  1. Well, if anything was going to be unescapable, it'd probably be a rashou setup, since it's unblockable both on the air and in the ground (Which means you can't just hold up, since, unlike other command throws, just being in the air doesn't make you not get hit), but I'm pretty sure there's no situation where a reversal 1fJ won't get out of its way (Although a lot of setups, such as the one Stark likes, make for very weird reversal timings out of blockstun.)
  2. A good Axl will try to 1FJ chickenblock (just hold FD) if he knows he's not getting out any other way (In which case 6H will just be blocked and you're back to square 1 as far as I know.) What I actually suggest is learning how to react to the jump and try to airthrow. This isn't a venom-specific thing, but generally, someone who's fast about doing that is really hard to fight, since it means Axl has to get out some other way, which is risky as hell.
  3. Generally to hit-confirm means to, well, confirm that you hit. It's generally used to refer to a situation in which it may be difficult to be sure if you've hit or been blocked in time to decide what to do next in the string. People will often talk about, for example, adding a jab to a string in order to make it easier to hitconfirm (Because that way they have a little extra time to notice that they've hit.) This is actually more relevant to more capcom-like games, as oftentimes in Guilty Gear, the string that you need to do if you hit is the same as the one you need to do if you're blocked for quite a bit longer. However, in certain situations, like fishing for specific counterhits, it's good to work up a better hitconfirm reflex for situations that happen often, so you won't drop your combos because you were unsure. While I guess you could talk about confirming a cleanhit, you're generally going to already be doing a combo, so the only way that could be necessary is if you're not very good at your combo and are messing it up. And even then, I can't imagine you can do much differently by realizing that your sidewinder didn't cleanhit, unless you're going to like... RC it and desperately try to salvage the combo...
  4. I don't think you know what hitconfirm means...
  5. Yeah, basically, keep pressure, keep balls flying around, and don't come in too much from the air if you're not covered (by hit/blockstun or knockdown or balls or something.) When you get pressure, keep it. Venom is probably Axl's worst matchup if you can keep on top of him.
  6. That mixup happens too often in matches, dude. Well, I guess very few people actually successfully FD the fake Rashou into AA stuff, but still. I'd rather fill it with clashing than blockstrings/mixup sequences.
  7. I've also been digging A Plague Upon Your Hissing (The Mars Volta) lately, but maybe we've had enough TMV combovids.
  8. Technically, I don't think Axl would have time to do anything in the air after RC falling, since it puts him on the ground in some ludicrously low number of frames regardless of height.
  9. But then again, I think it'd be more interesting if something else happened (Maybe to do with eddie clashing with the falling move. Could he do that with j.D?)
  10. You may be able to do that with j.6P directly from the FRC (Rather than landing and doing 5P)
  11. Heh, kinda like that, but I think with some (F)RCing, that exchange could be made longer, and possibly go the other way!
  12. Lulz, is that absurdly famous, or just your personal favorite?
  13. And that's fine? I'm not saying WE SHALL HAVE NO MORE COMBOS AND STOP NOW, BRIEF MORTALS. I'm expressing my personal opinion. And with the combo you just mentioned, I think I've been proven wrong, since it's definitely cool for doing over 300 damage with no guardbar (granted, it's full meter, but whatever, combovid.) I can't either. But I mean come on. Tokio Hotel? Really? There's gotta be some kinda limit to how lame the song can be, and I'm taking some initiative and saying certain things just don't make it to a vote. This still includes J-Rock/Pop. Yeah, let's definitely use that.
  14. 2H FRC --> Throw is seldom valid on max stagger (You'd have to like, hit him within throw range, FRC immediately, and throw, which I think won't work because of pushback unless it's a CH, which raises further objections), and prior Axl CMVs have made me somewhat scorn non-max-(or at least 3)-stagger-reliant combos. Stark, your combo seems a little too close to standard stuff to be combovid material. Honestly, I think we have enough combos, unless someone has something absurdly cool that we haven't thought of (either in this or in prior vids). What we need to do is get someone editing, get combos recorded, and pick a damn song already (Further note: I retain veto power for the music, barring like... 4/5ths majority overrule)
  15. I'll stop you right now to say there's technically no such thing. You can make it very, very hard, but it'll never be completely unavoidable.
  16. Wrote another paragraph on running versus not running. This stuff wins me matches, so check it out.
  17. Hey, is anyone opposed to 65daysofstatic for music? I was thinking of "Retreat! Retreat!" or "Mean Low Water"
  18. Note: I proposed that combo already and DID do a cooler ending (Granted, it didn't include the 2H FRC, but meh). See: 50+ hit potemkin combo.
  19. Heh, it's always good to see new input, but yeah, most #R era stuff is gone, and Slash even moreso. Do you play AC?
  20. To be fair, that IS fairly unburstable. But it's also hella techable. Tell your friend he should watch some Ogawa or Niga or Shounen if he wants to see broek shit (Or tell him I'll money match him with Axl and pay out if I use the scary infinite). Besides, infinites are weak sauce. Zappa has an infinite and he's what, B tier at best?
  21. Woah, you're definitely right.
  22. A few short notes on previous comments: -Axl players probably shouldn't be relying on getting 63214S (cross-up move) against an EXE beast. It's really slow. -While what DoomieJ says is definitely true, don't get too confident about that collapse. There's always good, old-fashioned blocking to fall back on (But yeah, that's pretty much it as far as options at that point).
  23. Well, not ANYthing... but a lot, yeah. Also laugh at the Axl player still trying to get that lame string off.
  24. I may have posted this before, but I'm realizing more and more how good it is: Fucking learn to hitconfirm into benten. This is something I'm working on right now, and when I've gotten it right in matches, it does wonders for my game. I'm serious. With this, you can turn those random 5Ps or 2Ps that hit on the ground, those 3Ps and f.Ses that stop a run but don't counterhit, and those obnoxious f.Ses in the middle of a string into damage or knockdown. Benten will oftentimes combo when Rensen won't, and it will make you much more dangerous to learn how to make it work to your advantage.
