WaitToPassJudgementWaitToPassJudgementWaitToPassJudgement...... Are there any other "oddities," like that, particularly concerning the English in the game?
-
Well, the picture says "online pass," so confusion would be natural. I think it's bad wording on Sony's part. Nearly gave me a heart attack.

If you want to join BlackYukuzu, I'll help you get there. Speaking of which... Really? That's distressing. I understand the reasoning behind it, but BlazBlue's netplay isn't even that good; Skullgirls (PC) beats it by miles. Did Japan have online passes, because I don't recall hearing about that.

Let's make that three: Guilty Gear AC+ didn't even have translated movelists till the +R update! Anyways, does anyone here have a NA copy yet? How's it playing so far?

The Brain Box (Boston, Massachusetts and parts of New England) Thread
Narroo replied to Troll Badguy's topic in East Coast
Meh, busy today. I guess my wonderful debut isn't coming. -
Grr, I bet the localization is going to be bad! I bet they're not even going to translate the win quotes! Bang is going to be speaking in Japanese! Ukemi? More like U-NOT! Actually, I just hate Day-One DLC. The fact that the DLC in this case is basically Day-Minus-6-Months DLC just makes it worse. Oh, and Arksys is NOT doing the localization. They're publishing. ...I wonder how drunk I can get BlackYakuzu? How much do you like alcohol?
-
I still think that Kokonoe and Terumi being DLC for the NA release is bad. I mean, the characters are already finished AND we're getting the game 6 months late. Not to mention that Arc System Works is doing the localization themselves and they've yet to prove their competency compared to Arksys. Darn it, I'm suppose to be happy that CP is out, not annoyed.

The Brain Box (Boston, Massachusetts and parts of New England) Thread
Narroo replied to Troll Badguy's topic in East Coast
Well, I'll be hiking around Boston tomorrow for fun, so I'll probably stop by for dinner and a match. I'm super casual, except for the fact that I use a joystick, so I'll be floundering around quite a bit. -

Hm, if the Brain Box is closed, perhaps someone should update the original post, or make a new topic? -

Just moved up to Massachusetts and I'm heading into Boston Sunday. I think I'll check this out. Anything I need to know? They'll be people there on Sunday, right? -
Oh, this coloration needs a bit of work.
Narroo replied to Narroo's topic in Site Feedback and Suggestions
So it is still being worked on? Okay, that's all I need to hear. But it still doesn't look as good as before, I think. For instance, there's barely any difference between the (quick) "Post a Reply" area and the actual message field. I think it needs a bit of tweaking. That said, I think it should come out well if Circuitous is on it. I trust Circuitous. I mean, if Circuitous detail oriented behavior on modding is anything to go by, everything should come out just fine. -

That might be it. The comments still stand though (a new layout can require a bit of alteration.) That said, if your the one responsible for the old layout/color, I will say it was pretty good. Also, I'm refering to Sol style. -
Note: I don't know if the site is still being tinkered with or not, so this topic could be incredibly pointless. But after seeing what happened to Shoryuken.com, I'm going to post my thoughts anyways. The current color theme seems to have too much contrast in some places, and not enough in others, making reading the site difficult and visually harsh. May I suggest easing up on the whites and going with some more creme colors? Also, make sure that the colors for different things are different. For instance, the tab bar at the top: "Articles Forums Members etc" It's all the same color, except for the current tab which is white. Would it be possible to change the color of all the tabs? Something of a earthy reddish creme, perhaps? The font looks off as well; it appears to be white with blue outlines. Everything looks indistict to me. Below that, you have a grey block with titles, followed by a light blue block. The colors kinda blend together because they're light and the fail to compliment each other, giving the screen an indistinct impression where things flow together. It makes it harder to seperate things at a glance and forces you to focus on the screen to find stuff. In general, can we tweek the colors to attract the eye naturally to the important features of the site, as well as to make it a bit less harsh? The old forums were fairly good at this. What do you guys think?

BlazBlue Question Thread - Ask your questions here!
Narroo replied to KayEff's topic in BlazBlue Gameplay
Really? Terumi is going to be DLC for America? That's blatant content lock right there. The console version comes out 5 months later for us, after a year of not having it in arcades, AND the Arc System Works Translation has yet to be proven any good (remember Extend.) Now we have to preorder to get a character? I wonder if they're going to make a deluxe version like Extend, with DLC characters included? -

[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion
Narroo replied to Shinjin's topic in Guilty Gear General
Well, there's something to be said for variety. Let's say that Sol and Ky are the most popular characters in GG. If EVERY character was like Sol or Ky, the game would be boring. There would be no variety in who you could fight against, even if you only play Sol! Furthermore, if you like Sol and Ky in the first place, adding copies of them is redundant and doesn't add much value to the game since you've already been satisfied. It would be similar to going to a Buffet and only being able to choose from 20 types of similar chocolate cakes; at some point having extra variations of the same thing does really help. So, I can imagine that part of the character selection process was not a measure of how popular a particular character was, but rather an attempt to maximize the number of player's covered which would mean excluding overlapping characters. For instance, people may like Johnny, but I-No has a bit more of a unique style. The second half would be variety to fight against. Having the game consist of a bunch of mirror matches would be boring. People can only take Sol vs Ky for so long. They also probably wanted different characters that felt different to fight against since you're opponents are just as important as your character. Otherwise, we'd just play against sandbags. To that end, going against Axel is a lot more different than Order Sol or Johnny. And finally, though this is just an errant thought, it might also because of balancing concerns. It's possible they wanted a certain spread of characters to start with to make balancing easier. For instance, imagine that the game had no projectile zoners to begin with, or no Axel. If they added him in later it would create a balancing issue that might take awhile to resolve (see Hazama) because the original characters weren't designed him characters like that in mind. Or maybe they were designed with zoners in mind, leaving them with moves and properties that would be completely useless for months or years until DLC or sequels come out. --- So, in the end, the character choice might not be a popularity vote, but rather an attempt at the developers to maximize the number of players who can find a main they enjoy and to give the fights variety. -

Is there any reason why you don't see a setup like: K S HS D P X XX X Is it just because of how arcade buttons are set up, because I find this the most comfortable. -
Um, if there's not enough room on the disk, then you wouldn't be able to copy the information that that didn't fit on the disk onto the HDD. I guess you could use multiple discs for installation, but then you'd HAVE to have an HDD to play; the HDD's aren't totally standard on the 360 and some are very small. Plus, multiple discs would drive up production costs AND who knows what kind of silly rules MS has about publishing. In the end, it was probably too much of a pain to find a workaround for the size issue.
