The idea of pushing the opponent to the opposite side of the screen seems dumb unless you're playing a zoner. If you actually manage to hit them with an attack while stuck in the corner, wouldn't you want to do some kind of combo for damage, rather than do a move that makes it so you can't follow up? It would be like CS2 Rachel fork. List of uses: pushing Tager away. I guess it makes a little more sense in a game where you can't jump over the opponent. Hmm.

You know, I keep looking for a game that will destroy my perception that different stages in a fighting game are always a bad idea. I WANT there to be a good fighter with platforming in it. This does not seem to be that game, but it looks worth trying. -
Actually if you do the math that cancel cost 37 meter, not 25. 37 is 150/4 rounded down, so it kind of makes sense if they're basing the model on the low life meter max value, which is 150. Low life mode looks like it kicks in at at least 1/3 HP. We never really see anyone at half, and when Yu is introduced he starts beating on Chie at ~1/3 HP in low mode. Low mode looks like it kicks in when the player with low life recovers, not precisely when they reach the threshold.

BB definitely did tutorial mode right. It assumed you knew ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about fighting games and held your hand all the way through just about all of the complicated mechanics to the tune of Rachel's witty voice. This is the most robust tutorial mode I have ever seen in a fighter.

Are there any reasonably high level matches up? Is this game even at a point in development where it can be played competitively? The only matches I can find on Youtube are Poketards mashing against the CPU.

Without getting too spoilery let's just say she's a cheater, a suck up, and I hate her attitude. She certainly succeeds in being detestable.

Ok so does anyone have a good idea of how the mechanics work? So far I've worked out: Quick/Hard: Quick: - Allows chaining between normal attack strengths - Slows opponent down in Overdrive Hard: - Has more life? - Gets superarmor in Overdrive - Cannot chain different normal attack strengths together. Bar surrounding the timer adds crazy damage to charged unblockables when fully filled for one meter. Stuff I still don't get: - How does frame advantage/attack canceling work during clashes? - How does that red dash parry thing work? - Frame advantage/disadvantage in general feels totally bizarre in this game. - Meter gain seems wacky as well. -

Zomg this. THERE'S NO BASIC GAME IN BB. You're either doing a super long dialer or doing a less long dialer off the same opening move because you haven't memorized the super long dialer bnb. So many moves seem to be in the game simply for the purpose of using them in combos rather than for actually playing the game. Most of the moves themselves have little utility outside of combos or autopilot blockstrings because of either poor hitboxes or slow speed and this lack of move definition makes the game more a matter of memorization and blindly throwing out moves based on your odds per the scenario than one of reacting to what your opponent actually does.

I'll look into going again. Now that AI is gone there's really nowhere else to go unless you want to drive up to FFA.
