Are people going to UAT tomorrow after the ranbat at TGZ? I might head out there, but I'm not going to TGZ (I'm not against the place; I just don't play Xrd). -

I'm probably not going now, as my car decided it doesn't really want to start up. Looks to only be an issue with the battery, but I still need to get that resolved. I still should be OK for hosting (as I know a couple of people asked about that earlier) later tonight, though. -

I'll bring a monitor and a PS3, and I should be there are 4...ish. Do have to pick Tempered up from work tonight, though. -

Is anything happening at UAT today? I know Ryd and H-F are looking for games, as well. -

What about people looking to get games/brackets for P4AU and UNIEL? I don't think they run those at TGZ, unless we were to just move everything over there for this month. I would have no problem helping run stuff, in either circumstance. -
Evolution Championship Series 2015 Side Tournaments
Dipstick replied to Jyosua's topic in Majors and Regionals
Side tournaments are almost never held on Sunday and I'm about 99% sure they won't be this year, since it looks like they will need every seat in both halls for finals day (the main hall is already sold out, and the main and exhibition hall are the same size). Ergo, any of the passes should be fine.- 32 replies

It was for a random weekend... last weekend. The 7v7 happened about the same time as the local Xrd tournament. :x Have you seen SoCal play? They're almost as bad as... *watches archive from last weekend* ...us. Woof. At least we could field a team of 7 local players. -_- Fake fake fake fake fake fake fake fake edit: Apparently Georgia wants in on this pie fight too. -

Thanks to Ryan and everyone else involved for running the event (and for putting up with my idiocy on stream). Now thinking about it, I kind of feel like an ass for not helping clean up. :| Shoutouts to H-F for remembering how to play UNIEL mid-tournament and actually getting mad (at me, no less -- although I can't blame you, that stunt was foolish) and Orrax for making me look foolish in UNIEL again. I honestly thought I had that pretty free after the first three rounds, but you always have to be on the lookout for getting outplayed by Gordeau. I'm also disappointed that I never got to rub Eltnums with Ruben. Ryd, why the hell do you want to play me so much in VF all of the sudden??? Not that I mind, but you better come correct. :p As an aside, did someone or multiple someones ask me about renting a van to go down to SoCal? Presumably for SCR? Is that something that's needed? I would be OK with driving (because this always seems to be something that happens anyway), but I would need to know more in terms of logistics. That is, of course, if I wasn't hallucinating the whole thing in a half-asleep dream of waifus and beef hoagies. -

The biggest issue with running MB on a laptop (assuming it's GPU isn't straight trash... but a lot of them, especially older ones are) has to do with the laptop screen (which you can just run out to a decent monitor instead) and background processes randomly eating frames (which you can go in and more or less temporarily kill). Yes, it's more work and yes I wish the game was on some console so it would be easier to manage... but I wish my army of magical girls actually existed, too. It is what it is. :\ As for if MB or another game would be forced or not... who cares? It's not like I (or anyone else) is chaining anyone to chairs and forcing them to play. I'm pretty sure you guys are thinking about this too hard. If you want to play, play -- and if you don't, don't. I think it's just a push to have an event that's reasonably consistent, while also finding something that's a bit outside of what typically gets played. I think you could run anything from Windjammers to Shaq Fu for a similar effect. Frankly, I think you could run both GGAC and MBCC at events here until the end of time and get players (even if no one takes the game seriously at this point). -

Country Club and Main? That's actually really damn close to where Tempered and I live. :x I actually did go and buy the English version of UNIEL -- honestly, I was going to buy a retail copy but getting it for nearly half that rate was too much of a discount to pass on. -

Thanks to everyone who came out last night. Ryd, I swear to God that one day (hopefully soon) I'm going to slap your Sakura around. Will we actually get H-F playing more F/UC than Aquapazza in 2015? Stay tuned. :V -

Thanks to Rath and Kevin and everyone else who helped run the event. I'm kind of glad my match vs. Orrax in UNIEL wasn't on stream, because yeesh. And why do I have a feeling that we're going to be seeing more MB and FUC in the near future? Did we end up going back to 2010? Why does everyone in AZ hate Aquapazza so much, though??? It's a sign, and it says that you should play it more. Why would you abandon the robo loli like that??? -

Last year I brought two PS3 setups that could run nearly anything, and I should also have a reasonable(ish) NUC that could run MBCC by then. I was also involved with running the French Bread/Examu games last year, and while I don't kn... oh, who am I kidding? I'll be back neck-deep in it again. Part of me hopes that UNIEL outdraws at least one of the main Evo games this year... but then I realize about how many people that would be and I would want to peel the skin from my body. Also: I have a sternly worded letter here from Tenryo regarding the lack of Chaos Code.- 32 replies

From Evo's general history, a patch that late would not be accepted. However, the first rule is that you can do anything you want with enough McRibs. That and I think there's about an 87.356% chance you're trolling. -

Can I enter the Melty tournament twice? Best setup is best setup. Man, you said the same stuff at Evo... or is that your excuse for losing to Lord Knight, who hasn't played the game in about 12 years? You also said similar things the couple of times you had to play on arcade cabinets, as well. If you actually go 0-2 you're going to be stuck playing 100 games of you know what the next time you're over here. -

For myself, I can pretty much make it whenever Saturday or Sunday, but I would prefer Saturday as I start work super early in the morning now. H-F should be good for Saturday/Sunday(outside of personal stuff), but I don't know exactly what his preference is. Tempered's schedule is a bit erratic but he usually has Sundays off and can't get there on Saturday until 6-7ish. -

Forget PCs, it's time to bring back the PS2 version of MBAA, the real GOAT. I don't know how glib this response is, but it's an interesting issue. At what point do you not play the game you really want to play to play something else that other people play? That and even if UNIEL isn't as good of a game as MB, it's also a fresh experience. I've seen so much of some of these match-ups in MB I think I can recreate them in my sleep (or maybe it's just watching Ryd and H-F play putting me to sleep :P ). And after what happened over the weekend, we could also relive the bad old days from MBAC/MBAA and kick NorCal players in the teeth in a new game. (If anyone from there actually reads this, I don't actually have any problems -- I can't get mad at people that play Aquapazza and Neo Turf Masters.) I'm not going to say you should stop playing UNIEL at all, because it's a good game. ...but Melty is amazing and everyone should try it. Arcana's story sounds like it would be hype as hell, taking that L for true love and everything. -

Now it feels like my fault for UNIEL not happening. Tempered and I were going to go for it but he had to work OT (and he normally gets out of work right around when P4AU is scheduled to end), and I was set to pick him up from work, which would turned into a total mess. Welp, real life is that 0-10 match-up.
