If it wasn't clear from what I said earlier: This is both a dirty lie you're telling yourself and a reason tournaments die.
You're not being tactical or logical, because you are not risking life or limb. I definitely agree that you should duck fights you can't win if you will be killed or maimed for losing... but these aren't fights, that is the wrong analogy. This is a game, and you are ducking out of it because you're afraid you won't win. This is a ridiculous way to play games, because the nature of games is that you will never get better without losing. If enough people duck out of the game, no one can play the game. And in case you're wondering, I mean tournaments specifically, not merely the fighting games in question. Tournaments are what keep the scene alive, and people who think like that are what keep tournaments dead.
So you can claim whatever intellectual high ground you want to claim, but ultimately the words fall flat in the face of people who know better.
So anyway, 5v5 stuff: Can I be on the NorCal team or what? Sure, I'm from a bit norther-cal than the rest of you, but I figure I can play GG pretty well.
