San Diego's thread of meetups every Friday Night at SD Saltmines
Wild Wallice replied to shtkn's topic in West Coast
So I have the game now, got it from Long Beach after a three hour drive in Death Zone (3-5PM) level traffic. P4A will be served tomorrow evening, courtesy of me. Also, good to see you here Martin. I don't know any place down here that is breaking street date, but if I find out, I'll let you know. Also, if you plan on playing Teddie, you better have a lot of bear puns. Those are required. -

Well they said they're getting it in tonight right? The guy also said its first come first serve after the call you if I heard him right. I'm not taking any chances, if that call comes this afternoon I'll be on my way there immediately. -

Probably will be playing Narukami. Might play Mitsuru. Does she have a projectile? The coat and rapier make her an attractive choice on their own, if she has dp/fireball then she'll be my waifu. Btw, all your waifus are sluts. -

So it seems like there is gonna be something going down every day next week starting on the 7th. I've affectionately dubbed this the "launch orgy." What are our plans? Do we wanna head up to WNF and their follow up tournament over the weekend? Are we going through with our launch day mash session, and doing stuff on Friday too? We should probably get this ironed out and ready, so we can make the best use of our time and become e-sports superstars at P4A right out of the gate. -

I'd be fine with a release day mash session. Hopefully I'll have had a few hours in training mode by then so that I could actually do combos and/or know what is actually going on. Oh yeah, and I'll be getting it for PS3. Probably for Xbox as well a bit later. -

Watermelonz, that is amazing and I thank you for that suggestion. But when I went today I got stuck in traffic so I got there late and wasn't able to enter BB. I played around with P4 a bit though, it was fun. I'm pretty hype about finally being able to sit down and grind training mode with it in a couple weeks. -

Buddy and I are heading out to Frubble early tonight. Should get there around 5ish. If any of you are free and want to come out and play early, feel free. -

Well that will certainly be interesting. Also, if you guys plan to come to my place, come at 3ish. 3:30 would be best probably, since I've got some stuff to take care of first. -

Double post because I want people to pay attention to this: On Friday I will be opening my place up for some casuals before we all head out to Frubble. Buddy expressed interest in coming over to practice on Friday afternoon, so I figure anybody else who has the time or is in the area can feel free to show up and play as well. Currently I don't know exactly what time I'll be able to open up my place at, but I will edit this post to let you guys know. See you Friday. -

Watermelonz, if you would like, I can bring my big box of shit that I use to mod sticks and see if I can fix yours on Friday. If not, I would urge you to get an Eightarc Fusion. Problem is they cost 185 dollars. Quite pricey. If you want to shave off about 90 extra dollars, you can get a Paewang Revolution stick from eTokki.com, and then order Sanwa buttons and stick for 40 dollars and mod that. Problem is that eTokki is in Korea, so you'll probably be charged extra for the international shipping, so I don't know whether or not that will end up saving you that much at all. Whatever you do, please please please get a dual modded stick so that we don't end up with stick shortage situations anymore. -

Its alright Jyosua, I did something similar. I did not spend any more time on the floor than I had to really. I didn't like being boxed in that corner for so long and I wasn't about to wait in a long line for casuals at stations that were cramped and sometimes without chairs. I wish I had been able to keep up on whether or not there were any casuals suites going on, but everyone I asked about going to Dacid's on Friday couldn't tell me what was happening or wasn't going, and it was the same with the Gamecenter suite on Saturday night as well. I pretty much spent most of my time hanging out with friends from Arizona playing KoF or with the guy I was staying with playing blackjack. Next year I'm going to try and be a bit more in the know with whats going on so it doesn't look like I simply disappeared for the entire weekend. I hope all of you that went (Shtkn, Roa, Johnny, Jyosua) had a great time, I know I enjoyed myself. Oh, and P4A was pretty cool. I think I might enjoy that game. -

So apparently replays of matches on stream at the Box Arena are being featured on a new Machinima channel, and guess who is on there! Looks like Fatbird and Glod are e-sports now. -

Well guys, Evo is upon us. I'll see some of you on Friday for sure. I'll be heading out Thursday and will probably get there at 4 or 5 PM. If you guys want to hang out before the tournament shoot me a text or call and let me know. -

So, as it turns out, my parents have chosen not to renew the lease on my place, so I will be moving out of San Diego by the end of July. In all honestly it seems like I have no prospects for a job down there anyway and it is way more cost effective to move back in with my folks. I'll be coming to the meetups on Friday for as long as I can, but there may be a point where it will no longer be feasible to burn all that gas. But, I will hopefully see some of you at the danisens or other events in SoCal. I'll see you guys tomorrow night. -

Yeah that one guy has been wanting to play Arcana pretty bad. I told him that Roa usually has it with him when he brings his setup, but Roa hasn't been able to make it recently. -
Jyosua, usually we have casuals/tournaments at Super Arcade every other Saturday. Super Arcade is located right next to Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, where the 60 and 57 freeways meet. These start at 2-3PM and usually go till 12 or whenever everyone decides to leave. Problem is, nothing is going to be happening for two weeks. This weekend is Anime Expo, which just about everybody is going to, and the weekend after that is Evo so we'll all be out of town. After Evo, the events at Super Arcade should resume though. Hope to see you there!

No problem Watermelonz. Btw, West Toast is this weekend, and its at Super Arcade instead of Family Fun Arcade this time, which should make it much easier to attend. I'm going, and I'm sure Shtkn is too. Hopefully I'll see some of the rest of you up there though. Gotta rep SD. -

So our spontaneous online session was pretty damn fun. Though I think it worked out badly in the long run for me, because it taught Haki that he can mash 5A to get out my 6B's. We should do that again sometime. GGs.
