  1. No, no, no, I don't mean TCL > DUMP actually comboing, I mean doing it as some kind of ghetto meaty. I do agree, it seems that you generally want to do something like stuff > 2C > 6D/3D or stuff > 3C > 22C xx 5A/5B > air combo. But sometimes it really is just easy to confirm normals into rekka, but the problem with that is that it almost puts you back at neutral. Most of the time after rekkas, you just see the Az player forward dashing x N, so I was wondering if DUMP (22C or 623C version) could serve as some kind of alternative, if frame data allows it. It would be really ideal if DUMP was some kind of hybrid-projectile like 2C and had active frames even during Azrael's recovery. Case in point, he whiffs 5B and eats CH for it

  4. Is it possible to DUMP after rekkas? It seems like it would be reasonable to do outside of the corner for oki, assuming it has really fast recovery.

  6. I think that combo is probably too long to be optimal, honestly. Usually, you just have the choice to blast them with high P2 moves at the start of the combo and then end with more damage by using meter (either using crush trigger or BHS) in order to go for damage, or doing something that consumes and re-applies the same weakpoint for more advantageous neutral game, post-oki (which his is practically non-existent outside of "ZA TERRAA" or lol teleport dash). If no weak-points are applied, you can go for one or both depending on your starter. To address why you would re-apply the same weakpoint, it doesn't necessarily need to be the same one, it really just comes down to how you want to condition your opponent. Stay patriotic, niggas.
  7. I think he's talking about j.D, which is a normal and not a TK-able air special. The only air normal he has that really alters his momentum is j.2C. Regardless, I don't think either option is the best idea to meaty with. Also Kagetsu is gomikuzu garbage. At least he was a garbage Hazama player. There are a few players at chariot that you probably shouldn't pay attention to. Himajin is pretty beastly, imo, though some of Kubo's vids showed really good use of Azrael's mobility options and spacing.
  8. Yeah, at first, I'm pretty sure all of us didn't think stance dash was a big deal, then we see now that the dash is cancellable into follow-ups or even just another dash. It looks like a decent mid-range spacing tool, with it's notable flaw being that the only attacks you can (immediately) follow up with are stance attacks, because they have moderately slow start-up outside of flash kick.

Also, I realize now after watching more videos, my list of Azrael's "high-priority" normals needs to be longer, i.e. all of his normals are honestly pretty stupid. Real question: do you think it would be a good idea during match-point round to do something like non-5A/2A starter > OD > scud > oh my god THE DAMAGE

  12. Disadvantage where? In neutral? Azrael's neutral game is really strong, imo, just because his attacks have a fuckton of priority, namely 6A, 6B, 5C, 2C, j.B, and j.2C. Buster and both guard-point moves are also really dangerous. If you mean in pressure, then that's to be determined. We'd need frame data before we could delve into the specifics of it. I honestly think high-mobility characters will mess him up. Valk, Haz, Tao, Bang, and Nu all seem like they'd give AZ a hard time.

And as far as Litchi vs Azrael goes, when he's not "in there" it's not necessarily a bad thing. The only caveat to that is that you have to be on-point when it comes to punishing approaches. No Litchi is going to play the spacing game with you forever, because that's not where she truly shines, especially not in this match-up because you can just bait whiffs by backdashing. She wants to knock you down and force you into the mix-up gauntlet. Again, backdash could be good in this situation but only if you don't do it predictably, because any good player will be looking for it. Even knowing staff Litchi has itsuu and DP and big normals, staff-less Litchi is always more dangerous, imo.

  15. I guess this answers our questions about being able to combo from non-weakpoint Valiant/Hornet. Just links with A moves. The 6A > IAD j.A/j.C parts remind me of AC Slayer.
  16. I really want to see the P1/P2 values for Scud. If the P2 is good enough as well as the hitstun (it has like 3-second crumple in OD), it could be used for hella sick confirms a la Hazama (i.e. 1 or 2 normals > super > follow-up combo).

  19. Most of his D moves on counter-hit produce a highly similar (if not exactly the same) effect that they would if a weakpoint was applied. Unfortunately, the only moves where I haven't seen this happen are Valiant and Hornet, but that's only because they produce a unique effect whenever they trigger weakpoints.
  20. Slow start-up, vertical hitbox, and super armor that's good enough to absorb a DP (or at least Ragna's): Gimmicky, but certainly viable.

  23. I think the OP for the match-up thread should be someone who is actually interested or concerned with the match-up. Not everyone lives in a place where they fight (offline) against every character. As for online, even then, I imagine you guys have people you regularly play with and they collectively might play every character but the issue still remains. That way, the OP will actually have even more of a reason to bother with editing their first post.
