1. Alright, translated page one (of eight) of the terminology guide. The terminology guide is found on pages 132-139 and accompanies the Teach Me, Ms. Litchi! features. I'll update it as I finish more, and then organize it in English alphabetical order when it's complete. [BlayzBloo: Happy Trigger logo] Terminology Guide Here you will find explanations for important keywords that appear in this title, as well as new information that was not mentioned in this installment. This should hopefully help give you a better understanding of BlazBlue. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ■ Nox Nyctores (アークエネミー, Arch Enemy): Unlike Ars Armagus, these grimoires were intended to be used as armaments from the very start, and were tempered as a set of weapons to oppose the Black Beast. They are also known as "causality weapons". An advanced tempering technique was needed to forge them, and a total of ten weapons were planned. Eventually nine weapons were completed in the midst of the Dark War. The conflict ended before the tenth weapon, "Murakumo", could be finished. What's more, some were lost during combat. Having a high degree of aptitude in the use of Armagus is essential, meaning they can't be wielded by just anyone. More importantly, there's also a significant risk that they will inflict a heavy burden upon their owner's psyche. ※ Nox Nyctores List Name Owner No.01 Gigant: Take-Mikazuchi Unknown No.02 Mucro Algesco: Yukianesa Jin Kisaragi No.03 Arcus Diabolus: Bolverk Noel Vermilion No.04 Deus Machina: Nirvana Carl Clover No.05 Mucro Somnio: Musashi Jubei No.06 Interfectum Malus: Ookami Hakumen No.07 Arma Reboare: Muchourin ― No.08 Geminus Anguium: Ouroboros Hazama No.09 Phoenix: ??? (name unknown) ― No.10 Lux Sanctus: Murakumo Nu (true form) ■ Azure Grimoire (蒼の魔道書, Ao no Madousho, Blue Grimoire): The so-called "strongest" grimoire, also known as the "original codex". Despite being called a grimoire, its form is not that of a book, but rather a high-density mass of concentrated seithr similar to the Black Beast. It has no fixed form and is currently imitating Ragna's right arm. Because it requires life force to function, Ragna absorbs life from other people. ■ Arakune (アラクネ): A seeker of magic that inhabits the sewers of Kagutsuchi. Its main source of energy is life force, and a bounty has been placed on it due to it occasionally revealing itself in public to eat (absorb) people. It has tried to absorb the life force of the Kaka clan several times, but every attempt has ended in failure. Arakune was once Kokonoe's personal mentor and a genius alchemist of Sector Seven. He often clashed with Kokonoe, who had her own way of thinking, but they kept each other in check and maintained a delicate balance. However, he defied Kokonoe's teachings and set out in the pursuit of truth, until, drawing too close to the reality behind the Black Beast, his body took on its current form. His memories are now vague. He reacts to the names Litchi and Kokonoe, but cannot remember them. His body is connected to another world, and infested with countless insects. ■ The Dark War (暗黒大戦, Ankoku Taisen, Great Dark War): The war between mankind and the Black Beast. Because it was the first time that the "Ars Magus" were used as weapons, it also became known as the "First War of Magic". ■ The Ikaruga Civil War (イカルガ内戦, Ikaruga Naisen) ■ Hero of Ikaruga (イカルガの英雄, Ikaruga no Eiyuu) ■ Ibukido (イブキド) ■ Valkenhayn (ヴァルケンハイン) ■ Ada Clover (エイダ=クローバー) ■ Edgar Vermillion (エドガー=ヴァーミリオン) ■ Demon Cells (鬼の細胞, Oni no Saibou) ■ Hierarchical City (階層都市, Kaisou Toshi) ■ Kaka Clan (カカ族, Kaka Zoku) ■ Kaka Clan Chief (カカ族の長, Kaka Zoku no Osa) ■ Kagutsuchi (カグツチ) ※ City List City Name City Name 1st Hierarchical City "Ookoto" Izumo 11th Hierarchical City "Shinatsu" 2nd Hierarchical City "Iwatsuchi" Region 12th Hierarchical City "Kukunochi" 3rd Hierarchical City "Iwasu" 13th Hierarchical City "Kagutsuchi" 4th Hierarchical City "Naobi" 14th Hierarchical City "Nozuchi" Ikaruga 5th Hierarchical City "Ibukido" 15th Hierarchical City "Torifune" Federation 6th Hierarchical City "Yabiko" 16th Hierarchical City "Oogetsu" 7th Hierarchical City "Kazamotsu" 17th Hierarchical City "Yamatsumi" 8th Hierarchical City "Wadatsumi" 18th Hierarchical City "Kanayama" 9th Hierarchical City "Akitsu" 19th Hierarchical City "Kanayama" 10th Hierarchical City "Akitsu" 20th Hierarchical City "Haniyatsu" 21st Hierarchical City "Haniyatsu" 22nd Hierarchical City "Mizuha" 23rd Hierarchical City "Wakumusubi" ■ Carl Clover (カルル=クローバー) ■ Gii (ギィ) ■ The Boundary (境界, Kyoukai) ■ Claire Vermillion (クレア=ヴァーミリオン) ■ The Black Beast (黒き獣, Kuroki Kemono): Materializing without so much as a warning, this monster bared its fangs at the world. Its body was in reality a super-dense concentration of seithr. Whether it was a single creature or several is still unclear, but according to one report, "cloaked in darkness it instantly devoured everything," and so became known as the "Black Beast." Mankind tried to repel the Black Beast, but despite throwing everything they had at it, all attempts ended in failure. It continued waging war against humanity for ten years and consumed more than half of the world's population, until finally the "Six Heroes" launched their assault and destroyed it. ■ Beast Genes (獣遺伝子, Kemono Idenshi): Genes extracted from the corpse of the Black Beast that was defeated during the First War of Magic. Through repeated hereditary improvements, it was determined that they could be used to birth an artificial human. ■ Orbis Librarius Norma (虚空情報管理機関, Kokuu Jouhou Kanri Kikan, Void Space Cue Management Sector) ■ Kokonoe (ココノエ) ■ Saya (サヤ) ■ Sankishin (三輝神, Three Shining Gods) ■ Gates of Sheol (シェオルの門, Sheol no Mon) ■ Bang Shishigami (シシガミ=バング, Shishigami Bang) ■ Phenomenon Intervention (事象干渉, Jishou Kanshou) ■ Sister (シスター) ■ Duodecim (十二宗家, Juuni Souke, Twelve Originators) ■ Jubei (獣兵衛, Juubei) ■ Military Academy (士官学校, Shikan Gakkou) ■ Ars Magus (術式, Jutsushiki, Skill Formula) ■ Ars Armagus (術式兵装, Jutsushiki Heisou, Skill Formula Armaments) ■ Jin Kisaragi (ジン=キサラギ) ■ Novus Orbis Librarium (世界虚空情報統制機構, Sekai Kokuu Jouhou Tousei Kikou, New World Void Space Cue Administration Bureau) ■ Sector Seven (第七機関, Dainana Kikan) ■ Taokaka (タオカカ) ■ Takamagahara (タカマガハラ) ■ Kaka Kittens (チビカカ, Chibikaka) ■ Tsubaki Yayoi (ツバキ=ヤヨイ) ■ Tager (テイガー) ■ Terumi (Yuuki Terumi) (テルミ(ユウキ=テルミ)) ■ Vigilante (咎追い, Togaoi, Criminal Hunter) ■ Nine (ナイン) ■ Nago (ナゴ) ■ ν-13 (Nu) (ν‐13‐(ニュー)) ■ Noel Vermillion (ノエル=ヴァーミリオン) ■ Hakumen (ハクメン) ■ Hazama (ハザマ) ■ The Edge (挟間, Hazama) ■ Bang's Subordinates (バングの部下, Bang no Bui) ■ Makoto Nanaya (マコト=ナナヤ) ■ Seithr (魔素, Masou, Magic Element) ■ Grimoire (Code) (魔道書(コード), Madousho (Code)) ■ Imperator Librarius (帝(みかど), Mikado) ■ Murakumo Unit (ムラクモユニット) ■ Artificial Causality Phenomenon Weapons (模倣事象兵器, Mohou Jishou Heiki) ■ Litchi Faye-Ling (ライチ=フェイ=リン) ■ Lao Jiu (ラオチュウ) ■ Ragna the Bloodedge (ラグナ=ザ=ブラッドエッジ) ■ Linhua (リンファ) ■ Rachel Alucard (レイチェル=アルカード) ■ Relius Clover (レリウス=クローバー) ■ The Six Heroes (六英雄, Roku Eiyuu)
2. Inflexible as a bow. Rigid as an arrow. That sort of thing. And the part about the Yayoi and Kisaragi bloodlines is that they place the utmost importance on preserving the purity of their bloodlines. The implication being that the Yayoi family only marries within the Yayoi family, making it impossible for her to pursue a relationship with Jin.
3. Haha, you translated almost the exact same amount of it that I did. Here's my own (incomplete) translation: Perhaps I should finish it up. I feel like I should also finish up the glossary and relationship chart in the variety section, at least. Then I'd have everything from pages 131-139 completely translated. I'll have to make some time to do that here pretty soon, I guess, with CS Console right around the corner...
4. Bump with new CS Story Mode info: Torakaka (CV: Kaori Yagi) A warrior of the Kaka Clan, she's like a big sister to Taokaka. It seems that she'll be meeting with Jubei and Rachel's butler. Platinum the Trinity (CV: Aoi Yuuki) A young girl with two personalities who owns the Nox Nyctores: Muchourin. She seems hostile towards Ragna.
5. She's always had a last name, it's just been rarely used in the games themselves.
6. Kuroki Kemono (黒き獣) is "Black Beast". Kuroki Mono (黒き者) is "Dark One", Hakumen's nickname for Ragna. They probably translated it as "Dark One" because the literal translation is "Black Person".

7. I'm with the "just Sol" crowd. Not so much for the sake of tradition or anything, but just to keep the logo from being too busy. My only concern is that the ink-spatter effect around Sol actually looks more like scratches to me. Also, I could be wrong, but the GGX Drafting Artworks artbook might actually have the keyframe lineart, which would probably work better and look cleaner than using a resized sprite.
8. Just toying around a bit.
9. Close, but not quite. It was told in the first two GGXX drama CDs, Side Red and Side Black. I-No was indeed from a timeline where Ky Kiske had been killed and the human race had been on the losing side of the Crusades for quite some time. Johnny's dead, Baldhead never became Faust, Testament and Dizzy are generals in the Gear army, and Sol is captain of the Sacred Order, if I recall everything correctly. The humans make a last ditch effort to take down the Gears, with the Sacred Order, Zepp, and the Jellyfish banding together. Meanwhile, I-No goes down into the Gear Plant to look for the Gear Maker, who turns out to be chained up in the lower levels, held as a prisoner. Outside, Sol and the others make their last stand against the Gears and are actually about to pull off a win. That Man postulates that mankind was destined to win the Crusades regardless of how the events played out, and the net result will be essentially the same. I-No reveals to him that she can go back in time and help the humans achieve victory. He doesn't believe her, saying that violating causality is impossible. She tells him that she'll prove it to him, using up a ton of energy to travel back to the battle in which Ky died and save him. She apparantly then meets up with That Man of her own accord in the new timeline (Reality 2.0) and joins him. Also, the Drama CDs are fully canon, as are the novels. There are referances to the events here and there.
10. Memory of Blue Ragna the Bloodedge Written by: Takeshi Yamanaka, illustrated by: Yuuki Katou (Arc System Works) Translated by: Suzaku (dustloop.com) The 9th Hierarchical City "Akitsu" was an extremely unremarkable city lacking any especially noteworthy features. A few days earlier, Ragna the Bloodedge had showed up in town. And on this day, he was waiting for midnight, when everyone would be fast asleep, to make his move. Ragna's objective was the largest building in the city—the NOL branch. Fleet-footed and free from prying eyes, he tore through the night down Main Street, and before long caught sight of a massive building that soon dominated his field of vision. Ornately decorated, it was far more impressive than the bureaucratic public offices. He briefly paused before the Library's vaunted "dignity and perfection personified". Glaring up at the building, Ragna angrily clicked his tongue. "The area up ahead is restricted. Turn back immediately." The masculine voice boomed through a speaker installed on a streetlight. The front gate was still a hundred meters away. When a man carrying a "huge weapon" appeared out of the night and began to approach him, there was no mistaking it for anything other than a warning... Ragna ignored that warning, and without batting an eyelash, kept right on walking. "Halt! Come any closer and you'll be considered an intruder, subject to removal by force!" Taking on a stronger tone, the voice again called out from the speaker. In spite of this, Ragna's pace remained the same. "You there, sir! Can you hear me? I said halt!!" The masculine voice became an angered roar. A moment later, a trap was triggered, emitting a dull and persistent noise throughout the vicinity. This trap, designed for protection against demonic beasts, could instantly vaporize an ordinary man. The safeguard, however, was powerless against Ragna. With a casual wave of his right hand, the trap dispersed like a burst bubble. The voices of confused guards danced around him, followed by the piercing echo of an alarm. The main gate was right in front of him—but there, Ragna came to a sudden stop. The praetorian guard had heard the commotion and alarms, and in less than a minute, dozens of armed personnel had assembled. Identical blue uniforms lined up in a row. With a flash, Ragna's mouth twisted into a fearless grin. "So you want it the hard way... Library dogs!" He gripped the great sword worn across his lower back and settled into a battle stance. It was a stance that gave him the appearance of a poised gunslinger. The armed personnel responded in kind by targeting Ragna and training their weapons on him. Suddenly, a dreadful flash and thunderous roar ripped through the area, blowing away the gate and taking the armed personnel with it. Raising an eyebrow, Ragna stepped over the wreckage of the main gate, leisurely infiltrating the NOL building's interior. Advancing straight up a ramp, he reached the staircase connected to the main hall. There, more than a hundred armed personnel fully prepared for war already awaited him. Ragna slowly surveyed the faces of the armed personnel. Taking a deep breath, he sliced into the crowd of enemies without hesitation. It was like someone painting a landscape of hell. With his eyes flaring bright, Ragna brandished his massive blade. An armagus erupted through the building in all directions. Swords rang out. Chaotic screams, shouting, and the agony of death. Making no distinction between men, women, or those trying to escape, he cut every last one of them down. There would be no mercy from Ragna. He no longer recognized his foes as "human". Garbed in those unsightly "blue uniforms", they were the "Azure" which he hated. The battle gradually took on the aspect of a one-sided slaughter... Several minutes after the furious conflict—or rather, the massacre—Ragna was in the deepest part of the NOL building. Each NOL branch conceals an unimaginable, bowl-shaped room underground. Gold and blue lights traced mysterious geometric patterns, boasting a majestic beauty. He jumped into the depths, sliding down toward the "Gate". "... It's all right, the sequence hasn't finished, yet." Turning away from the Gate, he sprinted up the interior of the room and easily leapt back to the ledge. He then looked down toward the bottom again. He raised his right hand just like before, and it became enveloped in a blue-black light, which gradually increased in size. With an abrupt and forceful thrust, Ragna launched the blue-black light forward. In the next instant, the Gate was blown into pieces with a resounding crash. The impact sent out a ripple of shockwaves from the center of the Gate. With the parts falling away one at a time, the miniature garden collapsed. The NOL branch, which was said to have enough military power to rival an entire country, was destroyed at the hands of just a single person on that night. ◆ ◆ ◆ ◆ ◆ ◆ ◆ ◆ ◆ ◆ ◆ ◆ ◆ ◆ ◆ Ragna walked down a dim, narrow alley. He was making his way towards the fifth of five gates found in the 9th Hierarchical City. Of the five gates, it was the smallest, and was also located the furthest from downtown. It was commonly called the "back door", and was frequently used by traveling visitors for that reason. He was through with this city. Having achieved his goal, Ragna just wanted to get out of the city as soon as possible. As he neared the gate, he left the alley and entered another long, slender passage. The labyrinthine streets appeared to repeat over and over again, a result of unplanned growth in the district. It must have been a much lower level—and the scarcity of streetlights made it even darker. The seithr levels were out of balance as well, and it seemed there was a problem with the air-conditioning. The damp air clung to Ragna's body. He gnashed his teeth at the gap between this and the upper district of the NOL branch. At the same time, Ragna suddenly felt a gaze fall upon him and stopped walking. He squinted, peering into the darkness. There, on the roof of a building, stood a maiden in black. She looked like a black rabbit holding a black umbrella in a black void. The rabbit was sitting on something like a big, rubber ball, watching Ragna. Her backlit expression was unclear—the only clear thing about her were the two cold, crimson eyes floating in the darkness. Ragna returned the young girl's glare with contempt, his own eyes tinged with a shade of bloodlust. With her eyes still trained on Ragna, the girl raised an eyebrow. She continued to stare at him through those red eyes, like a pair of glass beads, without blinking. Annoying. Black and annoying. Ragna finally averted his eyes from her and started walking again, ignoring her completely. Then the young lady, who had surely been standing on the roof mere moments earlier, appeared right before his eyes. Ragna, unsurprised, brushed right past her. As he passed, her porcelain doll lips moved. "My... How uncouth." Ragna's steps stopped, his expression shaded with anger. The girl watched Ragna patiently, returning his look without hesitation. The tension between the two could have been cut with a knife. It seemed as if the moment stretched on for a terribly long time, then ended with a graceful gesture from the young lady. Abruptly, she had raised her right hand and moved it horizontally. Pointing to the northwest, the black rabbit—with a firm tone—whispered, "Kagutsuchi." Ragna couldn't make out the intent behind the young lady's words, and stared at her once again, with a dubious expression. In the next instant, the girl was floating, drifting up into the sky. Just before the rabbit's silhouette against the moon faded away like fog, she looked down at Ragna and whispered something. "Fufufu... I shall look forward to it." Ragna lightly clicked his tongue. The girl's voice continued to echo in his mind for a long time. Ragna's right arm had grown hot... The air, heavy with humidity, seeped into his lungs as the back of his heel passed through the gate. Shortly after, he became known as the "Grim Reaper". AD2198
11. Thanks for this, it's very appreciated.
12. Mobile was just a port of the original PSX Guilty Gear with some minigames. RoA was an enhanced version of Mobile with some Guilty Gear Judgment enemies thrown in as playable characters, and a vague story to tie them in, which was that a mysterious scientist was creating a new type of living weapons called Arms. The Arms have their own stages and use Justice's theme, and play a bit differently.
13. Oh, sorry about that. I meant to write a reply but stuff came up. I'm working a bit on writing up summaries for the GG2 short stories, which I'm planning to post up when I get them all done.

14. Pains me to say it, but I'm fairly certain that's a fake. I haven't seen it mentioned on any Japanese sites, and the contents of the new issue of V-Jump have already been posted, with no new games slated to be announced. The background of the pages also looks strangely empty, and the art of Cain kind of looks like it was edited from Cecil's art or something (wrong hair color, lacking certain details like spikes, etc.).
15. Anyone out there happen to have good quality rips of the Accent Core Plus story mode portraits? Crow, Raven, Gabriel, etc..
16. Just wanted to say that I did some of my own fan Latin translations of the Nox Nyctores titles that haven't been localized yet. I actually did these a while ago, but just now decided to post them: 01. "Highlander: Take-Mikazuchi" Japanese: 『巨人(ハイランダー)・タケミカヅチ』 Translation: "Giant Man (Highlander): Take-Mikazuchi" Official Localization: "Gigant: Take-Mikazuchi" Fan Localization: n/a 03. "Majuu: Bolverk" Japanese: 『魔獣(マジュウ)・ベルヴェルク』, Noel calls them 『魔銃(マジュウ)・ベルヴェルク』 Translation: "Demon Beasts (Majuu): Bolverk", Noel calls them "Demon Guns (Majuu): Bolverk" Official Localization: n/a 04. "Kishin: Nirvana" Japanese: 『機神(キシン)・ニルヴァーナ』 Translation: "God Machine (Kishin): Nirvana" Official Localization: "Deus Machina: Nirvana" Fan Localization: n/a Fan Localization: "Sica Somnio: Musashi" 06. "Zanma: Ookami" Japanese: 『斬魔(ザンマ)・鳴神(オオカミ)』 Translation: "Evil Slayer (Zanma): Howling God (Ookami)" Official Localization: n/a Fan Localization: "Clamor Tonitruum: Muchorin" 08. Jasou: Ouroboros Japanese: 『蛇双(ジャソウ)・ウロボロス』 Translation: "Dual Snakes (Jasou): Ouroboros" Officiali Localization: n/a Fan Localization: "Ala Phoenix: ???" 10. "Shinki: Murakumo" Japanese: 『神輝(シンキ)・ムラクモ』 Translation: "Sacred Light (Shinki): Gathering Clouds (Murakumo)" Official Localization: [finput][/finput] Fan Localization: "Lux Sacra: Murakumo"
17. The Japanese name of the technique is 虚空陣奥義 夢幻 (ムゲン). 夢幻 (Mugen) means dream/fantasy/vision. 無限 is the mugen that means infinite. The literal translation of the Japanese name is "Void Space Formation: Dream".
18. Hazama and Tsubaki's Astral Heats. Hazama - Senkon-Meiraku - 720 + D Tsubaki - Sacred Judgment: Goddess that Judges Man - 632146 + C Senkon-Meiraku means, roughly, "Dark Brand of a Thousand Souls". Brand as in burning a mark into something.
19. I actually don't own a copy myself, a friend of mine does.

20. Bit of information on Unlimited Hazama (Boss Hazama). He's Hazama with BlazBlue activated, not Terumi. He starts the round by activating the Azure Grimoire / BlazBlue, which creates a Soul Eater field around him that constantly absorbs his opponent's health when they're standing in it.
21. Yeah, sure, go ahead and post up anything you've done. I was pretty much just planning on posting summaries, but I was thinking about finishing up the Variety section before doing more of them.
22. Just for the hell of it, I went ahead and translated the list of the 23 Hierarchical Cities. You'll notice that a few names are used twice, but I didn't see any explanations for that. The 1st Hierarchical City "Ookoto" The 2nd Hierarchical City "Iwatsuchi" The 3rd Hierarchical City "Iwasu" The 4th Hierarchical City "Naobi" The Ikaruga Federation The 5th Hierarchical City "Ibukido" The 6th Hierarchical City "Yabiko" The 7th Hierarchical City "Kazamotsu" The 8th Hierarchical City "Wadatsumi" The 9th Hierarchical City "Akitsu" The 10th Hierarchical City "Akitsu" The Izumo Region The 11th Hierarchical City "Shinatsu" The 12th Hierarchical City "Kukunochi" The 13th Hierarchical City "Kagutsuchi" The 14th Hierarchical City "Nozuchi" The 15th Hierarchical City "Torifune" The 16th Hierarchical City "Oogetsu" The 17th Hierarchical City "Yamatsumi" The 18th Hierarchical City "Kanayama" The 19th Hierarchical City "Kanayama" The 20th Hierarchical City "Haniyatsu" The 21st Hierarchical City "Haniyatsu" The 22nd Hierarchical City "Mizuha" The 23rd Hierarchical City "Wakumusubi"
23. They're not related. Even if the Kisaragi and Yayoi families are related by blood (or, more likely, marriage), Jin was adopted. The "twelve families" (十二宗家, juunisouke) might be more aptly translated as "twelve heads" or "twelve originators". The term "souke" usually refers to the headmaster or founder of a family, but in BB, seems to refer to the entire family and their place in the NOL's hierarchy. They're also called, roughly, the twelve spearbearers (矛十二士, hokujuunishi). They serve the Imperator, and they appear to be named after the months of the Japanese calendar. The Yayoi family is stated to value the "family's bloodline" or "family lineage by blood relation".
24. Because Hakumen literally just got back from the Edge, thought Terumi was still sealed up, and unless I'm forgetting, never met Hazama during the game.
25. The loop is a set hundred year period beginning on AD2099/12/31 and ending on AD2199/12/31, when Ragna and Nu fall into the cauldron. The laws of probability result in miniscule changes occuring within each loop, and eventually, enough of these changes build up that end result is different and the loop is broken. http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showpost.php?p=466266&postcount=112 Rachel isn't really supposed to have a direct hand in changing history, so she probably doesn't want to make any big gestures. Most of the other characters don't know that there's a loop, so they generally encounter the same situations and make the same decisions in every loop, apart from slight changes in each iteration.
