goryus, Dabbit and Willie for placing. Although would it kill you to give others a chance to win??? To those who are going, see everyone in a week for GG! To those who aren't going, see you all in 2 weeks for 2v2s!
  6. While I know I'm not obligated, I do know that people are nice and therefore should be treated nicely so I don't mind. What about snacks? I could spring for a few bags of chips if I know what kind to get. Too bad this is an indoor event or else we could just turn this into a GG ranbat/BBQ! And if you didn't already get it, I can bring my PS2 and GGAC+ to this. I may have a surge protector laying around but I will get back to you on that.
  7. While I can't bring a TV, I can bring a PS2 and GGAC if needed. I'm amazed my PS2 is still working though, I've been running that thing hard for over 6 years I think. But I know it works and I will have GGAC by then. Whether its AC+ or not is a different story. Does it really matter which one? I still haven't bought it yet but I'm gonna go find it either tomorrow or saturday. Side question for Tao: Assuming nothing comes up, I WILL be going to the ranbat. I was thinking of bringing a few cases of water for people to share. Unless someone else was already planning on bringing that then I'll bring something else. But if I do bring that, Should I shoot for conveinence with bottled water or should I shoot for Eco-Friendly and bring jugs of water and paper cups??? Frankly, I don't mind either way I will just go with whatever everyone else wants.
  8. Oh god I haven't seen your Lambda yet. If we get the chance before the ranbat starts, I wanna play it to see how much I need to sweat. Of course if I'm as lucky as the 2v2 ranbat 2 weeks ago, Lambda will only be a problem if its Goryus...I've beaten every other Lambda easily.

  9. I wish I did. I don't even have a stick for any of my consoles. I play CT on pad at home and I play CT on stick at my friend's house. Pad cramps my hand though. Looks like I'm gonna be saving up some money for a new stick...
  10. Hell yes I'll be there! Probably gonna use Tager though. I've been experimenting with others though. My Ragna is somewhat better than normal and my Bang is well, something I guess...I'm working on another charcter too and I'm hoping it'll be good enough by the next ranbat. Gonna make it a real surprise

  11. Yeah the site said $18 for used, $20 for new. I like to be sure my shit works when I buy it so I'm probably gonna buy new but that means I'm gonna have actually go to the damn store to buy it cause apperently you can't buy a new copy online, only a used one...doesn't make any damn sense! So I'll be hunting that down today and I should be playing it tonight hopefully. Wish I had the money to buy a damn stick for my PS2 though, I hate playing fighting games other than Super Smash on pad
  12. Hey you going to the ranbat on saturday?

  13. Really? which Gamestop? Is it one of the ones near SVGL? Cause I looked it up on their site and they had the closest ones having the game being out near MGL. I won't mind going there for it since I have to go that way anyway but still if they have it at the one near De Anza or by San Tomas, I'd be much better off.
  14. Yeah I know of I think 3 Jin players. There is Ginseng who played Jin in CT and there are 2 other guys who I assume are on dustloop but I'm not sure. They both have glasses and have been there quite a bit recently. One of them was there today: White sweater, short and he uses Noel and Jin. Hes been there almost as much as me and yet my friend refuses to ask for help learning. He sounds like me when it comes to GG...How ironic
  15. Ok I know I'll be there on saturday, odds are one of my friends will go to and he actually played CT but he won't play CS for whatever reason! I think its cause he doesn't have a way to practice on his own because he is still learning the new changes a little. If I could get someone to help him learn Jin or Hakumen I'm sure he'd play in later ranbats. Of course he goes pretty randomly though...Although he usually goes on Wednesdays for arcade mania and usually Tuesdays too. So if anyone wants to teach him he does know the basics pretty well. I would teach him, but I'm horrible with everyone except Tager.
  16. Well yes I am all for the support but sadly anxiety issues still get to me sometimes. I suppose an easy way would be to try and actually talk to everyone at things like arcade mania and ranbats at SVGL...I usually need a good nudge or 2 though. I know I look like a loner, but thats just a defence mechanism of mine. And as for GG, well I'm gonna start practicing a little but everyday starting tonight. I just hope my learning skills in BB can translate at least somewhat into GG. I seriously learned a BnB for Ragna and Jin in CT by just seeing it and replicating it on my first try. I can tell the learning curve is very steep though so I will need a little time to get ready. So if I feel ready, I'll go to the next one. And as I've stated before, if I go, I will offer rides to 2 people and can bring any necessary setups. People will have to enlighten me though... EDIT: Also, would it be advised that I go and find a copy of AC? The only version of the game I have is Reload on my 360 so I dunno how much difference there is aside from Order Sol I think. Should I go and find AC? What system was it on anyway???
  17. I guess Bold would be a good thing honestly too bad shyness beats boldness 2:1 for me. Would I reallt be Zeus or would I just be Chipp guy after? I have a vague impression I'll be Chipp guy... And as much as I love the modesty, I wish I was being modest too...Don't get me wrong, I could probably learn it fairly quickly given that I'm used to the general style of it now but its been over a year and I think I only played it for 2 weeks back then...So much time is needed. And I need to get a stick for my 360.
  18. Wow everyone is so supportive. Well hell let me my BnBs with a couple characters and then I'll go. You'd be amazed how far someone can get by just mashing alpha blade and beta blade with chipp...I'm a little ashamed honestly. I hate mashing in general so the fact I pretty much sat and mashed that stuff the whole time bugs me now. But still, I need to learn some things first before I enter. I at least need the basics...I seriously don't even have a grasp of that. So in due time, I will enter my horrible Chipp into the mix of GG players here.
  19. Oh no trust me, you have no idea how bad I am at GG. I literally know NOTHING about all the charcters except Chipp. I have no concept of what works with what and how approach the game in general cause well I hardly played it and then I remember finding Dustloop to look up how to get better and then I got scared cause I looked at one combo page and just thoughT "WHAT DOES THAT EVEN SAY?!" and stopped playing for the most part. I only got back into the gaming scene cause of BB. So eh gimme a month to figure what I'm doing and I'll probably join in on some of these.
  20. Actually I'm fairly certain thats just the flow of the attack. Asledge is faster so the follow up looks like it comes out faster. There is no start up lag for Asledge and the blockstun is less too.
  21. Really? cause I could've sworn i've seen a few times where the follow up beat out the poke. The reaction must've been too late then. Its a pretty ballsy thing to throw out there in my opinion so I guess if you aren't expecting it, you won't react fast enough.
  22. I suppose if I got back into GG, in about a month I would be willing to go to some of these Ranbats and bring some necessary setups. I have GG on my 360 but I do have a PS2 also if you need that. Also I could give rides within reasonable means. My Mustang has a small tank so long distances are not friendly to me. But I live in Cupertino and I could offer rides to any others who live nearby. That includes any ranbats at SVGL too for BBCS but for now, I can only offer rides for BBCS. Give me some time to get to a noobish level of good in GG and then I'll most likely join these ranbats too. I don't care what anybody says, my GG skills are the worst...
  23. Right I guess I forgot about the speed and the cancel capabilities of Tager's 360B. But even then, I dunno if doing that would be the best idea after Bsledge cause that is a pretty widely known tactic of Tager players. But I guess its actually a good idea cause then it gets Bang away from you if he breaks the throw and if he doesn't break it, you get a 3.9k combo off of it so I suppose its better than just Bsledge and eating shit. Now I have a question, Sometimes I do a 236A after Blsledge to get the followup hit and sometimes it mixes up and you can get free CH combo. But would Bang be able to IB->5A before the follow up would connect? I'd assume yes
  24. Well if you're gonna try and react to his IB with a grab, you would have to do 360A cause 360B and his normal throws don't have invulnerable frames so Bang's 5A would stuff it every time and he would get a free 3-4k combo. Now if you're really ballsy, you could try and and bait his IB->5A with something like Bsledge and then whip out a 720. But don't even try unless you're certain Bang is going to try it. Even then, I think if Bang does the IB, I think Tager would have to RC off of Bsledge in order to react soon enough to counter the 5A. Not sure how good IBing Bsledge actually is so you may not even need the RC but I wouldn't be surprised if you did though given the blockstun reduction of an IB coupled with the speed of Bang's 5A.
  25. Couldn't you just go ask whoever works at Gamestop if they're going to do a midnight release??? Its not like they can lie about it so it would save you possibility of losing at the guessing game... I'll be there on the 13th. I'll try to keep my friends from going since they aren't the kind to stand around a bunch of hardcore gamers for multiple hours without wanting to crack a joke or 2...I'm going to apologize in advance to anyone who may get offended during future tournaments.
