I think your problem is that you did it for the wrong game. :x Orrax, Ryd and H-F Blade are already here. We're still setting up some stuff, but come on down. -

May as well put it out there here: there's a session at my place Thursday night with the release of UNIEL (assuming that Tempered doesn't screw up). All the inbirthing you could possibly handle, and I'll be streaming so you can embarrass yourself (really me) in front of tens of people. If you're interested in trying the game (and you should be), come on down. -

So until December? :p I'll probably start hosting sessions for UNIEL on the regular starting next week -- it would be a lot easier if H-F/Ryd/Tempered could actually agree on a consistent day though. :< (Although over half of that is because of scheduling issues from work.) -
French Bread has confirmed the system is identical to the current arcade version (and I suspect this even comes down to Waldstein's infinite -- I don't think anyone tested it at Evo). This game doesn't have TRM, but if you land a CH grab, it's untechable, even if they still have throw protection. So you'll see both the gold and red throw effect and the throw is guaranteed. Same deal if they're shielding during blockstun -- and if they're mashing on throw tech in blockstun, you're going to get a shield.

The venue itself was good (first time I can remember actually being able to breathe in BYOC!), but the service at the LVH/Westgate sucked ass. The bathrooms at the convention area... holy hell, No Johns was not just for Smash this year. I don't know how much of that was due to sudden staff turnover or what. -

If you start losing to Floe, just start asking him about Sonic. Instant 10-0 match-up. -

Wow, that looks more fucked up than pool 1 in MBAA from Evo 2010 (which had Lord Knight, Sp00ky, YAT, bellreisa, Pfhor, Ryd and Tempered in it -- that was a hot mess (and why do I remember that???)). That's almost certainly getting overhauled. -

I read this post about three times, each time reading it at EDM, and sitting here really confused. -

I'm curious about where you get the idea that the console releases of MB tanked. If anything, I remember the opposite, with MBAC doing something like 250,000 units (which, for a Japan-only release, is pretty good). The real problem, to my knowledge, is the licensing, and the fact that French Bread is a very small team, so working on more than one thing at once is difficult. -

Time to get paid!!! Now I'm wondering if I made a bad life decision not playing BBCP... actually, no I'm not. :p But someone's going to be sitting on fat stacks after the end of that bracket. -

Not literally, but they announced another console character in Famitsu this week, and he looks almost exactly like Narukami (if he was Seth's brother) and he has a ring of knives floating around/behind him. -

The speed test on the PS3 is garbage, don't use it. My PS3 thinks I have negative upstream and it's not that bad. I can actually play online and stream 720p60fps to Twitch without issue... as long as Tempered isn't being an idiot with his downloads. :p And jesus fuck did they really add Narukami to UNIEL and give him the gucci belt? We're all fucked. -

Apparently Orrax and Ryd are coming by tonight, and H-F might want to come by to cut some more waifus. I'm not even sure what's going to be played, to be honest (which means everyone gets sucked into playing some God awful game). Don't know how many of you aren't busy cosplaying at Comicon, but if anyone else wants to push buttons, come on down. -

The thing with Sion's overheads is while she has three of them, they're all on the slow side. Same thing with F-Sion's dash grab. The bigger issue is that her range kind of sucks and her pressure isn't as airtight as the top tier characters. IIRC she's a solid A tier character, but C was the best version. You would want to bug Tempered for in-depth information. He could tell you more than you ever wanted to know about her (just don't get hit by the YouTube mixup). -

I think one of the issues with running the ranbat next weekend is that it's going to conflict with Phoenix Comicon. I don't know how many people that affects (I'm not going because I live a sad life), but I could see it being a problem. As for hosting tonight... jesus fuck H-F's hunger for waifu violence is too real right now. Although if people want more than two setups, someone's going to need to bring another monitor. -

Hello -- for people that aren't aware, I'm the administrator for Melty Bread and basically handle all of the day-to-day stuff on the site (or what's left of it). Honestly, I think forums in this day and age are largely redundant. A lot of the moment-to-moment discussion happens on Twitter and Facebook, and a lot of the longer-form strategy and tactics end up in the wiki. What's the point of having a forum? I checked the UNIEL thread here and there was about 20 posts in the last week. While that's still more active than Melty Bread (womp womp), that's not exactly a hotbed of activity. I think there can be a use for it (for having things like an independent area for matchmaking outside of private Facebook groups), but it's not something that's nearly as important as it was a decade ago. Honestly, I wouldn't have a problem folding all of Homing Cancel and Melty Bread into Dustloop at this point (but I would see that as being a technical mess). As for why Melty Bread is dead, it really comes down to the fact that the people who put in work on the site have, to a man, moved on to other things in their lives and there's been no one to replace them. I deserve as much blame for this as anyone else -- I'm generally not going to give someone that I don't trust that kind of space to work, and frankly I don't know most of the new-school players very well. What's left of the community is also very insular, mainly taking day to day stuff on Mizuumi's IRC channels. Which isn't bad (parts of that community have been around for over a decade!), but it's not very welcoming to new players (and how often does anyone who started using the Internet less than a decade ago even know about IRC?). This, of course, ignores the most obvious problem of a lack of support from the developers for their game (for many, many reasons), but there's nothing we can do about that. Let me ask you a question straight-up -- this isn't really a shot at you (or anyone), but I think it's illustrative: why would you be willing to put in that work on Dustloop but not on Melty Bread or Homing Cancel? -
