  1. Flipflops are banned from NCI.
  2. Flipflops are now banned from NCI. GOOD JOB, DACID.
  3. Oh yeah forgot to mention this: shoutouts to Dacidbro for dressing stylishly and then ruining it with FLIPFLOPS.
  4. Get out of this thread and go back to being at home and sad that Pozer lost at SBO quals. Nigga.
  5. Not understanding game mechanics makes for a great thread.
  6. Why would I close this thread?
  7. Running a tournament isn't that hard in terms of making a bracket and running it (I taught Aginor how to do it one day, although running a 64-man bracket was a bit stressful for both of us since neither of us had run one of that size). Finding a venue, using DEM SOCIAL SKILLS (which most of the community lacks) to talk with potential venue owners, etc, is the hardest part. Communication is key, and that's where NorCal falters. Anyways, my vision for NCI is pretty much keep the local ranbats (GG, BB, MB) at the bay area and make them once a month providing we can find a venue. Unfortunately, I cannot find a venue for those unless it's one in Sacramento (doubt bay area would come to those anyways); in that regard, the bay area crew is responsible for finding a reliable venue to hold monthly ranbats. If I lived there, I would look for one, but it's out of my grasp for the time being. As far as the real NCI (like the one we just had), I think a semi-annual tournament will probably be best. Years ago, we had CUT (California Unification Tournament), which ended up being a big success. Unfortunately, plans for a second one kind of fell through. I think we were shooting for a semi-annual thing there as well, but it never happened. CUT2 didn't happen until last year. If we make NCI a semi-annual thing, then the next one would be around February. We have a lot of time to set things up, but feedback is appreciated.
  8. Pretty much this. Need more feedback than just "let Scott and Sean do their thing". We need more details than that if we're going to make NCI work. Nah, John has a really good point. Sometimes you just gotta give DAT REAL TALK or people won't listen. Even when you do and people get upset, usually nothing comes from it because people complain and then continue to do nothing, thus proving the point. NorCal has always had this problem. The GG scene has always had this problem and ultimately died because of it. BB scene is too new to go through something like that but will probably go through the same motions anyways. NorCal scene is too much talking, not enough doing. I'm willing to go the extra mile and make sure the NorCal GG/BB/MB scene grows when John leaves, but I can't help a scene not willing to help itself. I tried getting the GG scene growing in NorCal years ago, but that ended horribly. By the time the game grew in NorCal, it was already dead in the US and I had moved on. That's just an example, but you should get the point. People need to talk and communicate, rather than just leave it in the hands of one or two people and then go about their business.

  10. What were you expecting? No one has had good experiences at SacAnime.
  11. This is what I'm going for.
  12. Fuck SacAnime. I wish it'd get hit by a meteor made of AIDS and radioactive zombies.
  13. It's something to think about, but raising the entry fee also discourages people from entering multiple games (which is bad of course).
  14. I strongly disagree with this statement. HERE COMES DAREDEVIL
  15. I'm not actually sure who would get hit on more by gay guys: me or Kyle.
  16. Kyle, there are lots of bars in Sacramento. I'll even take you to Faces... the local gay bar. Yes homo.
  17. Yeah I'm not interested in having the event at SJSU at all.
  18. HOPE PEOPLE LIKE PLAYING OUTSIDE
  19. I worry about October because of SCR. I don't want a situation in which SoCal scene has to choose between the two.
  20. Well I was going to do a shoutout post, but talking about the next NCI is more important. So in short, shoutouts to everyone that came to the event. Special shoutouts to all my SoCal friends since I haven't seen you in so long (and met some new ones too like Kyle, Sam, and Mr. Camaro!). Anyways, Coopa and I have already been in talks about doing another NCI. I've been looking for a venue in the Sacramento area and may have found one, but I need to talk to the owner. The location seems fine, but I got to talk to the owner first. Number one priority is finding a new venue, and once we can find one, we can start looking at a date. We should have support from IPW and other sponsors like last time. In terms of an estimated date, things are a bit iffy. September is too early to do another one, and there is SoCal Regionals at the end of October. November might be good but NorCal Regionals may be a problem if they add BBCS to the roster. Right now, November looks to be the most likely month for the next NCI, but obviously nothing is finalized until we find a new venue.
  21. Barring no kind of emergency or whatever, I can come with my PS3 and monitor set up.
