Since I liked the idea of this thread, I figure I should jump into the fray a bit here. This video isn't super recent, but I just wanted to use it to pick your brain, since I have very little experience with Izayoi personally. I just want to see what it looks like from the Izayoi's perspective a little bit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42aVocva_9I&feature=youtu.be#t=48m19s

Yeah you're right about that, I'm guilty of this myself, I only ever really check on the Noel boards unless I'm directed otherwise. If SKD tries it in the Izayoi forum, I'll keep an eye on it to see how things go, and take note of how he handles it. If it's successful I'll add one to the Noel boards as well.

That's what I was thinking as well. Though I think the concept might benefit from starting out in a general area, since it would be good to gauge how well it would do. Once the idea becomes more accepted by the userbase, then we could spread it around the character subforums, and make it more focused on single characters and matchups.

I support this idea. Even if we don't want to go into it 100% by replacing the mega threads, we could do something like a "Video of the week" or something like that for each character, and we break it down. I dunno, either way, I like the idea of having a more focused approach to videos and how they're presented, instead of just listing them and saying "HERE YOU GO!"

My comparison to twitter was just because people prefer to use that to gather information instead of Dustloop. I'm fully aware of how it's a completely different format. And again, having a Gen thread in a character board is fine, as long as it's restricted to just that thread. Information will not be lost, since the solid info will be posted in the info threads. Back when NVG was getting 1,000 posts per day, there would be a time where gameplay discussion happened in the thread, whenever I saw something like that, I would inform the user who posted it to take it to one of the gameplay related threads. At that point, the users who frequented the Noel boards knew better, and always posted info in the correct thread. Whenever a new user would ask a question in the Gen thread, either myself, or one of the regulars would redirect that user to the appropriate thread. That's why when NVG was still active, the Noel Board really policed itself. The only time it got out of hand was when a detractor (Usually another Dustloop mod) decided to come in and purposefully troll the thread.

The thing is, the people who dropped off after the General Threads got removed were still a part of the community, the Gen Threads gave them a reason to come here, and they had a comfortable place to come and chat with like-minded people who play the game. Due to that, since they got comfortable with the people in their respective board, they were also much more comfortable asking for help, and knew where to go to get that help. I get so many messages on Twitter and Facebook about Noel stuff, asking for advice, for coaching, for opinions. But everything I tell them is stuff I have posted, or could have posted on Dustloop. When I inform them that I made a thread on the topic, or other such things, they respond with "Oh, I don't go to Dustloop, That place is full of big heads and jerks", or stuff like "I didn't think anyone still posted on Dustloop" then I gotta tell them, that they're right, no one posts anymore. The thing is, the Gen Threads not only showed people that the boards were indeed active, but they also channeled all of the off topic tomfoolery to one thread per board, no one had to sift through pages of bullshit to find info, because we had info threads, the Gen Threads were there to help build a community, and friendships. New users who might not be super good at being social would see people posting about silly things, or "waifu talk" and be put at ease, thus being more likely to post. On the other side of that coin, you could say that super serious users might not like that, but then they could just stay away from the general threads. It's not like we've had an influx of top players start posting after we got rid of General Threads, if anything, they stopped, because people started using twitter for everything instead. Which is like one GIANT General Thread by the way.

I feel like Dustloop just isn't very inviting to new users. When we have a rule against "posting stupid shit", it makes new people hesitate to post anything. Plus, there's the fact that some mods wont hesitate to be assholes or trolls themselves. Hell, I've had problems with how the Staff handled things before, but this is the kind of community that will endlessly harass you for saying anything. So I usually keep quiet, and as a result, post much MUCH less. I'm a moderator, I have been for around 6 years, there's no reason why I should be afraid to speak up about a problem I'm having, and yet I am, because I feel like nothing will change at best, and at worst I'll just receive harassment.

Those sound awful. So far they're just nerfed versions of her CPEX combos, but now just confirming into them is character specific, since j.C > j.D is awful and doesn't work on everyone. Hopefully, there are more loktests, because this one is just not for us.

Sadly, you hit the nail on the head there. Noel's risk in general is way too high for her payoff. As far as her pokes getting blocked, that's going to happen as well, her 6B is an overhead, and it's pretty slow, so it's easy to react to, and her 5D only combos from 6B or a Counter Hit 5B or 5C. You probably want to start with her grab combos, they are consistent, and also a good place to start with forming a mixup plan with Noel.

I knew that was why they changed the input. I'm still salty about it. At least you came bearing buffs Lith, I was getting a little tired of only hearing the negative things. So anyway, if what was said about her 6D animation now being her old j.4D post-landing animation, I think that might be really effective as a neutral tool, combined with the invuln, the hitbox on j.4D was pretty huge. 4D having projectile invuln again is nice, 6C comboing on standing is a little weird to me, I really hope that's not a huge part of her BnBs.

6C(2) no longer wall sticks.

Speaking of 2D, can I win/beat out low attacks even if my opponent cancels into one during a block string ---> Impossible... seems unlikely that foot invincibility is 1 frame. Gatling Routes from 6B = nothing in particular Double Fenrir = Haven't tested it out yet Haida SMP = 22B no longer has SMP 22C no longer has SMP does 2B > 2B > 6A > jJC(3) > jD > 2D work? = jD doesn't work (hasn't changed?) does 6A > hJC(3) > j2C > j4D > 2D work? = no j4D can you do 5C > 2D > Bullet Rain? You can. Can you do... Grab > AH? From my experience, you can't. Sureipunir's performance / ability = Bloom Trigger > Fenrir > Toor > something that looks like Canon , damage 2040 can you pick up from close range Chamber or Bloom Trigger? Haven't tested it out yet Noel J4D is deleted / gone. 2D is the trailer's small bounce-looking move. looks like 6D is now what was J4D's later half motion / animation, however, it has been altered. was able to do 2B>6A>6C>6D>c4D>A optic barrel 5C5D did not connect. Might have gotten slower? The trailer's J2D, from whatever height, it knocks down the opponent From 3C, you can now instant ukemi / tech、perhaps D gatlings can be added Wanted Strong-Points ・the lower portion of 5B's hitbox ・post-Revolver Blast followup situations ・Optic Barrel's attack range Weak points ・2D's foot invuln from frame 1 is gone ・returns from CR(?) ・J4D is gone ・JD is the same as CP's JD? and the answer is…against characters where midscreen JD is hard to input / connect, if you go from an anti-air, it looks like you can only use Revolver Blast.... seriously? Speaking of 6D, it is now CR 6B... wasn't a low attack. Translations credited to 7thFonon

Super-jump backwards.

You're good, no worries.

22B oki puts your opponent in a position where they can not roll, and they can not no-tech. It also sets up drive oki. The best things to do are one of these: Run in 2B - catches no-tech into a full combo, also puts you in the perfect range to Grab/Grab bait mixup if they decide to tech and your 2B whiffs. 5D > d.5A - Both will whiff if your opponent techs, allowing you to go into d.6B/d.6D mixup. This can be mashed out of, and jumped out of, but I'll get into that later. This will also catch rolls into a full combo, and on some characters, like Rachel and Tager, it will also catch no-techs. 5D > d.6A - the 5D will whiff, but the d.6A will hit meaty, so it will catch people mashing on wakeup, and it will beat jumping on wakeup. You can use this to go into mixup as well if they block, it's just a little less effective.

Yes, doing both of those things should help you considerably. Anti Air: 6A > sj.2C > j.4D > d.5C > d.6A > d.5C > 22BC~66 > 6C(2) > 2D > d.5A > d.6B > d.5C > d.6B > d.236D/Fenrir Jab Punish: 5A > 5B > 6A > sj.2C > j.4D > d.5C > d.6A > d.5C > d.5B > d.236D Normal Punish: 5B > 6A combo listed above Heavy Punish: CH 5C > 214A > 5B > 5C > sj.2C > j.4D > d.5C > d.6A > d.5C > 22BC~66 > 66C > 5D > d.6A > d.5B > d.236D on a standing opponent. All combos end in Noel's oki. Anything ending in d.236D anywhere on screen, and 22(B) in the corner goes into an oki situation. Corner combo depends on what starter you used. Whiff punishment strictly depends on what was whiffed. You'll find a huge list of combos in the OP of this thread. You'll find a combo for any given situation you'll find yourself in.

You've come to the right place.

Just do both. Better yet, come to casuals today.

Go for it, plenty of people here use Nico.

It's probably not the best idea. If it's early in the combo you can most likely extend it using d.6C > d.2D > d.5C > 22BC, but for simplicity sake, it's always a safe bet to use d.5C > d.6A > d.5C > 22BC.
