Don't lie.

Oh, by the way: As a matter of policy, I'm not doing any money matches on the first day. Getting off a plane seems to kick my A-Game's ass. SJ: Sorry, I like hellmonkey in that too.
-
Aw damn. Apparently people wanna put real money up against you. Okay. FT10 $30 like those other guys. Heh
-
3/5 $15-20-ish? (If this is GG, scale that back for BB)
-
That's some big talk there. It's okay, BB players, you'll understand when you're older.
-
Weird like a fox.
-
He doesn't mean $-5 He means 5 dollar bills with frowny faces drawn on them.
-
Since you take forever to respond: FT5, $5
-
Still waitin' on that money match.

Shit, I dunno. Your call, dude.

There have been a lot of rumors floating around about me, such that I appear to be known alternately as -A pretty cool guy -A really hot chick -A six-year-old chessmaster, or -The Judeo-Christian conception of Satan I'd like to set the record straight. I'm actually a pigeon, very carefully trained to peck algorithmically determined responses on a keyboard and use a specially-designed stick to play fighting games. This may be difficult to believe, but I think the fine fellows in washington can corroborate this.

I play DAT HAZAMA. Don't really take the game too seriously. I'll play you to five for a dollar. Also: Er, no more GG money? Anyone taking... Melty Blood matches?
-
Ah, yeah, you probably have to delay it slightly or you'll get that. It's too bad you can't IFJ with slashback.

The fighting game general stuff doesn't always match up with what's in common usage around these parts, but otherwise good!

Yeah, that's right.

More training mode shenanigans: 6H (RC) j.P, 2K. This mixup could be incredibly ambiguous, as both the j.P and the 2K can potentially come out fast enough to blockstring, meaning that it's extremely fast. Of course, for 50% meter, it might not be worth it, but it's a high-low trick that's very ambiguous. It also helps that both moves have really tiny animations, making them hard to see. Combo from j.P: j.P, land, 5/2K, etc. Combo from 2K: Er, what you normally do off 2K? Execution note: You have to RC 6H as soon as it connects (This doesn't work if the 6H is meaty) and push P almost immediately for the P to connect. You can hitconfirm by holding 2 and rolling P~K extremely quickly, and the 2K will connect in time to combo (And thus be fairly difficult to poke out of) if the j.P whiffs. Note that if the j.P hits, you have to time the 2K differently because of hitstop, so to completely hitconfirm the j.P, you have to hit [2]P~K-K (Doubletap the K) and immediately go into your combo (S or 2D). This is super tough, but the bright side is, if you do it right, even if they block right, you don't lose your blockstring.
-
Not sure where else to put this but: 1FJ TK Kokuugeki: By inputting 632147K+->]S[, you can get kokuugeki to come out a few frames sooner than normal, as the 1fJ puts you at the minimum height. Note that because of the negative edge involved, this is a bitch to do in any useful way, but if you get it right, you'll see no dust come up from your jump, and the kokuugeki should hit as low to the ground as possible. Yeah, probably useless. But... I thought it was cool.
-
No, you're just canceling your jump startup with FD. That is, you can't jump while in blockstun, but you can FD while in jump startup, and the game resolves that as canceling your jump startup, but just putting you in the air.

Well yeah. Axl gets some nice damage if he can set it up right (More than 25% meter doesn't really help you get more damage, it just lets you combo from midscreen), but the setups for that kinda damage are the less solid combo setups. TKB in the corner or CH FB or Kokuu FRC in the corner will net you a nice 230-330 (Character matters a lot. Without guardbar, optimal combos only do 300-ish on Dizzy, Millia, that sort of people. Venom ones cap out around 278 (Kokuugeki combo, 272 for bomber) without guardbar. Keep in mind that this is ideal conditions, in the corner, starting from the top of the lifebar, etc.), but you're capping around 150-230 range from anything you're going to get a lot without guardbar (Rensen FRC, throw especially). I'm not saying damage isn't a factor, but it's not a big enough problem for Venom that it makes the matchup even. Yes, Axl does better damage than Venom in a combovid/guardbar/YOU JUST GOT YOMI'D situation. But the fact of the matter is that TKB is a risky mixup (It simply will not work in a lot of situations, and ones where it will are sketchy as fuck, since you can poke out of it in any situation where it's not a meaty) and Mad Struggle is a viable overhead that Venoms use a lot in actual matches and can genuinely make blocking ambiguous. Aside from that, Venom's undeniable ability to beat Axl out at more ranges than not, and furthermore, his ability to keep Axl locked down and guessing for long strings that build guardbar make this match very difficult. It is considered to be Axl's worst matchup, clocking in at 6-4, because of these factors. As a general rule, guilty gear isn't the kind of game where favorable matchups are just completely stacked, so obviously Axl has some tools and it's not always going to look one-sided. Having to block in certain situations doesn't automatically mean the matchup isn't in venom's favor, and it's just speaking to how well-balanced the game is that there are ways for Axl to get venom on the run. But by that logic, every matchup in the game would be even (Maybe not May-Anji), which is simply not true. The fact of the matter is that a very high-level Venom is more likely to win this match than a very high-level Axl. Venom's a harder character to learn, too. Your mileage may vary, etc.
